Owner description: This extraordinary zoo, one of the oldest in the U.S., underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in the 1980s and is still expanding. Its landscaping replicates the natural habitats of the numerous animals, some of which are endangered species. Four panda bears from China delight the crowds, and groups of gorillas separated by moats do their own share of entertaining.

“Happiest animals we've seen”
Reviewed 25 March 2012

The animal environments are amazing. Each one is specially designed to be like the natural habitat of the animal - except the orangutans which has lots of play areas for them. We've never seen a zoo so well designed for the animals.

“Fun Day with My 7 Yr old”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

My son actually took the zoo map and marked off EVERY animal and EVERY ride. Civic Center Marta stop and Bus 32 takes to the front entrance of the zoo. We used the Atlanta City Pass (Google, its way worth it if you are planning a visit to atlanta) and spent the morning and afternoon the zoo. Plenty of Shade, easy to walk around and not get lost. Great gift shops and places to eat and snack. Has a playground with parent sitting area, train, and attractions to keep kids interested.

The giant Pandas are AMAZING, the gorilla was about 200 feet and staring straight at us. We had wonderful views of many animals. Would take my kids again.
