We loved the 3 days we spent here. The hosts were lovely people who gave lots of advice and were very friendly. Breakfasts were gorgeous - I still fanatasise about the pancakes. The accommodation was very well-presented - characterful and really good quality, great beds and bathroom. And Woodstock is a wonderful place to stay.

Woodstock is a very pretty little town with interesting shops and lovely scenery – many interesting walks are around the town. Staying at Charleston House was a good choice. The house is lovingly furnished and your hosts are quietly in the background, available to help you in any way. Our room, Good Friends, is on the top floor (our choice) and up a small set of steep stairs – no problem for us. The room comfortable furnished with handmade quilts and antique furniture and very clean. There was abundant hot water and the bathroom was well set up. Breakfast was scrumptious and we greatly enjoyed conversing with other guests. You have the choice of an 8.30 or 9.30am sitting. We enjoyed both. My husband really enjoys staying in hotels with TV, fridge and microwave but he humoured me and ended up enjoying his stay.

  • Liked — Breakfast, talking to other guests.
  • Disliked — It would be nice to have tea and coffee available 24/7.

What a fantastic place to stay. Willa and Dixi welcomed us into their home as if we were family. Our room was tastefully and beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were very delicious and filling. We did see some guests make special requests and they were fulfilled perfectly. The breakfast is served at one big table which made the stay all the more wonderful. We met several people from England, Wales, Australia, and of course the U.S. Willa and Dixi were quick to offer tips on the area and were good at figuring out what to recommend based on our interests. I would definitely stay here again!

We just spent the last two days of our New England Vacation in Woodstock, Vt, at the Charleston House. What a way to end our Trip!!! We just stopped in to inquire about a vacancy and immediately were taken by the friendliness of the owners, Dixi and Willa. The house and rooms are impeccable and reminded me of being more in a friends home with its warmth and decor, not an impersonal inn as we find so many times.

The room we stayed in was the Antique Room. It was
spacious, comfortable and clean and quiet, yet the house is only a few blocks from the center of town.

Dixi and Willa were very helpful in giving us directions on where to go since we wanted to drive further north during the day to see the folliage, which was breathtaking.

Their breakfast was scrumptious. Fresh fruit, bacon and pecan french toast, like i had never tasted before and the second day was an incredible fluffy egg quiche with fresh fruit and sausage. She also had muffins that were heavenly. You do not go away hungry from this table.

What also made Breakfast so special is that Dixi and Willa joined the guests and joined in the conversation and it was like sitting with friends. It was all very charming and relaxing.

All in all, this was the most pleasant experience we have ever had in a Bed and Breakfast and would go again, and recommend it to others.

Expect a great experience when you go there.

We just stopped here by chance late in the afternoon. The housekeepers were so nice, that we were happy that still a room was available.
Breakfast was delicious (especially compared to what we have received in other B&Bs...).

Also the recommendation to eat at the Bentley was great!!

Thank you very much.

Stayed at the Charleston House with a friend for a short stay only but would go back in a heartbeat. The rooms are immaculate , lovely and spacious, with a more elegant than "country" feel. The hosts, (The Nohls) are generous, helpful without being intrusive and served a fantastic full breakfast- they even gave me a small recipe book so I could try some of their delicious breakfast dishes. Overall, this is a gem, and I highlyrecommend it .............................M. Wilson M.D. (Newton, MA.)

My husband and I spent two wonderful days at the Charleston House and were truly made to feel like welcome guests by hosts Dixi and Willa. They provided great tips on hiking options and other activities in the surrounding area as well as good advice on dining locations. Most of the inn's rooms are very large (important to me!) and very nicely appointed with period furnishings -- and some have jacuzzis. We stayed in the B&B room which has a separate sitting area and a large private deck. The breakfast was scrumptious -- pecan french toast with bacon one morning and and a creamy quiche with sausage the other. And Willa's muffins are downright sinful. Breakfast was all the more enjoyable as Dixi and Willa skillfully facilitated conversation among the guests. The inn is only a two block walk from the main town square so really convenient to the great galleries, shops and restaurants in the village. Don't miss the hike up Mt Tom for the great views!
