Owner description: The home of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company, the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse on Peachtree Street has an enchanting history and a prime location in downtown Atlanta. We are a professional theatre with food and drinks available before each performance (and don't forget the apple crisp at intermission!)

Expecting to be bored with a Shakespeare play, because have seen quite a lot of them. But, this ensemble did a good job of bringing in present day humor into Shakespeare. It was a two hour show, which went by quickly, because the entertaining was on cue. Recommend anyone who is planning to visit Atlanta.

If you go 75 minutes before the show, you are able to eat there. The food is good, but it is self service. Go up to the counter, order it and take it to your table.

FYI: Parking is a pain. You have to search for a parking area, that looks safe. You do park a distance, about a ten minute walk.

If you like Shakespeare, you will probably like this experience. If you don't like Shakespeare, I am not sure what is wrong with you, but you will probably also like this experience. It's fun, often interactive, and food and adult beverages are served in a small Globe Theatre style setting. I would recommend this for teenagers and adults, but not for very young children unless the program is especially for them.

We were successful in gettng tickets less than three hours before a Sunday evening show, on the spur of the moment. The venue is indeed pub-like and comfortable and the acting is professional. Seating is first come first serve, but even those arriving 10 minutes before curtain got fine seats.

We saw Taming of the Shrew and couldn't stop laughing! The food and drink are simple, reasonable, and tasty; most of the service staff are volunteers and genuinely interested in both serving and the theatre.

We are casual theatre-goers and certainly not Shakespeare afficianados, but found the evening thoroughly enjoyable - we recommend without reservation!

I've been to Shakespeare performances from outdoor venues to the Globe. This was a fun, relaxed environment. Even balcony seats give an intimate feeling of being a fly on the wall. The company obviously enjoy themselves and react to the emotions of the audience. Unpretentious, accessible Shakespeare.

We had a great time here. I'm not generally a huge Shakespeare fan, but this company made Shakespeare interesting and relatable. We saw A Comedy of Errors, which was hilarious with their physical comedy. Everyone did a great job, really giving it their all. The food was so-so, but that's to be expected. I'd go again if I'm ever in Atlanta again.
