“Great location, very decent price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2012

I'd definitely recommend this hotel on location alone. so close to everything we did. The night staffer left a little to be desired. I couldn't figure out how to enter (we arrived somewhat late) and he just watched me try to figure it out. then he didn't really give me any info about wi-fi or breakfast or the ice machines/vending or parking. Most of our questions we had to call back and ask. BUT the day staff was wonderful! breakfast was very adequate and the staff pretty much offered to make you anything or clean anything up for you. very friendly. Parking was a little tight, but it was to be expected (it is also an additional fee, which is again to be expected I guess). The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but I loved the shower and the toiletries were from Bath and body works which I loved.

Your points / observations were on target. Pleased that you liked our hotel....
and that... you did encounter our staff that was... wonderful and friendly.

As for that night staffer...it's true that one employee...oblivious to commen sense and courtesy...
can...and did make for...a bad impression.

it's good then...that you did "see" and experience...
a number of good people and "things" during your stay.

As for that night staffer...it did cause us to...investigate...and...saddly...
we found other guests...
who had experience that same "type of"...attitude...from that specific employee
it was not a "singular" occurance.

Wanderwoman33...while you are a senior contributor...and I take that seriously...
it was not the only reason...I decided to take...corrective action on this attitude matter today.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention...albeit...through this trip advisor commentary.

Hope to see you again

This hotel was a delight. The room was clean and nice. The rooms have outside doors but is very secure due to it being a highrise. The two ladies who cook the breakfast were the delight of my day. Yes, they had fresh cooked scrambled eggs. They were friendly and so helpful. I watched them wrap a breakfast in plastic wrap so the guest could take it with them. They made sure I had all I needed and even sacked up my apples. They need a raise. The front desk was friendly and kind. I will stay here again.

I was in Atlanta for Hawks Basketball and Falcons Football games and chose this hotel due to its very reasonable rates compared to other hotels in the area and that fact that it seemed relatively close to both the Philips Arena and the Georgia Dome. In fact it proved to be even closer than I thought to these venues with even a relatively unfit person like myself managing the walk there in less than fifteen minutes (and I'm sure it can be done faster by those in shape!)

As the hotel is within good walking distance of the sporting arenas, it also is very handily located for World of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium and the CNN centre. It's also handily located on West Peachtree Street near some great restaurants and bars and near the Peachtree Centre MARTA station, which is handy if you want to travel further afield too.

Even as a solo traveller I felt safe in the general location and by getting there along the main West Peachtree strip you're very much in a busy area with plenty of police presence to calm you. Some of the side streets are dark and un-populated but again, I never felt unsafe or threatened.

The hotel room itself was perfectly functional with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom facilities (complete with great and strong shower) and although I was on my own and thus had plenty of room I also think it would have been acceptable for two people as well. A pleasant surprise was the in-room safe which was free and gave me somewhere to store my valuables. There was some noise from what I presume were generators outside but this wasn't a problem at all. You could hear some noise from adjacent bars but again this didn't cause me any particular problems.

Breakfasts are simple, but great for a good fill-up before a busy day. There's a choice of cereals, waffles and hot breakfast food (sausage, eggs, potatoes and grits) with endless supplies of hot and cold drinks.

Finally the staff were very friendly and courteous and willing to help in any way they could.

All in all I thought this was a great hotel. For extra money (a LOT in some cases) you could get closer to the attractions but there are also plenty of hotels in the area that are no more convenient for the big attractions but will charge you a lot more. If I ever return to Atlanta, I would have no hesitation in going back to the Best Western Plus.

We stayed,at Best Western Plus downtown from 17th to the 29th October 2012, everyone at the hotel was so helpful from the front desk(except for one guy) up to the general manager, his Pa, breakfast ladies Yvonne being exceptional. We were so worried that we booked into a hotel for 12 days that we didn't know as it was our first time in Atlanta, but these guys'll service is 1st class, and we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back, the rooms were cleaned, breakfast good, free Internet, staff would get out of their work to help you, coming from Australia you hardly get such great service, even in a five star hotel, you guys rock, we bumped into the general manager the day we arrived and he took his time to welcome us, and pointed out some good eating places, gave directions to the park for my little girl, that's was amazing, the location of the hotel in amazing, walking distance to everything, that was an experience I will never forget, good job guys keep up the good work, will see you again soon

Well this is a first....ME being mentioned... in your "glowing" review.

I appreciate that...it made me feel pretty good (although I did get "razzed" by my staff).

That stated...
we are really happy that you found your stay....safe and enjoyable.

Thank you

I stayed at the Best Western Plus downtown October 26-27. I was attending an ESOL Conference at the Hyatt Regency. I live in Buford and I had been debating about whether I should stay downtown or commute. I was concerned about reserving a hotel room because I was going to be by myself and I was not familiar with downtown Atlanta or the hotels. I was also concerned I would accidently book a hotel in a bad area. Still hesitant, Thursday night before the conference I called the hotel and talked to Shannon. She assured me the hotel was in a safe area and close enough for me to walk to the Hyatt Regency. I was concerned about moving my car from parking spot to parking spot since i would be arriving in Atlanta before check-in time at the hotel. Shannon said I could park in the garage before the conference and I could leave it there after check-out time until the conference was over. Her answers were a huge relief, so I booked my room. From the moment of my arrival until my departure from the hotel, everyone from the front desk to the breakfast staff went out of their way to make everyone's stay enjoyable.
Above and beyond- When I came in after dinner Friday night I was having problems parking in the garage. There were two spots, but I was not confident parking in them. Shannon said she was getting reading to leave in an hour and she gave me her parking spaceso I wouldn't have to park elsewhere. Other perks include: Free wi-fi-Wi-fi access at the Hyatt Regency was $100.00-not kidding. Also, the free breakfast at the Best Western was a deluxe breakfast, not a continental breakfast. I will definately stay here again.

Glad that you saw for yourself...that our hotel is in a safe "place"...in downtown Atlanta.

As for the nice comments about our staff....please know...that all of the hotels... surrounding us....
have good employees too.... and theirs and ours... are all interested... in pleasing guests.

That stated...yes...I am happy that you commented that "ours"..."went out of their way"...
to make your stay enjoyable...especially Shannon. We will recognize her "good deed"...at our next staff meeting.

EVERYONE at the Hotel was gracious, helpful, accomodating and the rooms were beautiful.
Each time we needed directions they went out of their way to print maps, give us umbrellas when we had a threat of rain for the Atlanta Braves game. We walked to the aquarium, CNN, downtown, and the Atlanta Falcons game. Very convenient. The downtown felt safe and had ambassadors throughout the town to help with attractions and directions. Thrilled with Hotel re the value, people, and Atlanta! Great breakfast, great staff. They really went out of their way to help with whatever your needs were. We would stay here again on our visit to Atlanta. We are even considering Atlanta for future employment. Atlanta people were great!

Room Tip: I would think the interior rooms would be best because that is where we were located. But anywhere...

WOW... what a really nice review and commentary.

You seem like a very happy person and it was nice to read this...it made my day.

AND YES...
while Atlanta...does have it's share of...misrable people...
it is nice to be "reminded"...
that a HUGE number of our citizens...in Atlanta...
are indeed good...hard working people.

Anyway...
hope you do...end up...moving and working in our "neck of the woods"...
and look forward to your next visit.

Glad our staff pleased you.

Thank you

We enjoyed our recent stay. I found the location to be very convenient for our needs - walking distance to Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola, and very close to MARTA. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but functional and I found the bed to be comfortable. I also appreciated the shower head - large and up high. The breakfast each morning was adequate.

Negatives - the parking garage was small and space was tight. Security was a concern - we could walk from the street up to our room without passing through any doors. I was glad our room was on the top floor.

Room Tip: Request the top floor, overlooking the courtyard.

Security is in the forefront of our guest services.

And while we... and the other hotels downtown surrounding ours...
have not had any reported incidents in the past year....
we understand the perceptions one has when visiting a major city.

Regretfully the reality is that safety concerns...
are not exclusive to downtown locations...
but is an issue for all communites in the USA.

As for us....well...
even though for us...the yearly expense is extremely high...
we made the decision...
to hire an outside security service...
one of the top three in the greater Atlanta area...
and...
have Security guards from 8pm to 4am...
to assist...in the unlikely event...should anything ever occur.

As for your other excellent comments...
thank you for those.
