The Grand Hyatt Atlanta has just about everything travelers expect from a "Grand" Hyatt. The lobby is elegant and inviting, the rooms are comfortable, well-appointed, and reasonably spacious. I found the staff to be courteous and helpful, and never during my two-day stay was there more than a short line at the reception desk or anywhere else. There's a modern and well-equipped fitness center, a great outdoor pool, and a convivial bar/lounge that doubles as a coffee shop in the morning. My room on the nineteenth floor had a beautiful view of the downtown Atlanta skyline with Stone Mountain in the distance. And Buckhead is the best place to stay in Atlanta, close to shopping, restaurants, Emory University, many offices, and easy transportation to other parts of town.

Some reviewers have noted that the valet parking fee ($30) and the breakfast ($22) at the Grand Hyatt are rather expensive. I didn't have a car, so I didn't try the less expensive self-parking, but it's right next to the hotel and does not look dangerous or inconvenient. And there are lots of other options for breakfast, including the hotel coffee shop -- I had a cappuccino and a cinnamon roll for under $10 -- and a few other places within easy walking distance.

For fans of MARTA, Atlanta's convenient and inexpensive light-rail system, the Grand Hyatt is about a seven-or-eight minute walk from the Buckhead station. There are frequent trains to and from the airport; the trip takes about 30 minutes and costs $2.50. The MARTA station is on the same side of the street as the Hyatt -- the hotel web site says it's one block from the hotel, but it's really more like two or three short blocks with a good sidewalk -- so it's easy if the weather is OK and you don't have more than a rolling carry-on and a briefcase or computer bag. Obviously it's not so easy if you have more luggage or if it's raining, but there are free shuttles (some provided by the hotel and others by the city) from the hotel to MARTA and to the nearby Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza shopping malls.

Room Tip: Ask for a high-floor room with a view of the downtown Atlanta skyline.

Everything you would expect from a five star property. We enjoyed our time here. Our room was very nice, all the staff seemed to know us by name after the second day( we stayed four), and the location is ideal if you want to see Buckhead.

Room Tip: Have breakfast in the lobby shop. There's Starbuck's coffee, cereals, bagels, bearclaws, all...

I called last minute since the hotel we had previously booked was simply not what we expected... they were very accommodating at getting us a room! From the moment we pulled up the service was beyond amazing! Everyone was so helpful and we never wanted for anything! The valet fee ($30) was very steep and the breakfast ($22 a person) was good....but not that good. Other than those two things we absolutely loved our stay here!

My sister booked for $75 a night through Priceline. After reading reviews of the hotel, I was a little nervous, but it turned out all for nothing. We found the hotel easily and check in was a breeze. We opted to self-park since we were only there for a weekend. The parking garage is not far at all. It wasn't scary at all and we had no problem getting in and out. However, it would be a lot easier if your room key card worked at the garage instead of taking a ticket and then giving your information to the attendant as you leave.

We were on the 9th floor with a slight view of the pool, if you mashed your face up to the window. The room was clean and after reading about AC problems, we found ours worked fine. Even though we had corner room, it was a tad bit small. The bathroom was nice, bigger than I've seen in other hotels, and it had a window as well. The tub didn't drain while taking a shower, but we never reported it. Should have, but we didn't.

Overall, it was a nice hotel and was centrally located. I enjoyed our stay, and as this was my first at a Hyatt, I will be staying with this chain again.

Great Visit, was here years ago too. Staff is great, always there when you want them but not in your way. Room rate good for the area, had a cornor room. Pool was fun, got a bit full on the 4th but that is to be expected. Only minor complaint is the bar/drink prices but they gotta make money somehow to pay the property tax. Walking distance to a lot of great places....Lenox Mall, Marta--that will get you anywhere in the city. WIll stay there again next year for the Peachtree Road Race.

Room Tip: Front of building/corner/high floors to see all of the city

The room we were staying in was big with a huge bathroom. The staff were incredibly friendly. The wait staff at Cassis were attentive and ready to help. The bellman, conceirge and drivers were a big help too.

The buffet at Cassis is incredible (but pricey!). The hotel is located a few blocks from the MARTA so getting to downtown Atlanta was easy.

We throughly enjoyed our stay, I'm just glad that someone else paid for the tab as it's on the pricey side.

I have stayed here several times. Every time I use Priceline bid to book a hotel in Atlanta, this is the one that comes up. For the price I paid it was great. I have paid a lot more to stay at a Hampton Inn. The hotel is nicely decorated, the staff is attentive, the room was clean, We had no problems during our stay. the parking is expensive, but then this is Buckhead.
