Owner description: This extraordinary zoo, one of the oldest in the U.S., underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in the 1980s and is still expanding. Its landscaping replicates the natural habitats of the numerous animals, some of which are endangered species. Four panda bears from China delight the crowds, and groups of gorillas separated by moats do their own share of entertaining.

“Good Zoo, But Not Great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

Zoo Atlanta was a fun place to visit. It is, however, small. We have visited a lot f zoos on our travels and this was a small one. Nonetheless, it had some great exhibits with amazing animals. The gorillas were my favorite. I just loved watching the babies climb all over their mothers. My boyfriend loved the elephants. There were stages and attractions for kids and seemed like a good park to bring your kids and enjoy the day. I also like that it had plenty of shade while walking around. That could have been unpleasant in the heat. It was a good day and a fun zoo to visit.

“Poor excuse for a zoo”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

I was shocked at how poorly this zoo was kept. It was almost like the animals were either in the enclosure or they were no longer there (only a sign). When asked where the animals were they said they were waiting to get a replacement or the animal was asleep. Well why can't the animal sleep out in the open so kids can see them?

“Good zoo, pleasant day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

The Atlanta Zoo is OK, but there are larger zoos in Memphis and St. Louis. The zoo is well-organized, and the exhibits are appropriate. Still, the variety of animals is good for a small zoo, and the reptile house is good.

“Very good zoo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Zoo Atlanta has really improved over the past few years. The main highlights of this zoo are the panda exhibit, gorilla exhibit and the reptile house. Another nice thing about this zoo is that you can bring in a picnic lunch and there are plenty of picnic tables to use. They have a beautiful merry go round with different animals instead of horses and a cute little train that goes around the zoo.

“Love the Zoo!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Although we enjoy all the exhibits, my favorites are the gorillas, especially the babies and youngsters. And of course the Panda's. I'd never actually seen a panda before so it was exciting. We are local and have had a family membership the last two years. Don't get to go too often but at least twice a year. We were lucky on one visit to have a very personal experience with the tiger, just the glass between us. We've brought out of town visitors who always seem to really enjoy the experience.
