I highly recommend the symphony. We drove out to Alpharetta and were very impressed with the venue and concert!

Historically, the ASO has enjoyed a very good reputation and is an excellent orchestra and arts bastion of Atlanta. However it has seen some days of struggle in recent years. Last nights concert at the Verizon Amphitheater in Alpharetta, GA is another example of this issue. It was to be a concert highlighting American patriotic music in celebration of the upcoming 4th of July holiday which it most certainly was. One would have thought the venue would have been crowded but alas, perhaps not even half filled. The program seemed to be a bit fractured, though there were moments of brilliance by new Assistant Conductor Joseph Young. However, the orchestra seemed to struggle in some of the numbers for cohesiveness in style and sound. Probably the most important point however is that the offering was 1 hour of performance, with a 1/2 hour of intermission. Very short indeed compared to other offerings. We suspect with a more robust and longer offering, the attendance might improve significantly.

Nonetheless, a very enjoyable evening.

My 11 year olds class took a trip to see the Symphony. The symphony was absolutely amazing and the kids truly enjoyed it. Definitely a must see attraction.

We visited the Atlanta Symphony Friday evening for the Delta Classical Concert. The first piece, Asimov at Star's End, was a discordant mess, but the Hindemith Symphony and the Brahms Concerto for Violin & Orchestra were terrific. Guest soloist Joshua Bell was very good and very enthusiastic.

I want to compliment the Atlanta Symphony on their performance hall and gift shop.

We have been subscribers to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for years and have yet to be disappointed with a concert. We have attended orchestra concerts around this country and abroad and always come home impressed with the quality of our local band. I only wish they had a better hall in which to play. The new acoustical shell is a great improvement however. If you love classical music do yourself a favor and attend a concert by one of the finest orchestras in the country right here in your own back yard.
