Owner description: This sanctuary became a spiritual haven for civil rights activists when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as senior pastor in the 1960s. On the self-guided audio tour, King's inspirational sermons will take visitors back in time, while the new Horizon Sanctuary across the street is home to the present day congregation, highlighted by its traditional tabernacle choir.

“Moving to see the family history of ministry.”
Reviewed 18 January 2014

The church has gorgeous stain glass windows. Be sure to take your time to look at all of them. The dark wood and red carpet has been kept up beautifully. You could feel the presence of Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a powerful man. The inflatable television took away from the room. I wanted to deflate it so that I could imagine Martin Luther preaching there.

The church has been restored to what it looked like during the time of Martin Luther King Jr and it is well worth visiting. Staff are really wonderful and helpful.

“Wonderful church home in a youthful family setting.”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

Pastor Warnock is a knowledgeable, dynamic speaker who is filled with The Spirit. Everyone feels welcomed in this warm and caring environment. We feel honored to sit among the many members who marched alongside Dr. M L King and visitors are present each week from literally all over the world. We love our new church home!

“a spiritual experience”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Discovering Martin Luther King in the context of his church is a moving experience. Just walking around the various rooms and the worship area, which have a very special atmosphere, is awesome.
Our only regret is that services are rarely held there, as the new replacement church has been built across the road.
It is also within walking distance of the Martin Luther King memorial and eternal flame.
Parking was good, especially when you consider it is in the heart of the city.
Staff are warm, friendly and inofrmative.
