“Relaxing, peaceful and friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2013

We originally booked five nights at Hotel Carmen, but stayed on for another two, as we were having such a chilled out break. Our terrace overlooked the pool area and surrounding countryside and we saw some beautiful sunsets and sunrises.
The hotel owners are so helpful and made us feel very welcome.
We enjoyed wandering around the small town of Prado del Rey (in spite of the steep uphill walk to get there - good way of working up a thirst for a nice cool beer!!)
We liked hotel Carmen's peaceful location, the reasonably priced food and drinks, and the opportunity to enjoy an authentic Spanish region, well away from the main tourist areas. We would definitely return if in that area again.

We booked this hotel because we were going to a wedding at a Hacienda just down the road. It was perfectly situated on the road into Prado de Rey, with good parking at the front. We had a smallish but comfortable double room at the back of the hotel with its own terrace looking down onto the fabulous pool that we enjoyed after a delicious lunch in their restaurant. Plenty of sun beds or grass to lie on. The hotel provided us with large pool towels. The staff were delightful, friendly and helpful and didn't mind getting up at all hours to let in guests returning from the wedding. This hotel is perfectly placed for visiting the many interesting places in the region and definitely a good stopping off point say between Sevilla and Granada which is a 2.5 hour drive away on good roads through olives and sunflowers.

Room Tip: You can ask for a bigger room, they were full because of the wedding so we didn't have any choic...

I stayed in the Casa Rural at Hotel del Carmen with my family (2 adults and 2 children). It has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and living room, and is great for families. It was lovely! Quiet, gorgeous views, and a very traditional Spanish feel. The hotel staff is very gracious and helpful. The pool is so refreshing on the hot Andalusian summer days. Well located to see many area sites - we used it as a base and drove to Ronda, Jerez, and Seville, all within an hour and an easy commute.

Room Tip: Try the Casa Rural if you want more space for families.

We stopped here on a bike tour en route from the Via Verde to Zahara. Rooms were somewhat small and dark, but had a large balcony with a great view of the hills and a nice-looking pool area (it was too cold to swim when we were there). The town of Prado del Rey is a 15 walk uphill from the hotel (a potentially daunting trek if you've had a hard day of biking), but dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced for good quality food. The proprietor spoke decent English and was happy to chat about life in the area. Certainly pleasant enough for a night.

Ask for the room with the balcony and a great view to vineyards and mountain! Order some "tapas" at hotel bar, let them bring it to your room and enjoy the view and the meal all at once! Wake up in the morning (but not before 10 a.m. :-) ) and jump into the swimming pool! Then try some of delicious steaks in the hotel restaurant! And all for the reasonable price! Yes, I recommend this hotel!

this family run hotel was easy to find from Seville, very clean, very friendly with amazing views from the balcony of my room. Within easy walking distance of the town it was perfect to allow us to come and go as we please. Carlos and Vicky made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We well definitely go back to this little haven of peace and tranquility.
