My husband and I stayed the weekend in the cottage. This is a lovely Victorian B&B, centrally located in the Inman Park area. The cottage is in the back, not part of the main house. So, it's not as elegant, but is clean, roomy & close to the shaded backyard garden. Loved the comfortable bed in the loft and rain shower./jacuzzi tub. Skylights make the cottage light and airy. We would definitely stay here again. Josie, our hostess, was delightful.

The Sugar Magnolia was a perfect choice for my spring visit to Atlanta. Azaleas, Dogwoods and Wisteria abounded everywhere in the city, and particularly in this beautiful Victorian neighborhood. I had never been to Atlanta before, and after landing and taking MARTA to the convenient Inman Park station, I took the short walk to the house. It was mid-afternoon, and I was warmly greeted by Josie, who immediately made me feel welcome. She does not know a stranger. I had a beautiful, quiet cottage apartment out back. Jim and Debi are wonderful hosts, serving delicious breakfasts in a gracious, but not stuffy enviornment. They generously share their spacious front rooms with guests. They are interesting, friendly, busy professionals, and have the B & B thing down pat. The Sugar Magnolia is a great choice for anyone visiting Atlanta. If you get a chance, ask Josie about her antique Cadillac. You will be an instant friend!

At first sight, Sugar Magnolia Bed and Breakfast looks like a bowl of sherbert! However, the gorgeous exterior of this Queen Anne Victorian home, with its large, welcoming front porch, is only the beginning. We were warmly welcomed by Debi, the B&B owner, and were shown our room, The Aviary. The ceiling is actually hand painted with birds! Our bed was comfortable and cozy, and we greatly enjoyed the closeness of Sugar Manolia to the city of Atlanta as well as its proximity to quirky Little Five Points, with its eclectic mix of restaurants and shopping. Sitting on the front porch in the early evening with a cold beverage was a wonderful way to relax after a day of sight-seeing. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyable as Jim, co-owner of the B&B, served us and shared a wealth of information about events in the city. Sugar Magnolia was our very first bed and breakfast experience; needless to say, we're hooked!

To start the house is beautiful, and the neighborhood seems exceptionally nice. Didn't feel at all worried about parking on the street.

Inside it felt like grandmas house, comfy, nice, and clean with well kept antiques, but cracked plaster, creaking doors and floorboards, and cobwebs also present. Clean, just not what I expect out of a B&B.

The other funny thing that made it feel like grandmas is that it felt like if you had over stayed your welcome and though grandma would never ask you to leave, if you did she wouldn't mind at all. I got that kind of vibe from the hosts, from day one! It was odd, we were thinking about staying there 3 nights, but ended up only staying two.

Breakfast was nice, but the hosts barely talked (that strange vibe again) had waffles with fruit and granola cereal one day and a decent vegetable quiche and fruit bowl the next. If it wasn't for the other guests it would have been a long breakfast. The other guests said they were getting the same vibe as us from the hosts. Like I said, it was odd. The hosts were really nice......just an odd "please leave" vibe......

The place couldn't be more accessible though, close to town, yet you feel well away from it. Location made this place for us. We drove everywhere and this place was in the center of it all.

Probably won't stay here again if/when we go back to Atlanta, but by no means was it a "bad" experience.

We are very sorry that Kuthulazrah wasn't completely satisfied...we certainly enjoyed them and we recall having nice breakfast conversations about Sevierville (I am also from East Tennesssee) the kind of work the guests do back home and all the sites they had visited in Atlanta. If they ever come back, we will be sure to have longer chats with them - we tend to follow our guests' lead and visit as much (or as little) as they wish.

Wandering through beautiful Victorian homes and tulip magnolias in bloom at twilight, I came home to the Sugar Magnolia B & B. A Southern girl by ancestry with Colorado roots by birth, I couldn't imagine enjoying my experience more. The inn itself is lovely to behold with a delightful front porch and surrounding gardens that invite you to skip your business and sip a complimentary beer or Coca Cola (this is Atlanta home of the king of soda) and breathe in the atmosphere as you wait for your reservation at Tamarind Thai, Cafe Tutu Tango or the wonderful neighborhood restaurants.
Inside you are greeted by interesting and gracious hosts that know Atlanta and can advise you accordingly on how to make your stay exceptional. They have taken great care with continuing the restoration of a grand house and have created an environment easily enviable and true to the soul of relaxation. The rooms are furnished in a comfortable, lovely simplicity that allows your mind to relax without the distraction of a heavily adorned Victorian antique atmosphere. Comforts such as robes, hot drinks, books, televisions, and complimentary beverages are available to fully allow you to feel at home.
Breakfast was a treat to enjoy each morning. Again, it was excellent and simple with a daily variety of choices including a mouthwatering entree such as Belgian waffles with strawberries or broccoli and cheese quiche with a delicious selection of fruit, cereals and beverages.
Travel was easy as the train station was 10 minutes at a brisk walk with easy availablity to many desired locations including the airport, Crawford-Long hospital and others.
I can't wait to come back to the neighborhood Arts & Crafts fair in April. My trip to Atlanta would not be complete if the Sugar Magnolia was not my place of rest. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
