Yes we have a "very clean staff"... okay my wife Virginia is now telling me...not to be silly.

Sorry I knew what you were saying... "very clean"... and.. staff very friendly.
They are...indeed pretty good people... and really do...care.

Most every hotel in downtown Atlanta ....
has pretty good people working with them...who also care...
and....
whichever hotel...other travelers who come to Atlanta choose to stay...
they will find... the experience pretty good. And that is good for all of us.

So... thanks for choosing us.

Spent weekend here to attend Taste of Atlanta which was about a mile away. Hotel is easy walk from Civic Center MARTA stop and while it fronts a main road, it sits nestled on a fairly quiet street. Restaurants and other nightlife are walkable in 30-40 minutes or a 10 minute cab ride. The room access is outdoors rather than inside hallway. There is reasonable cost parking ($17 day) in a gated, underground lot. Check-in was easy and quick with polite desk personnel. Just off the lobby is the breakfast area which has plenty of seating, a good food selection especially for complimentary fare, but the serving area is a bit cramped.

The rooms (we were on 3rd floor courtyard) are SMALL but clean. They appear to have some recent updates such as bath vanity area, TVs, individual quiet heating/air system, and beds but the carpets appear worn and dated and the desk area could use a facelift. The bathroom is very small and has room for one person with a toilet and stand-up shower. There is a small closet WITH a safe. Our room also had a refrigerator.

This is not a 5 star hotel but it is clean, comfortable, safe, with well trained staff, and an excellent value in a good location. I would stay here again and recommend it as a practical place to stay in Atlanta.

Room Tip: Higher floors away from Peachtree street.

Alright... so it appears that you are a person who knows and enjoys fine dining... great.

I read all of the reviews of our reviewers and in particular found your review...
on Earls in Alberta... to be rather well written.

SO...the relevance here is...that... you can be trusted in your reviews.
I am pleased that you came to Atlanta for the weekend... for the "Taste of Atlanta".
That specific food and beverage weekend is one of my favorites too.

Glad that you found our hotel good and that you had a nice time.

As for the small rooms.... yes... we have small rooms...
of the 16 major hotels here in downtown Atlanta.....11 of us have smaller rooms...
having been built quite some time ago...and all of these fine hotels... are great too.

Continued happy travels as you add to your 59,180 miles travelled so far !

Thanks

this is a very nice hotel with a great staff. it is right downtown within walking distance of pretty much anywhere you would want to go downtown. the aquarium, and olympic park are just a few blocks away. the underground and capital are within 7 blocks and there is plenty of fantastic places to dine all around. the cost of the hotel was very reasonable. there is secure on sight parking and easy excess to the highway (75/85).

My wife Virginia... lived in Billings, Montana... and is her favorite place in US ...want's to go back.
She lived there for three years with her horses...I am curious... as to why you were there?

Anyway... I see in your other reviews,,, that you have chosen to use Best Western...
to stay at when you travel... and with one exception...Biloxi... you have been pleased.

Thank you for having stayed with us and that "things" were good.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in October 2013. It was in a pretty good area. Easy walking to the CNN, Coca-Cola Museum, and the Aquarium. Also within walking distance to quite a few restaurants. There was a park across the street that had some homeless people in it during the day. But, overall, I felt safe staying here. The hotel seemed to be newly remodelled. The walls were thin, so you could hear what was going on in your neighbors' rooms. Luckily, it wasn't full when we were there and just heard an alarm clock going off for quite some time. The bathroom was extremely small, but clean. Overall, it was a good value for the area.

Homeless... the homeless people in the downtown area of Atlanta.

I read about the homeless.... in reviews posted on trip advisor
for and on all of the hotels.... here in the downtown area.

We all share that reality...and while I understand that homelessness..
exists in all cities in America... the numbers for Atlanta show slight improvements.

According to the May 2013 study prepared for
the Metro Atlanta Tri-Jurisdictional Collaborative...
which include the City of Atlanta, Fulton County and DeKalb County...

The report states that there are 6,664 homeless in this massive geographic area...
and...
of these... 6,664 ...
458 individuals.... otherwise good human beings...with life circumstances...
are in the downtown area of the City of Atlanta.

YES... I know... the perception that I have and others have...
was that the numbers... were significantly higher...
but...458... is the "official number.

Obviously... any number of people homeless is not good...
so 458 is ... still too many...
but efforts are being taking... to assist as best possible.

WHAT is the relevance of my..."commentary"...

well... while... it is true that all it takes is one horrible incident...
to make an otherwise great visit to Atlanta horrible...

to date... this date of 10/27/13....
I am not aware of any such incidents at or around our hotel and the other...
four and five star properties in our sector.

Atlanta...and in the downtown Atlanta area...
is... thankfully experiencing... the lowest crime and or incident numbers...
in decades...I believe... according to one report...
Atlanta.. in terms of safety... is at the lowest levels...
since Lyndon Baines Johnson was President.. 50 years ago...

Bottom line... thank you for staying with us....glad that you had a good stay...
and.... thank you for making the comment...
that you ... "I felt safe staying there"...

PS... sorry that the clock alarm... next door was so piercing it penetrated...

We booked 12 rooms for our NACS show in Atlanta at the Best Western. It was very clean and friendly service. It was easy to go to the Convention Center. The breakfast was free and good. Parking was easy and the guy at front desk compt the parking. Very nice guy.

I traveled by myself recently to attend a conference in Atlanta, and stayed at this hotel for four nights. It is an easy walk to the MARTA station, GWCC, Centennial Olympic Park, CNN, restaurants, drug store, etc. The room and storage areas were adequate for one person, but I think it would have been tight if a companion had been with me. For instance, there were two shallow drawers and two deep drawers in the dresser, and room for the one luggage stand beside the dresser. Perhaps there are rooms with more drawers and more floor space for two people to share.

What I liked about the room: pretty, spacious vanity area, separate from tub and toilet; thick towels; plenty of outlets for charging electronics; choice of pillows; very comfortable bed; real hangers in the closet; in-room safe (which I didn't use); easy-to-operate HVAC and alarm clock/MP3 deck (warning: the clock emits a bright light, so my sleep mask came in handy); Bath & Body Works bath products; fridge; room darkening shades; rainfall shower head; many hot and cold breakfast choices, along with fresh fruit. Though I wasn't in Atlanta for the purpose of watching TV, there were many stations available, with perfect reception.

There is a card in the room, telling guests the manager is available 24/7, and listing his phone number. There were also cards with instructions if you were willing to use your bed linens and towels more than once. I was very happy to see that these instructions were obeyed as many times I have hung up my towels and housekeeping replaced them anyway.

Things that can be improved upon, but didn't affect my stay: one of the flexible reading lights by the bed in my room was missing; there was no towel rack in the vanity area (a personal pet peeve); the tub was stained and chipped (but clean), and there was no place to put soap while showering (I carried the soap dish between the vanity and the tub); the inside of the door frame looked as if the door had been broken down at some point and was not repaired. Guests rolling luggage across the brick (stamped concrete?) walkway outside the courtyard-facing rooms created some noise.

Check-in and -out was fast and efficient. All staff members were cheerful, friendly and helpful. I used the business center to print my boarding pass. I did not use the fitness center; however I did go in to look around and the equipment looked well-maintained. I did not use Wi-Fi because all I had was my cell phone, and there was no problem with reception.

What an interesting person you are... I read all of a reviewers...reviews... found yours fascinating.

If I were a "profiler"... I would describe you as focused...
well balanced on the positives and negatives... fair in your commentary...
and... with the photos you take... most definitely a type A.

Which is good because... I too am a type A.

AND... what else do we have in common...
COOKIES.

It is because of your comments on cookies and milk...
at the Best Western Plus - Normandy Inn, Minneapolis...
and...
at the chocolate chip cookie Golden Hotel an Ascend Hotel in Golden, Colorado...

We are now... in discussion...
about serving... cookies and milk at our hotel too...
and most likely have them available in our lobby at ... 10pm...
what a great way to end the day.

Our son was having surgery at Emory midtown, we wanted a place close by...man the prices in Midtown motels/hotels were out of this world. We stayed here for a reasonable rate of about 150 a night with 15 dollars parking. (Which is high for this small town country girl) We walked to supper both nights that we were here, and felt very safe! There were several restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast here is packed with items, not just donuts and coffee. If we have to go back, we will definitely stay here. Thanks to all the helpful and friendly staff!!
And about the rooms, they were very clean, bed comfy....nice outdoor sitting area.

Room Tip: Parking is a mad house, so be sure and use their parking! And get a room on the courtyard side.

My wife Virginia and I read your...other reviews... and a comment you made got our attention.

"This is the kind of place we should support, they are a dying type...family run...
no big corporation" .
YOU wrote that... about the Rancho Inn in Apalachicola, Florida.

My wife and I share the same views...about family...and dying breeds...
traditional "things" that made America great.

SO...
FIRST...be aware that the $ 150 dollars you paid...is higher...
than our regular rates which range from... $ 89 to $ 119.00.

The reason it was higher is that...
during all City Wide conventions or events... rates JUMP up based on demand.

Second...to recognize and appreciate your values...
when...
when you son is doing better...
we would like to have you stay with us as our guest for an overnight stay.

YES... since you are only 2 hours 30 minutes north of us...
you can... check in really early one day...and spend the entire day and night...
enjoying Atlanta.
