Sierra Nevada is at least a place with sun! There are not too many places where the sun would shine from so high angle and the snow being still decent. Depends' of course - you can always have bad weather and conditions anywhere!

There are nice, variable slopes and probably really nice off-piste skiing even nearby the slopes, when the conditions are good. In the easter, there is obviously no powder. :-) Anyway, slope conditions were just fine for the days being +15C and sunny!!

If the weather is clear, you should be able to see the ocean from the topmost area. I didn't..

For lunch, consider eating in the village (e.g. Andalusi). A lot cheaper and better quality. There are lots of rich (looking rich, behaving like owning the world) people hanging around without ski equipement at the top of the cabin lift area. I find that a little bit funny. :-) And I definitely prefer not to pay the prices meant for them...

We went to Sierra Nevada for a short (4 day) family ski holiday in February. The weather conspired against the first two days - not their fault. All of the main ski lifts were closed due to high winds at the top of the mountain. The only lift open was The Parador; a 2-man chairlift connecting the centre of the village with the hotels at the top of the village; 12mins up, and a simple and unexciting 3min ski down around the base of the slopes/edge of town. It represents around 0.1% of the available pistes. We used the lift half a dozen times on each of the 2 days but inevitably got very bored. We now are embroiled in an unresolved argument with the lift pass company (Gov't owned?) who are refusing to pay back our lift pass costs for those 2 days! On the 3rd and 4th days we did get access to the mountain but found huge queues for the lifts (we put up with that) and appalling service in the (Gov't run??) coffee/lunch places; they all look like motorway service stations and had no idea whatsoever of customer service. Queue for 15mins to get to the 1 woman on the tills, then wait another 5mins whilst she goes off to make the coffees! My advice? Don't consider this place unless you are a glutton for punishment. It's truly awful. Made worse by the shrugged shoulder response to complaints. Dreadful.

Just returned from an abortive week's skiing in Cetursa Sierra Nevada Ski Area - ski pass roughly €40 per day depending on your age. Ski conditions (according to our instructor) have been worst he could recall. Only skied two mornings in 5 days as wind, snow, rain and poor visibility made it an ordeal rather than a pleasure. The resort was closed completely one day and then (rather cynically) opened a few lifts so they did not have to issue any refunds and apparently spare their max efforts for the busier weekends. I did have some nice extended lunches (Alcazaba Café upstairs at Borreguiles and Andalusi Pizzeria) in the restaurants. I have been skiing 20 years in Europe and never faced such poor conditions - but I guess you cannot blame the weather! I much preferred Baqueira-Beret.
