Older hotel that has had major modernisation. Reception area well designed. Average size room, very comfortable bed. We were in Atlanta for less than 24 hours so difficult to comment on location other than short walk to Coca Cola world. Reception staff and parking valet very helpful. Probably a bit overpriced.

After reading reviews I chose not to do Valet, and just walked a few blocks and self parked- which ended up being fine but didn't save us more than a few dollars total.

The front desk staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We checked-in almost 2 hours early, and gladly waited 10 minutes for them to clean the room. Every staff we encountered was very polite-except for the housekeeping on the 16th floor. We had requested new pillow shams after finding hair shortly upon arrival, and maybe she was having a rough day...because she was not welcoming or polite by any means. She also knocked on our door about 15 minutes prior to check-out (even though we still had the "do not disturb" sign on the door) and after answering the door she says "just checking to see if you'd checked-out".

Not a huge deal, we were still enjoying our stay. We were in a corner room on the 16th floor and had a great view! Bed was comfortable, and we enjoyed the higher quality touches in the bathroom with the tiled shower.

The location is fabulous and very convenient to a lot of restaurants and activities nearby.

Aside from the one grouchy housekeeper- our stay was wonderful!

Room Tip: corner suites are great-higher floors have the best views!

This is a charming smaller hotel in a convenient location. It is an affordable and quaint choice in an area filled with large chain hotels—Westin, Sheraton, Ritz. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. It doesn’t have the amenities of a larger hotel but it does have a certain charm. They do have a problem with their billing system. I had trouble in check in with finding the reservation and figuring out how to bill a university account. I received rtwo phone calls at home after I checked out (be careful about giving them your phone number) and still had an incorrect charge on my credit card. After a long phone call, they eventually fixed the problem, with barely an apology. Better training of staff (and more polite management) is needed.

As I noted, it is a small hotel; there are only 9 rooms per floor. Most of the rooms face either the main street (Peachtree) or out the back, looking at the brick wall of the neighboring Courtyard Hotel. The front facing rooms are nice and bright, but there is road construction going on outside and a lot of street noise. The back rooms are extremely quiet. The front desk clerk was kind enough to give me an option—do ask for the type of room that works best for you. The small number of rooms per floor means that all are relatively close to the elevator. I was concerned that it might be noisy but it was not a problem at all.

There is also a “women’s floor”. All floors requires a key to activate the elevator so are equally safe, the difference is in the amenities which include a hair iron, robes and slippers. The bath products and bed linens are nice. There is plenty of shampoo and conditioner, none of the frustration of coaxing a tiny amount of product out of little bottles. There were also plenty of towels (although they seemed to be of lower quality than the bed linens).

The hotel has a small fitness center stocked with water and towels, and a business center to help with last minute printing. I had breakfast at the restaurant. It was a buffet for just $15 but it was really sub-par. There was fresh melon and berries, what seemed like frozen or at least boxed pastries, granola and one type of yogurt--none of the cereal, toast, or bagels of most buffets. The hot food selection was a bit better but the quality was not good. The waitstaff was inattentive (as were the valets at both check-in and check-out). I would recommend skipping the breakfast and going elsewhere; it is not their strength.

The hotel is located near a MARTA station which goes directly to the airport—it is a simple trip and not much more time consuming than a cab. There is a large food court a couple of blocks away—most of the food stations close early but it can be a convenient option. There is also a CVS nearby. There are, however, more convenient areas for evening entertainment. The aforementioned street construction is for a trolley that will take tourists to all the major Atlanta sites—Olympic Park, the Coke is a decent choice, particularly if you want a break from the chains.

I would skip the valet parking. The attendant seemed to spend all his time on his cell phone while cars sat in the street waiting to be parked. There are cheaper options nearby.

Ellis Hotel is an amazing example of professionalism and hospitality. And the BEDS are PERFECT!!! We arrived the evening of the final day of shutdown in Atlanta due to a random ice storm. We know that this hotel had been overbooked, folks sleeping in the lobby and likely the kitchen short on everything, HOWEVER....had we not known the situation, we NEVER would have known the situation. This boutique hotel is amazing, as is the breakfast, coffee, and dinner. The staff is wonderful and the bar area is just quaint enough for comfort as you would have at home, if not more!! ( we have toddlers, haha). You will be pleased stayine here. Period. As we travel to Atlanta 6 times. Year this is a permanent fixture for us. ENJOY!!!!

Room Tip: They are upgrading all sheets, so ask for a room with the new ones....we got lucky and had the newes...

Used TA to choose this hotel and so no surprises. Great room, really good size, good amenities - bit surprised that there was no safe in the room, there are safety deposit boxes in reception though. Staff really helpful from the valet, the receptionist through to the porter.
Room and bathroom really clean and obviously refurbished. Another plus is the free wi-fi. Why don't all hotels provide this?

We stayed here during a special trip to the area and were pretty happy with this choice! Location is good although a little confusing to get into! All valet parking at $25 nightly added to your bill! We parked and used the MARTA for the entire 3 days which was very convenient to the Ellis if you feel comfortable using it! Our room did not get cleaned the 2nd night we were there because we asked them to come back after we were gone (which would only have been about 10 mins). Overall a nice place but not 5 stars.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately all Downtown Hotels charge for valet parking service. There are some surface self serve parking lots in and around the hotel but they don't offer free ins or outs or the safety of a covered garage.

My friend and I just enjoyed a delightful weekend in Atlanta, being tourists for 2 days. The Ellis is in the perfect location for that - and we got our stay at a great price.

The Ellis is very comfortable, with exactly what we needed and nothing we didn't. Our double double room on the 15th floor was quiet, with super beds and bedding, good internet connection, adequate lighting. And - amazing - a bath with a mirror that doesn't stay fogged up forever. Coffee and newspapers right downstairs in the morning. Extremely well-run valet service. As a matter of fact, all the staff were more than helpful.

We particularly appreciated the Ellis' efforts to stay allergy-free. My friend was able to sleep without waking two nights in a row.

And Centennial Park, shops, restaurants, etc. etc. all within easy walking distance. Perfect!

Room Tip: Our room was on the 15th floor. Would recommend it.

Green Features: The hotel's ventilation system and air quality controls made a difference! [There is a special device in every room.] My friend's sleep is usually interrupted with breathing issues. Not at the Ellis.
