Was given a gift certificate to this restaurant and was not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. The menu had some unusual offerings but we came to learn that most of the items are authentic Nigerian foods. We had appetizers, spinach dip with delicious pita chips that were warm and really fresh. My husband had the spicy mussels and he really enjoyed them. We are not adventurous so for dinner I ordered salmon and my husband had the Cajun shrimp fettucini. I also had a side of coconut infused rice with beans....yummy. We were too full to have desert. The prices are reasonable and the although small the restaurant has an eclectic vibe. It is easy to find and there is valet parking available for just $5. The staff was friendly and took the time to explain the menu to us. We also learned a little about the history of the building. I don't understand the negative reviews, we will be going back.

Went for the lobster Mac and cheese. They said they were out that's fine she we said we will cancel the food order and just pay for our drinks they said lobster Mac and cheese would be ready in five minutes. So we stayed and the lobster Mac and cheese was a much smaller portion than out last visit. Less than half the size at the same price . Lobster make seemed milky tasted bad,
Jerk wings were way too spicy , turkey sliders had cheese menu didn't mention cheese. Service wasn't bad but food was terrible

After waiting two hours for food the food was horrible. The GM Victor didn't care & had a very negative attitude towards our experience. He never apologized. On top of that the restaurant wasn't even busy at all we were the only couple sitting besides the bar area. Don't get irritated & mess up a good date night choose another spot. I wouldn't go back if I was offered free food for a party of 25.

In December 2012 I produced an upscale charity event at Metro Fuxon. We reserved the dinner area and accommodated 45 guests. The restaurant at that time was managed by Anitra. The execution of the event was flawless. We of course returned to the venue for the December 2013 event. During the early stages of meeting with the restaurant we learned that Anitra was no longer the manger, which frankly should have been a red flag, yet we were assured by Victor (current GM) that all things would be taken care of. Victor was also familiar with the event from the previous year. Though we met on two occasions at least three months prior, spoke over the phone, and exchanged emails with Victor, Metro Fuxon’s execution this year was absolutely atrocious. Special guests included corporate representatives, politicians, and a star of a Bravo Reality TV series, yet we encountered numerous embarrassing scenarios, as follows:

Conflicting Event on Facebook

On the day before our event an associate was informed about an event being marketed on FB called “Throwback Thursday”, the event invite had been sent to over 1,500 people and over 300 indicated “Going”. The event was hip-hop driven and featured online images of Rick Ross, Drake and other rappers. Needless to say this was destined to be a significant culture clash. I called the venue and spoke with the bar manager. To their credit, they reached the gentlemen and he cancelled the event. Once can only imagine the shock and dismay of my guests had they arrived to a charity event, clashed with “Throwback Thursday”.

Venue not prepared.

Though the event was scheduled to start at 7PM, the dinner/stage area was not ready. There were numerous lounge chairs and couches in the area, which means there were insufficient tables and chairs for guests seating. I talked with a gentleman there that refers to himself as “Face”, he initially rebuffed my request to have the couches moved, which surprised me given that they were fully aware that 70 plus guest were arriving! He suggested that maybe some of the guests can “sit on the couches and eat”, which was an asinine suggestion since the event required After Five or Semi Formal attire. Ultimately, they mopped the floor, moved the couches, brought in tables and chairs – all of which should have been done earlier – which delayed the event start up by an hour. Guests began arriving on time at 7PM. They were required to wait in the lobby, even though they paid from $30 to $70 per ticket!

Dinner Served Enormously Late

The worst infraction by far was the fact that guests were served dinner in a very unorthodox manner, as well as painstakingly late. There were encounters when at a table with several guests, one person may be served yet it would take upwards of thirty minutes for another person at the same table to be served! In one case a guest that arrived at 7PM, the appropriate time, had not eaten by 9PM. She is a diabetic and nearly became ill while waiting to be served. We had to request for a starch item to be brought to her from the kitchen in order to prevent the sickness. A guest at her table offered some of her food to the affected attendee. Bottles of wine that were ordered were brought to the table, still corked, but there were long wait periods for waiters arrived to remove the corks. Certain guests waited until the conclusion of the program and still had not eaten; some received their food to go, in plastic bags, which was far removed from their expectation and mine. Watching guests having to be reduced to taking “To Go” dinners from a Semi-Formal event was embarrassing, to say the least.

Dinner Tickets Collected for Dinners Not Served

In our agreement with Metro Fuxon, we were scheduled to pay $X for each dinner served. Each guest was required to give the waiter or waitress a custom ticket for their dinner. Because some of the dinners were served several hours late, certain guests left without eating, yet they had given the wait staff a ticket. We therefore ultimately paid for more dinners than were served. We later discovered that the problem was that only one chef/cook was in the kitchen during most of the event.

Again, we paid the full price of our responsibility to the Metro Fuxon. I sent a letter to Victor detailing our horrible experience, and though their service was abhorrent, we only requested a thirty percent (30%) refund. The letter was sent to Victor twice, and a third time was copied to Tommy, No one responded though the event was over one month ago. The establishment is a flux. They range from a restaurant to a nightclub; an upscale establishment, to a hip hop hangout. Their confusion and inconsistency portends a death knell for any upscale event. Seriously reconsider before booking Metro Fuxon for anything of caliber. They have become a den of hip-hoppers, hookahs and bad management.

User beware!

If Ogbono, Egusi, pounded yam & pepper soup sound like music to your ears....you should try this place. After 10pm, the place turns into a night club. A group (almost 30 ppl) of us ate here and had almost no complaint about the food. The staff were friendly. I recommend this place.
