Description: Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.

I love this restaurant. During a recent trip to Atlanta I made certain to carve out time here for lunch. Just like my first time, the food was excellent, service was superb, and atmosphere was lovely, and the price was very reasonable. Totally a worthwhile place to eat when you come into town, you won't regret making the time for a meal here!

Trying to relive our trip to Germany a few years ago. Nice atmosphere. Beer was great, food was just ok and a little too expensive.

Loved the food! Tested just like the German food my Omi used to make when I was little. Highly recommend it.

Our party of 3 (2 of whom are quite knowledgable regarding German food) visited early on a mid week evening. Service was very friendly and very fast. Wait staff was knowledgable and very eager to serve. The quality of the food was outstanding and the most authentic I have had outside of Milwaukee, WI and Germany itself. Rare to find good spatzle and true German potato salad. Roast pork was outstanding and wurst is the best!

Large selection of genuine German beers, not the synthetic, brewed in US crap, you usually find in US restaurants.

Free parking with stamped ticket across the street (a big deal since the area does not have convenient parking). It's also nice that Der Biergarten has a bar area, a white table cloth area, and a more traditional down home common table area, giving you choices of eating style.
