“Awful Service - Good (but over-priced) Gluten Free”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2014

The Atmosphere –
Good location, but the parking lot is difficult to navigate – if you have to go around the back of the building it gets very narrow/tight…proceed slowly. Pretty standard pizza type place on the inside. For the most part it was clean

The Food –
Greek Salad – Pretty standard – good dressing – really big.

Mighty Meaty Gluten Free Pizza – we came here specifically to try the Gluten Free Pizza and it turns out it was pretty good. The crust was nice and crunchy. However, like most places, there is a ridiculous up-charge for gluten free.

The Service –
We came here for a Saturday lunch. There seemed to be only two servers for the entire restaurant (which was pretty full). Service, needless to say, was AWFUL, LOUSY, TERRIBLE (pick your own word). We waited forever to be acknowledged. Our server also seemed to be working the bar and many times we would see her just standing at the bar talking to people (not working). Our Salad took forever to come out - once our server was finished socializing at the bar, she finally went back and made our salad (it probably took around 20 minutes to get).

The Value –
Terrible value – way overcharge for Gluten Free items – not surprisingly, they don’t even list the prices on the Gluten Free menu. Service was the WORST we have ever experienced anywhere...and it's not because she was terribly busy, just inattentive. Other tables were seemingly ignored too.

Conclusion –
Despite, the pizza being good, we will NEVER go back here. Maddio's has better gluten free anyway.

“Best pizza in Town!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 December 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

We usually go to mellow mushroom for lunch and sometimes dinner. After trying many different pizza places in atlanta we think this is the best place. It has hip decor and great service most of the times. Sometimes service might be slow if there is a rush.

A little pricey, but worth it! My family was able to get their typical meat-laden pizza and I got a pizza w/ oil& garlic, lots of veggies, & VEGAN cheese.... it was delicious!!

“Not my favorite pizza”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2013

Mellow mushroom pizza is far from my favorite pizza. I had heard others talking about eating at mellow mushroom and we decided to try it for ourselves. The crust was tasteless and the pizza itself was not much better.

“Damn That's Good Calzone!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2013

I first enjoyed this Mellow Mushroom location back in the 80's. Always fresh and tasty. Visited today for a quickie Monday lunch and was blown away by the consistent freshness of the House Calzone. Damn that is good calzone! This was a late lunch for the two of us but the joint was half full of happy diners. The service and music was very friendly, hip and fast. Mellow Mushroom on Lavista has updated it's look, art and feel since our last visit...but the food still stands steady as a great place for salad, pizza and craft beers. I complimented the server on the freshness (who had jumped into the role of cook with two other guys as I noticed from the open kitchen format) and he told me they get everything fresh every day. This place is right next door to Whole Foods Market...so you can't lose on freshness. It is so simple in this day and time to present hot fresh food when you care about quality. A half veggie hoagie, salad, couple of freshly brewed ice tea, and house calzone was all $20. Good deal. If you are in Midtown-Morningside or Emory area...Mellow Mushroom is still serving strong!
