Greater than expected facility that had pretty much everything one could ask for. Good room, excellent breakfast, lovely pool area and beautiful surroundings! Only slight issue was perhaps poor indications on how to get there (few road signs pointing to the hotel).

The hotel is set in lovely grounds, with stunning views across the valley to the limestone ridges of the national park. There is a very nice swimming pool, a really excellent restaurant and bar, and great walking in the area. However, during school holidays, the hotel offers a family deal in which kids stay and eat free. Not surprisingly, this means large numbers of children staying, with all the associated noise around the pool and in public areas, amplified by the atrium design and tile floors. The children were not badly behaved, they were just children having fun, and it is great that the hotel has such a positive attitude to them (it is part of a chain which seems to have a very strong philosophy in terms of family and 'green' initiatives). However, if you are wanting to stay in this rural location for a period of quiet and peaceful reflection / relaxation, you will have to avoid school holidays (especially Spanish holidays which do not correspond exactly to English one's - we went early July, having read reviews about the noise during school holidays, and thinking we were a couple of weeks ahead of the hols - but in fact, Spanish schools had already broken up!)
The hotel restaurant has stunning views from the balcony and serves excellent food - an extensive buffet combined with freshly cooked (to order) meat and fish. The chef was very capable and knowledgeable .
So - a great place, but if you're after a bit of peace and quiet, watch those dates!

Thank you very much for your stay in Fuerte Grazalema during July and for your time writing this review. It has been a pleasure to know that you spent wonderful days with us.
We are happy to read that you could enjoy the location of our hotel, the views, the pool, restaurant, buffet and bar.
Regarding children, effectively in times of holidays there is many families staying at our hotel. If you are looking for peace and quiet we recommend your stay on dates that do not coincide with school holidays

We all are looking forward to welcome you again in the near future. Best regards

Opportunity to escape the heat of southern Spain. Wonderful pool, hiking trails and a beautiful pueblo blanco- Grazalema.
We were particularly impressed by "over-the-top" service provided by the evening manager, Julia who helped us extend our stay when I contracted a flu. She was extraordinarily gracious, knowledgeable and most of a great asset to the hotel.

Positive: location, pool & outside bar area, view, room comfortable, good breakfasts
Negative: reception a bit disorganised - we had to ask for room change as all our room preferences (double bed, upper floor, view to front) were ignored

If you're driving to this hotel from the Ronda direction it's easy to go straight past it. A visible sign at the entrance would be helpful. However, it's worth finding. The views from rooms, bar and restaurant are awesome. They do a good buffet but only when the hotel is fairly full. At other times the food choice is limited and drinks are expensive. We filled water bottles in the village where it is free, direct from the surrounding hills!

Our room was fine and kept spotlessly clean. The reception staff were very helpful. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool but it would surely be better to have towels at the same place rather than two steep floors up at reception.

The surrounding area is stacked with walks that cater for all levels of fitness and Grazalema is a delightful place just to stroll around.

We had 5 memorable days here and would have been happy to stay longer.
