“On top of the town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

This little bar/cafe is located up the hill, in the middle of the town, rather than being down around the main public areas at the bottom of the hill. Since were were staying in a house just a couple of blocks away, this was the closest bar and cafe to our house. Since it's located in a neighborhood, it's mostly frequented by locals and little or no English is spoken. Never the less, it's easy to order beer and tapas here, and we had dinner there one evening. Friendly staff. The food was good, and inexpensive. Not on the level of the restaurants "downtown", but it is convenient, easy and tasty if you're staying up in the center of town above the downtown area.

“Spanish Tapas at its best !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014

On a very wet Sunday afternoon in February I had a group of sixteen over 65's on a coach trip. I had looked up on Trip Advisor and an hour before lunch booked a table. We were greeted by a welcoming fire, a well laid table and the most handsome Spaniard you have ever seen ! He treated us to a selection of his best dishes, chorizo with scrambled eggs, fantastic salad, local mushrooms, local pork, all served with drinks bread and olives. Everything was fresh and well cooked, everywhere was spotless, the staff and the locals and of course the TV added to the atmosphere. It was the best trip I had ever taken even if it was so wet we did not get to see Grazalema ! It was worth the journey just for Gastrobar la Maroma. Great price as well.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2013

The bar itself is typical of the region and had the TV on (which we find a little strange). However, the food and service more than outweigh this.

The staff were friendly and gave us suggestions for food which we took and enjoyed. The house salad was the tastiest we had anywhere in Spain and the mushrooms (sepas) were delicious. The food was not only the best tapas we had on our trip but also the best value by far, change from 20EUR and we had 4 dishes and drinks!

The only downside is the bar is closed on Mondays so we didn't get to eat there a second night as we had intended.
