Bar Allioli is a mainstay of the Barriada de la Estacion in Jimera de Libar, a real life saver. The range of pub food is good and reasonable, from tasty tapas to a hamburger and chips. The drinks are reasonable as well, simple and generous. The microbrews are stellar for those who enjoy artesanal IPA and similar "meals in a glass." This summer, there's been live music on Thursday evenings, primarily classic rock "covers" well performed by Marcus or Alberto, with no cover charge. There's also been barbecue with a salad buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings. This is a family setting; it's not unusual to see everyone from babies to grandparents out enjoying themselves, and even well-behaved dogs are welcome outside. The view of the mountains and the stars on a summer evening is glorious. They'll also do to-go (takeaway orders). There is WiFi ;a wealth of tourist information; books for sale; an English-language, informal, lending library; and as a pay phone out front. (Mobile phone coverage in this part of the village is iffy at best.) English, Spanish, and Danish are spoken, and the bar serves a clientele that includes Spanish and expat locals as well as visitors.. Both Paul and Synnove, the owners, are bicycle enthusiasts and can recommend good rides and walks in the area. The bar is very convenient to the train station platform and also to the bus that goes to Ronda or to Cortes de la Frontera. Closed Tuesdays. Accessible, but a tight fit inside. There's no A/C, but they do heat the place in winter. The only reasons I did not give it "excellent" are that it can be difficult to get service when it's a bit busy and it can get loud, even when the music isn't live. You may have to flag down the server or walk up to the bar to get a drink or your bill. The cost rating says not to include drinks, but that's typically the item on which you'll spend the most and not because the drinks are expensive. Relax. Have another beer, and take the train.

This is an excellent bar that serves very nice food - the hosts Paul and Sunnove were very hospitable and make sure that your visit is memorable. The food provided is a good selection of tapas, we visited on a Sunday and they provided all their guests with free paella. They serve good ale particularly Viking red from microbrewery. This village is a must to visit and in particularly allioli. Will definitely visit again.

If you ever visit the mountains of the Costa del Sol you have got to visit Bar Allioli in Estacion de Jimera de Libar | plaza de san roque, Jimera de Libar, Spain.
Particularly when Paul & Simmone do their Mini Woodstock & Beer fest. You will not only enjoy the very best music, particularly from "The Beer Bellies" but great food & man what a selection of beers. Dont miss Allioli!!

We spent a lovely afternoon relaxing at Bar Allioli. It is one of those places that you don't wont to tell people about as that might spoil it. But we enjoyed overselves so much, we will take a risk and spread the word to others who enjoy real ale, food and conversation.
The bar room itself is small and their is an outdoor seating area in front, some in the shade which we like but it is possible to move yourself into the sun if you prefer. You could sit and look at the view all day.
At first this looks like a typical Spainsh bar in a small village, you would expect San Miguel or another of the light lager beers to be on sale but no they sell real ale from a local microbrewery plus a wide selection of bottled beers. We visited on a Monday, the day after a very busy weekend so the food choice was limited but very good. An extra special effort was made to create a main dish for me as I was still very hungry and tapas was not enough.
We used the train, important for my husband who is the car driver and cannot usually have a drink. This was straight forward and easy even for limited Spainish speakers like ourselves. We enjoyed chatting and we felt like old friends by the time we left. Will definatly visit again on our next trip.
