Casitas de la Sierra
Reviewed 1 June 2014

This was our 5th visit to Montajaque over 15 years, the last 4 staying at Casitas de la Sierra and the last 3 in the same casita. Why do we keep coming back? Well stunning location, great views, lovely gardens, comfortable well appointed and spacious accommodation for a start. If you want to do not much then that's easy or if you want to walk or cycle, there are plenty of options from easy to demanding. Ronda is not far and always worth a visit. The spectacular scenary stretches for many hours in every direction if you want to tour around by car. Mentioning cars, having its own car park is a real bonus as parking in Montejaque is otherwise on road and the roads are narrow.

Montajaque is still a pleasant village that the limited new development has not spoilt, indeed little has change in the old parts in 15 years. The local food shops are adequate and there is a selection of bars. La Casita restaurant is very handy.

Jenny & Jordi were very welcoming and helpful. And on top of all the above, the cost of the accommodation is very reasonable for what you get.

A great place to spend your holidays. Andalucia was a big surprise to us not only regarding its breathtaking landscape but also the helpful and friendly behaviour of Jenny and Jordi, the couple that runs "Casitas de la Sierra".

Both of them were immediately on hand, when we needed some information, yet always respecting our privacy. They gave us useful advice about recommendable hiking tours, caves, lakes or interesting villages in the region, so that we felt at home at once.

"Casitas de la Sierra" is a beautiful place with a wonderful garden full of different flowers in a stunning mountainous area. The house we rented had two storeys with a terrace and a balcony offering a great view. The place was well-furnished with a lovely decor, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. We did not expect to get a housing-standard like this for such a reasonable price. Shops and restaurants at the main road of Montejaque can be reached easily in 5 minutes walk.

If you like spending your holidays in a quiet mountainous getaway off the beaten touristical track, then "Casitas de la Sierra" will perfectly suit you. We recommend hiring car to be able to explore the region.

We will definitely return in the near future to this lovely place.

Second time I was over here and it will not be the last. It's a perfect location for cycling and trailrunning trips in the magnificent neighboorhood. Once arrived, no more need of a car with bakery and minimarkets nearby.

Jeni and Jordi were great hosts. Their help and advice made us feel we had experienced the real Spain rather than the regular tourist things. From tapas specials in village bars with the locals to locally made churros, all treats we would not have been brave enough to try without recommendation. There was also help with local walks and places to visit. Rhonda is worth a visit as is Zahara and the other white villages where you feel like you have gone back in time. The complex is well kept and the fresh oranges and lemons from the trees in the garden were really good. Our party of 5 had plenty of room in the house El Ciruelo, the roof terrace was lovely in the sun and the log burner was well used in the chilly evenings. The location is great with its position in the village with views over the mountains and so quiet. If you want a peaceful holiday in a village location then this is the one for you.

The ideal getaway with brilliant hosts who understand when you need attention and when you don't!

We visited out of season but were lucky enough to have great weather, allowing us to explore the gorgeous scenery and surroundings. Long idyllic walks, followed by lazy reading sessions by the pool - we even managed a BBQ!!

The Casitas are quaint, comfortable and have everything you need for the perfect getaway. the photos on the website don't do it justice and it was the first time (in a long time!) that we arrived somewhere and got more than we were expecting!

The village itself is lovely and has more than enough to keep you occupied, brilliant Tapas bars, excellent views from the Mirador and little shops to get all of your necessities. A short trip to Ronda (by car) and you have even more to tempt you, plus the bridge (I won't say too much but it is jaw dropping).

We were a little sad to not be there in season as it meant that some of the more extreme activities weren't on, but we truly found more than enough to keep us entertained and it was a great start to 2014.

Jeni & Jordi are great hosts and will help you as much or as little as you need. Definitely worth a trip over - especially if you are UK based as it's only a short flight then drive, and you enter true Spain, not the one that us 'Brits' have taken over.....

Room Tip: Ask the hosts - we did and they gave us their honest opinion and even switched us into a better one...

Friendly staff, great views and lovely pool. Montejaque is a magic little town in the mountains with white houses and small roads. Wi-Fi access allowed me to keep in touch with office. Shops are handy and International Cuisine chef Max great person and talented chef! Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Bring mosquito repellent.

This is the sort of place you don't want to tell anyone about incase it gets too busy & We can't get booked again! What can I say....the views are breathtaking, the houses are very comfortable, well furnished, extremely clean & modern with lots of thought gone into the decor.
Very nice swimming pool with great views & a lovely restaurant where We enjoyed one of the nicest meals We have ever had. The owners are helpful, friendly & on hand if you need them but with no interference.
I honestly cannot think of ANYTHING bad to say! Worth noting also that they accept dogs...our black lab was made as welcome as We were.
Can't wait for our next visit!
