I was cautious of staying in the city, I usually stay outside of city downtown to avoid traffic. But access in and out was great and hotel was very clean, courteous and professional. I would recommend this hotel to all that visit Altlanta. Only drawback is walking from parking garage to hotel...if it is raining you'll get wet....

Downtown....most downtowns can be very intimidating....for many reasons.

My wife Virginia and I usually stay..."outside" the BIG cities too.
Primarily... we because we are "baby boomers"... and always "afraid".
well perhaps....being honest...
it is ME alone... who is usually afraid... Virginia... lives life happily.

Anyway...

As you know...it's usually the perception... that is the big problem.

And yes...while there are cities...we would both never stay in...
Atlanta.....
except for the crappy downtown interstate traffic during rush hours...
is surprisingly a good/easy city to drive into. Great exits.

Most every one of the... 19 TRUELY... downtown hotels...
(as opposed to midtown and Buckhead)

are all EASY to get to...
and once you are there...
and YES... pay a parking fee in the range of $ 15 to 32 dollars per day...
and YES... we ALL have to charge... none of us own our own lots...

THEN...then you really don't need to take your car out.
You can walk around the downtown area... to all of the attractions...
and restaurants...and...meeting venues if on business...
and all of us have pretty much direct access to Olympic Centennial Park.

AND YES...Downtown Atlanta...has been reported to be...
among the safest cities in the US...(since LBJ was President)
just go on line... and link onto ...Atlanta or Fulton County...
and you can find/see the Commission report.

Glad you...stayed with us...sorry you got wet...
using the parking lot next door as opposed to being below our hotel.

Hope you come back to us...when next in Atlanta...and if not...
then I know...you will love the other downtown hotels too.

They are all great.

PS...
the hotels in Midtown and Buckhead...
except for five...are great too....

They are only 15 to 10 minutes from downtown...
and EASY to get downtown... using the "really great...MARTA system.

Ronnell was very helpful with info around the city and the other brown man can't remember his name! The breakfast was out of this world very good! I recommend anyone to stay there! Plus u could walk to anything in the city from there and good price to stay there! They made u feel at home very friendly

Room Tip: The building was older but it was contemporary so it made up for it!

Delighted to read your comments... DELIGHTED... what a great word.

I have been wanting to use that word...ever since I saw it in a response...
from...a Manager... at another hotel to one of their guests

Sounds "kinda" British...and since...I was born in the UK...
I think it would be good.... to use it today...

Delighted you had a good time in Atlanta !

My wife and I needed a place to stay in walking distance to the aquarium, world of coke, and downtown. And this hotel fit the bill. Good price considering other choices, parking on the premises, and we could walk to most places. However, the rooms are on the smaller side (European style), no bath, and all the rooms open to the outside which some folks may not care for; we didn't care so it was fine. The bed was very comfortable, clean room, and quiet heating unit which was all we needed. The buffet breakfast was part of the deal and was kind of what you'd expect but with hot scrambled eggs, sausage, grits, and potatoes. A notch up from some "free" breakfasts.

At first I did not know how... to respond to your comments.

On our internal brand electronic survey you shared...
as IT RELATED to ...the question...intent to recommend..

"If they want a European hotel experience at a good price...
then I'd recommend it"

"If they want more of an American city hotel experience....
then I wouldn't".

It is true/correct that our guest rooms and bathrooms are small.

It is something we live with...with our building being built in 1958.
I presume...
developers in the time period of the early 20's...through the early 1980's....
wanted to max out on rentable units.

It is something we share with 11 of the 19 big brand downtown hotels.
And...none of the General Managers are happy.

But....we ALL have among the best/cleanest... small rooms out there..
and ..even better...we have really good employees.

I am happy / relieved that you did favor us with... "perfectly fine hotel'...
and so thank you.

NOW...
As you may know ... I review...ALL of the reviews of our reviewers...
and...
ON THAT POINT...
I really loved your review of the...Archer Mountain Inn in Banner Elk, NC.
"Cozy Mountain Getaway"...with our room having vaulted ceilings...
and...not only a fireplace but the in their restaurant...
an Incredible breakfast...and the best French toast ever.

My wife Virginia and I ... travel a lot...and we stay....at places "like" this..
so...we will plan a trip there...just because of you.

Anyway...safe / happy and LARGE room travels to you and your wife!

I think the parking should have been better. I would have loved a shuttle from garage to the front of hotel for the price, had a lot of lugage and did not know ahead of time where the parking would be, but other than that everything was great.

Parking IS a problem for all hotels in downtown and a nightmare for some.

The average parking fee...that HAS to be charged by hotels downtown...
because we do not own our own lots...
ranges from what we charger $ 15 dollars...
to $ 32 dollars per day...for Valet parking at the major hotels.

We do have... 32 spots...below our hotel...which makes it great..
and an additional 40 spots on the block next "door" to us.
and yes... if you "have to park" there it is a pain.

I wish we had...SHOULD have...advise you to unload...
at our main entrance... and yes... we would have helped load...
before...you drove to the lot next door.

Sorry we did not assist.

Best Western of Peachtree Street is the southern comfort hotel of Downtown Atlanta. This is the hidden treasure of downtown. The breakfast is great. I really enjoyed the staff and the warm welcomes! The price is affordable.

You will find that most every downtown hotel embraces Southern Comfort.

There are some hotels downtown who are working on...
their facilities and accommodations...and soon will have them up to par...
but..
what we all share... with them...
even those ranked lower on the Trip Advisor rankings...
IS that...
they ALL have really great employees...some of them spectacular.

The GM's are good operators...and while they struggle with things..
such...

parking...small rooms and in some cases...teeny tiny bathrooms...
they are spot on focused... on surrounding themselves...
with good people...who care about our guests.

and so... on behalf of my colleagues...
thank you for the very nice words... Southern Comfort.

My girlfriend and I enjoy an occasional weekend getaway. We both live North of Atlanta, so we're not that far from the Downtown Atlanta area. However, we rarely venture inside the Perimeter, so we sometimes just like to stay Downtown to get out and see the city. We elected to stay at this hotel because, having stayed there previously, we know the area very well. The hotel is very convenient to so many places. The weather was good the weekend we stayed there, so we were able to get out and walk about extensively. The new Skyview Ferris Wheel is within walking distance (if one does not object to walking a mile or so), and the Hard Rock Café is very close by, perhaps a half mile at the most. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is extremely accommodating. They offer a free breakfast buffet which is nice since you don't have to go anywhere and, if you choose not to eat in the dining room, you can prepare a plate and take it back to your room. The beds are superb, so we slept very well. There are in room mini fridges which is a nice convenience since we like to keep some bottled water and adult beverages on-hand, and they do have nice, flat screen televisions. There is a drug store (CVS) right down the street in the event that you need something, and the MARTA station is not far from the hotel either. If one has a car as we did, Mary Mac's Restaurant is not far from the hotel, and they have the BEST Southern food on the planet. You just really can't go wrong staying at this hotel, and I highly recommend it to anyone coming to Atlanta.

Redemption finally... thank you Patrice and Sandra for this review.

TO OUR trip advisor readers - Full disclosure.

Carnaryzx stayed with us in July of 2013 and gave us 3 stars.

She and I quote her shared... "overall I'd give this hotel a B-"
AND..."for the money, I think you can do better"

WHICH prompted me to invite her to come back as my guest for free.
WHICH she accepted and stayed on August 2nd and 3rd 2013.

She with integrity in mind...did NOT post a Trip Advisor review.
But she did complete a brand specific electronic guest survey.

IN THAT review she rated us high...as one would "expect"
but did not give us the top 10 rating levels...as you would "expect.

stating... that while we did good...even great in some areas...
there is...always something that can be improved...
and without something to "strive for"... there can be no real improvement.

I liked that...still do...

Anyway...while there ARE.. a lot of hotels downtown better than us...
it brings me joy...
that on her most recent visit/stay on February 7th 2014.
a stay she PAID for... she and her best friend Sandra...
gave us a 5 star review.

Redemption and a REPEAT guest...
and even better...friends of this hotel.

People do business with people they know and like.

Perfect.
