Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: This extraordinary zoo, one of the oldest in the U.S., underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in the 1980s and is still expanding. Its landscaping replicates the natural habitats of the numerous animals, some of which are endangered species. Four panda bears from China delight the crowds, and groups of gorillas separated by moats do their own share of entertaining.
Useful Information: Activities for young children, Activities for older children

With the exception of the panda exhibit, this zoo didn't offer much for young adults without children. We easily went through it in under 2 hours. Living in NC, the Asheboro zoo is the best around as well as SC's Riverbanks zoo. I would go back to those zoos before visiting Atlanta again.

Like most zoos expect tons of children and school busses. The zoo is small and usually very crowded. There is lots of parking and it’s centrally located.

I suggest bringing your own water and snacks as these get very costly. The food is not good here.

Even though it’s silly ride the train. You get a nice casual view of the park and the kids love it whilst being affordable.

If you are a photographer bring a zoom Lens. The animals keep their distance.

Great place for families and kids or groups. It has been many years since I visited Zoo Atlanta and I didn’t know when I would visit again. My most recent visit changed my mind. This place has changed for the good. I would recommend visiting Zoo Atlanta
