“Spectacular”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2013

This hotel sits in the middle of a beautiful valley directly across from the white hill town of Grazamela. You get a spectacular view from the terrace. WIth a bar, restaurant and huge fatanastic pool are this is more like a esort then just an hotel. Everything was modern, well maintaned, the breakfast was large with many choices and the service was great. Our room was large, the bed very comfortable and we had a terrace that looked out to the valley. A very very nice place.

At 20:00 hours no dinner a la carte was possible, only the usual all-in-one buffet. This is not what one would expect at a 4 * hotel.Only alternative offered were snacks offered as roomservice (thus +20% surcharge). We were 7 persons and not allowed to have the snacks at a table in the bar (many 4 person table, which all had the menu displayed). We thus were all together in a room having the snacks. The quality was poor, bread with hamburger was toasted black-burned.
Taken this back to the waiter he made quite clear not being amused.
Staff not very helpful or creative in finding a solution.
Rooms were clean, beds ok

Grazalema is stunning and so is the location of the hotel. I was however disappointed with the hotel:
-dinner options are limited. The hotel is away from the village so this is important to keep in mind. Dinner consists of a typical hotel buffet that didn´t look appetising to me (you know that typical salmon with loads of sauce...). They offer no alternatives: no a la carte menu and the snacks available on the menu cards in the lobby are not available while the restaurant is open (unless you have them in your room with a 20% surcharge and no appropriate dining table, smell afterwards etc.). So they try to force the buffet upon you, like it or not. We chose to have it in our room, despite of smell and price.
My father's hamburger bun was burnt (a lot) and stonehard. My mother's mollete (bread) with serrano ham was good, but at 13 euro for something that costs you 2 in any breakfast bar, we felt a bit abused. My son's tagliatelle were horrible. My other kids also had the 13 euro bread option.

Other details:
-the fit out is quite basic for 4 stars
-bath room stuff was limited (a gel+shampoo dispenser to be shared between washing basin and shower, no separate shampoo, conditioner etc.)
-breakfast was generally ok, though the orange juice and some of the pastries were horrible.

Dear customer,
Sorry so much for any inconvenience caused during your stay. Your opinion is very helpful for us to change things and to improve in a the future for example to have more alternative for the dinner...
Relating to the quality of the food, we have inform the chef about it, so that don´t thread back again.
Please excuses us again, best regards.

situated 5km from the "white" village of grazalema, the hotel is on the side of the hill looking across the valley. There is a roufgh track that you acn walk into the village, it takes about an hour. The hotel is on three levels, recommend you go for the highest.

food was OK but the buffet layout takes some getting used to as no logic seems to have been applied to where food goes. Nearly put sprinkles on my starter. staff in the restaurant and bar area were very friendly but there are not enogh of them. Reception staff were not so user friendly, too occupied doing their work before attending the customer.

There is a pool and jacuzzi. recommend the hotel and the area is brilliant for walking but you may need permits for some walks which can be applied for up to a month in advance.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top level of the three.

The hotel is good. The view from the rooms of the mountains is great. The breakfast spread was very good. The only slight drawback was the decor of the room and the corridors which could do with some rework.

Right opposite the hotel is a small venta which serves good food at cheap prices, but go to the grazelema village center for the real deal.

All in all enjoyed the trip and the hotel.

I just wonder if I was in the same hotel as most of these reviewers! I thought the staff were great, maybe a bit overworked, the waiter was also the barman despite the fact that the hotel blurb says that they support local communities by providing as much employment as possible. What really made me laugh was that the blurb also says that they use only organic locally sourced food. Check out the Lidl style bread buns, and the "plastic" cold cuts. I'll say no more except that we left after one night (we were happy to sacrifice 60euro to avoid another buffet "dinner").

We liked the hotel's location, right in the middle of nature. It is quite big and in May it was quite empty. It is a good starting point for visiting white villages and grazalema national park. The staff at the reception was very helpful.
