Even though the hotel is undergoing extensive renovations, the entire staff worked really hard to make my stay enjoyable. I was in room 1701, a nice, spacious and above all, quite corner room. You most notice the work in progress on floors 1 and 2, as you check-in. That area is a bit cramped but still manageable. The location of the property is ideal, near Lenox and Phipps, self parking at $20 is reasonalbe by ATL standards and you have two nice restaurants (Houston's and Truffles Grill - if you go to the Grill you have to get the Mango Ice Tea) literally 20 yards from the front steps of the hotel. The valet and front doorman are super attentive as well. When you book, factor in the minor hassle of the renovations and make sure your rate matches accordingly.

Room Tip: Try for a corner room

Friendly Staff, Great Location, a Well known brand; but you should be aware that this hotel is being remodeled this summer, so there's little public space and the path to the main entrance and parking garage is quite complicated.
The Room's bathroom, didn't have any ventilation or extractor. I can't understand how that happened.
The Internet is available only using an ethernet connection. It's 2011, even the least expensive hotels now have Wi-Fi.

The hotel is very nice with good rooms and there is wonderful upscale shopping and restaurants within a few blocks but the walk to those shops is a bit seedy. Fine if you have a car and want to drive everyplace but not a good hotel for walking around.

Stayed here last summer and throughly enjoyed ourselves. The breakfast is awesome, location is great. Rooms were clean and the room service was prompt and accurate. Nothing bad to say, and I consider myself a hard sell. Look forward to returning!

Booked a night here to be close to Buckhead and a mall. Great choice-the hotel is attached to the Lennox Mall which has great slightly higher end stores and an amazing steak and sushi place called Prime - yummmeeee. The room was large and the bed was king size with plenty pillows and REALLY REALLY comfy. Check in was a breeze even though hotel lobby is undergoing what looks like an amazing upgrade. Will DEFINITELY stay here again and probably 2 nights so we can shop and dine more :) Thanks guys and girls.

A stay at a luxury hotel such as the JW should not be as complicated as the one we experienced. One expects the staff to be highly trained and follow through with reservations without a glitch. Such staff should know that when a Platinum member reserves a room with double beds, they are guaranteed those double beds or the hotel must pay compensation. We arrive with such a reservation, only to be asked if a King is sufficient, which we kindly reply No, only to get a grimace followed by fast typing. The beds are eventually "found", but the woman then feels the need to add that we will not be getting an upgrade because we were lucky to get the double beds.

The staff also manage to make the joining of two reservations incredibly complicated. During the course of 3 days, we were incorrectly checked out of the hotel twice. Late one evening, we were interrupted 3 times within 30 minutes as various levels of the staff came to the room and even called the room to try and figure out the reservations. For the first time ever, we contacted Marriott management who assured us the problem was resolved. The next morning we incorrectly had a bill under our door, meaning they still did not have our reservation accurate after 2 days.

To further add to the inconvenience, the key cards to the concierge level also kept getting deactivated. We had to wait at the front desk line (with only 2 associates during the busy 4th of July weekend) 4 times in 3 days just to reactivate the cards. These cards have never been an issue at other hotels.

It is our hope the JW can learn from these errors so they can improve their quality of service to all guests and to treat their most loyal customers with the same level of dedication. The JW is a good hotel, but it would be an excellent hotel if the quality of service matched the quality of the rooms.

We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Buckhead for our anniversary and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is in a high rise building in the heart of Buckhead and connected to Lenox Square Mall. We were greeted promptly when we arrived and we did use valet parking (parking is very high--$30 per night). Our check-in was quick and we stayed on the 9th floor with a view of the front. They are in the middle of renovations so there was a little bit of confusion on where to go but there were people and signage to guide you. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I had requested extra feather pillows and they had them waiting for me in the room. Actually when we got back from dinner, they had strawberries and champagne waiting on us--very classy! I look for the extra touches and they definitely exceeded my expectations! The driver (Richard) took us to our restaurant and picked us up. He was very friendly and prompt. All of the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately our cable was out on our TV and they offered to move us or give us a complimentary breakfast--we took the breakfast. The buffet was delicious but I would not have paid for it unless we got it comp. The buffet is $20.00 per person--very high for what they offered in selection. I was surprised to see most of the amenities were over priced--Wi-fi, water, room service, parking, etc.

I would recommend this hotel for business travelers or for quick getaways.
