We were shopping close by and stopped at IHOP because it was convenient. The food was wretched, but we learned a valuable lesson about ordering at IHOP. We made the mistake of ordering entrees (pot roast). It sounded like good comfort food on a cold, damp day. Mine came with mashed potatoes and corn. Instead of big chunks of juicy meat, the meat was shredded beef that was overcooked. Potatoes were straight from a box of potato flakes and the corn was artificially bright yellow and sugary sweet. Delicious hot chocolate came with whipped cream and caramel, but loaded with calories and sugar.
On a positive note, the menu highlights a few items that are low calorie and healthier. Plus, there’s a separate, and less expensive, menu with smaller portions for those 55 and older.
My advice, stick to what they do best, eggs and pancakes.
