“Average room - great service”

I expect more from the Ritz brand. The rooms were small and pretty standard for a hotel - none of the upgrades that you would expect. There was no separate bath and shower (which I have had at every other Ritz property). The bed was hard. The worst part was the lack of soundproofing. The first night we spent, there were girls across the hall who decided to take pictures in the hallway and talk loudly. They would do this for about 10 minutes and stop and come back and do it again about 15-20 minutes later - very rude but the door with its 2 inch gap to the floor let every word into the room making it impossible to sleep through (this happened until about 4 in the morning). The second night was better. After we complained, they moved us to another room. There the people in the room next door only stayed up until 2 am. This was not as annoying as it was New Year's Eve. But the basic problem is the same - no soundproofing between the rooms.

Now for the positive. We were on the club level and the service in the lounge was excellent. The service at the front desk was great when we explained the problem with the first room they immediately moved us to a different room away from the annoying girls.

The best part of the hotel was the excellent service. Every employee I spoke with went out of their way to be helpful. The room itself was clean, well decorated and quiet. It was a little on the small side but I was not surprised based on this hotel being downtown. Most importantly, the bed was extremely comfortable. Room service was prompt but the food was just average. Internet access was very fast and reliable. The 24 hour fitness center was a little small but well maintained and had the basic cardio equipment and weights. The breakfast buffet was very good.

The only downside of my experience (and unfortunately my last impression of the hotel) was that the parking garage next to the hotel I was referred to for self parking, charged significantly more than their advertised rate. I was told that many guests have complained about this but ultimately everyone pays the extra cost so they can exit the garage. I realize the hotel may not be involved in this scam, but they should not refer guests to such a dishonest operation.

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton on New Year's Eve. We had been staying in Atlanta for 4 days at a different hotel and decided to splurge on the last night and booked a Club Room for the last night. We arrived early around 12 (which I did request when I made the reservations) we had a double room overlooking the peach drop and the Atlanta downtown skyline. The view was awesome, the room was nicely appointed nothing super luxurious as others have noted but a nice room. Check-in was easy, and we were supposedly upgraded, but no Champagne toast for us, kind of disappointed on that especially given the day... Once we checked in our room which was in the 22nd floor we headed up to the 24th floor for the Club Lounge. That was awesome!! Food was constantly flowing, drinks were everywhere and everything was great!! Well worth the price, the attendants for the most part were phenomenal especially a wonderful young lady that was very pregnant, she was especially sweet and attentive. Attending to each member of my family, I am sorry that I never asked her name. The only complaint and it is a small one, at times the Club was extremely full, and there was no room to sit down, but I am sure that was due to the date. Again the food and service was magnificent. Check out the next day was great and very speedy, I hope to return to the Ritz again sometime very soon!!

We were treated like royalty even before we got there! We are Marriott Platinum members, and they made extraordinary effort to accommodate us when we were unable to get the room we were hoping for - they went so far as to give us two connecting rooms in lieu of an executive suite, and only charged us for one of the rooms. Unbelievable!

At the hotel, everything and everybody was terrific, from the valet to the front desk to the housekeeping people to - well - everybody! The only hiccup was our meal at Lumen, the bar-lounge off the main lobby. The food was fine, but there was only one server available for a large number of patrons, so even though the waitress was quite gracious and pleasant, service was unusually slow. Eventually, the hostess came along to help expedite things, and offered to comp the glass of wine we had ordered.

The downtown location is within easy walking distance to a large number of attractions, most notably the phenomenal Georgia Aquarium, the best we've ever visited, as well as Centennial Park, CNN and Coca-Cola.

We cannot say enough about this hotel, and give it our highest recommendation!

Green Features: They give this a very high priority, and there are signs everywhere to that effect.

Had a great stay here for a conference and a little bit of sight seeing. Really nice hotel in the heart of it all. Staff were fantastic and the gym was great with everything you need to start your day well!

All the amenities and the service expected at the Ritz Carlton with a smaller price tag and a very central location. I was not really sure what to expect after reading other reviews but was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, helpful and always professional. Loved it and will definitely be back.

My husband and I decided to start a holiday tradition of staying at a nice hotel in the city on special occasions if we're in town. This Christmas eve we chose the Ritz Carlton downtown Atlanta. The Ritz was very nice and the service was exceptional. We received a Christmas card and gift from the hotel and with the Expedia.com package we booked we got a complementary breakfast for two and free valet parking. A great way to start our new Christmas tradition!
