My daughter and friends traveled from Syracuse NY for NCAA final four championship game . After 15 plus hours on a bus they were exhausted. Yvonne at reception changed their room assignment and had them check in early and offered them breakfast. She could have said that there was nothing available for early arrival. She took extra time to accommodate some very tired Syracuse University students. The hotel was fully booked and I'm sure she was very busy but she went out of her way to secure their room prior to their arrival . Very good customer service from Yvonne

Hard for me...this year...to "pick" a favorite team....
as....having.. worked / lived in Syracuse...Wichita...Ann Arbor...Louisville..
these...those...cities/ communities...evoke...
very fond memories and much respect.

That stated...since one of my sons....Max... lives in Louisville...
I am being...."forced"...by him...
since he came to Atlanta...this morning...

My daughter and I just had the pleasure of staying at this Best Western for 2 nights a couple of days ago. Our room was very clean, decor was tastefully done and the staff there were absolutely wonderful! We were surprised by the parking fee also, but we were treated so well there that the fee did not bother us much. Breakfast was the typical run of the mill breakfast..nothing special to it..would have liked to have seen some bacon there but was only sausage, and the shower curtain was a little to short so that water ran onto the floor...easy enough to put a towel down. We plan to stay there again if we ever find ourselves in Atlanta again! This time we are going to try and get a room in the courtyard...it is beautiful there with all the flowers etc. Thank you to all the staff...you made our stay there special

Bacon...bacon strips...I prefer bacon too...but...what is available to us...is awful.

Sysco foods, US Foods and PFG Milton...
the major distributors in the USA....supply the same "bacon"
to... all... of the limited service hotel brands...
which to me tastes like...
and here.... I will censor myself **** ...so....
you can blame me for no bacon.

That's why we offer only sausage...at least it tastes like sausage.

Sorry...I know that makes me...imperialistic...
but know..
that once I can identify....bacon that tastes like bacon...
ON the buffet it will go!

Yes...I wish we made breakfast to order...like the Embassy Suites
then we would have real canadian bacon.

Anyway....thanks for letting me know about the short shower curtain...fixed it.

When I got to the hotel I found out that my room was not reserved. After that the front desk informed me that there was a parking fee of 15.00 a night. I was not aware of the charges, I was not happy with my stay.

Unhappy...is the word every guest uses...and frustrated... is the word we GM's use.

PARKING.

I do not know of any manager... who reads comments that their guests...
were not happy with paying for parking...
knows what to do...or say in response...and really what can we say.

The reality is that....in downtown Atlanta...
and...
to my knowledge...in every downtown of a major city...
you are going to be charged a fee.

In Atlanta that fee is between... $ 21 to $ 32 dollars per day.

We charge...$ 15...
and no...we are not "bragging"...about that low figure...
to make our colleagues hotels look "bad"...

We...and I "believe"...
most... if not all....hotels downtown...
do not own their own lots....the fees go to that owner..
and..
as for our "low" fee...it is only because...
we....were "lucky"...and remain blessed...for now.

That stated...sorry that your reservation was not delivered to us...
by the website you booked on...glad / lucky...we had the room.

Sorry too that these events...parking and reservations ruined your stay...
thank you...for the....three rating...
that under the circumstances...
was better...than we would have expected...
and shows class.

If you book online, you can save a few dollars if you are staying a few days. The hotel staff was friendly and extremely helpful with directions and locating local attractions. This was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in, and it stayed that way with their continued cleanliness daily. Breakfast was delicious too. This was a great family hotel. Very close to Olympic Park, Coke, GA Aquarium, Sundial, Marta station and the Children's museum – we walked to them all. If you want a hotel staff that makes you feel at home with a warm welcome and great customer service at a great price, this is your place. Highly recommend it!

As you would expect...I am proud of everyone... who works with me at this hotel
and as...is normal...
I think / believe.... I have the "best employees" in all of Atlanta.

That stated...
and without minimizing my pride for...or the value of my team members...

Intellectually....and in fairness....
the truth is....that there are a number of General Managers...
as it relates to the downtown area....
that feel...
the same exact way... about their teams...being the best.

I read all the reviews.... that my colleagues downtown... get on Trip Advisor...
and...
I am always pleased...to read....similar glowing comments...from their guests...
about their employees.

Why am I mentioning...."THEM"....my competitors....

Well...
honestly....they and us too...all are concerned about and want...
to please our guests...

And...
while we all have..."things that go wrong" at times...
and many of us...
"suffer" from the same complaints...
many of which we have....no way to "fix"...
for example...downtown parking fees...room size...bathroom size...etc...

The one thing we can do....for our guests...
is create / maintain a working environment...
where our employees are well taken care of and respected...
which...
of course...makes for a happy hotel... and happy guests.

SO...
your comment...about our staff....and the...family "feel"...
is appreciated....more than you know... and we will share your review with them.

Bottom line...with all of the other fantastic hotels in our area...
thanks for the recommendation...

Before I book at a hotel, I like to read all the 'terrible' and 'poor' reviews. First I weed out the emotional rants. Then I look for common complaints.

So let me address that first. Parking is indeed tight. This is an older property in a downtown area, so this is to be expected. Consider another property if you drive a Ford Expedition or a Coupe-De-Ville. We paid $15 to park. Not uncommon for a downtown hotel in a major city. The rooms are small-ish. Not as small as many of the European rooms in which we have stayed. We had our two grandsons with us in a double queen and were still alive the next morning. The bathroom is small and the sink is outside of the bathroom. Some people may find that strange. Inside is a shower with one of those short tubs. Plenty of room for one person to do everthing that needs to be done. The outside of the building is not so attractive. Especially in the back and on the side. OK with me, the room is on the inside. Street noise - yep. It's a city. We were on the street side and I am a very light sleeper. The noise was dying down around 10pm and was pretty much gone when we went lights out at 11. (PS - I always carry ear plugs when I travel just for these situations). I did not notice anything dirty or worn out.

OK. This is a great value, especially for families. Hot breakfast is included, and it was pretty good. Several TV stations, including three Showtimes. Ipod/Iphone docking staition built into the clock radio. No issues with hot water. Wifi had a strong signal in the room, was fast, and included in the price. Recent renovations were obvious. It is only about a 5 minute walk to the aquarium and Coca-Cola world. Not a very scenic walk, but that extra 50 dollars in my pocket made up for that. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, especially the 'breakfast lady' (sorry I didn't get her name). There is a good pub/restaurant across the street with a micro-brewery (Max Lager).

So. Do I recommend it? Yes, especially for families.

Wow...I had to convince my wife Virginia...that I did not write this review.... "it's perfect" !

I was impressed with your opening statement..
that you read...
all the "terrible" and "poor" reviews...
so you could.... "weed out the emotional rants"....and look for...
common complaints....before you book.

How refreshing that is... for a General Manager to read.

The other night me and " V " ....were watching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon...
and the guest was....
Judd Apatow...the director/producer/screenwriter...
and...he said...
he read all of the comments he got on twitter as it relates to his movies.

And then if there was a "disparaging" comment...
he would go...
and "research" review the posters other comments...
to determine...
IF the commentator.... could be trusted.

I read all of your reviews.... YOU... can be trusted.

AND......thank you... for the HELPFUL tip...about "ear plugs"...

Joelle my Assistant...is purchasing ear plugs...
for those 34 rooms.... that face the city street side...
and will have our housekeepers put fresh ones in as needed..
to make the sleep experience....
better for the light sleepers

We stayed at this hotel when went to an event at the Philips Arena. We walked to the event at night. The building was tricky for us to find, the sign is only in the front and to would have helped if a sign was on the side. We stopped at the traffic light twice and did not know we at the destination.( with one way streets, you have to be careful if you do not know the area. The parking is in the hotel basement and we did have to pay to park there. The hotel was uner constrution during our stay and it was cold and sometimes windy so we walked quickly to the elevator, therefore we did not pay much attention to the outside. I am sure that the outside common area would be nice in the spring and summer.

I...LOVED this review...excellent helpful comments...and the heading was really "classy".

Okay...so why the accolades.....

1...Finding our hotel... is tricky....most downtown hotels too....
one way streets drive me nuts.

2...Your suggestion we add our hotel name on the back of the building...
don't know why we hadn't....didn't....will discuss with owners.

3...You walked...walked around downtown...
your walked....all the way over to Phillips Arena...
a walk...that takes you right through Centeniall park...how great is that ...
and..,you went to see...Bon Jovi in conert....even better

4....I read all of your reviews....well balanced....fair...you...are a good reviewer.


As for your comment on the...what appeared to be "under construction"..
well
no construction...as we opened as new....only 22 months ago...
but...
was a..."retro-fit"....with our installing.....the newest freguency controlled...
door locks... no more insert....just wave/tap the lock and you alone are in.

Security is really important to all of the hotels in Atlanta...
and so...along with the inside parking lot were your car was safe....
and....
our using the same outside Security service the... W hotel uses...
as do...most of the major hotels in Atlanta.

Yes...those last two comments...on security
were....a veiled "attempt"...at my highlighting....
we have... good/reasonable security...."sorry" for the self-serving plug.
