We couldn't think of a single flaw in this hotel. The owners are attentive, friendly and warm. Rooms are perfect, and the bar terrace overlooks a beautiful valley, the grandeur of which becomes progressively more impressive as the sun goes down (or perhaps, as the second wine glass gets filled). We had the €35 meal one of the two nights we stayed. It was completely worth the expense. A wonderful five course dinner. The pool is a refreshing end at the end of a hot Spanish summer day.

Owned and run by special people. We only stayed two nights but i wish that we had been able to stay longer. Every detail has seemingly been considered and it is apparent that it has been a labor of love.the rooms are lovely and uniquely furnished (i would recommend one with a terrace if available - although the common terrace is also an option), the saltwater pool is heavenly, both as a respite from the sun as well as in providing a magnificent vantage of the mountains. You can have drinks by the pool before getting ready for the outstanding 5 course meal that patricia will cook. Well worth the 35 euros. This place is worth a visit!

Room Tip: A private terrace is worth the upgrade if available

Stayed two nights and fell in love with the hotel. Perched above Monachil with stunning views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Wonderful food and a very warm welcome, Patricia produces dishes of the highest standard. 5 courses 35 euros (excluding wine) really good value.
You will not be disappointed.

Stayed one night before visiting Alhambra. Arrived about 3pm and spent time in the pool in the gardens surrounded by mountains - really pretty.
We ate at the hotel, we are vegetarians and the hotel came up with a bespoke meal for us, still five courses but at a reduced rate. Food was really good and as it was June we ate outside on the terrace and watched the sunset.
The room we had was a superior double with its own large balcony and comfy chairs. The bath was a huge Moroccan style walk in one and they had provided candles which was a nice touch.
Great place would go back in an instant

Room Tip: superior one upstairs number 7 really lovely

Everything about this hotel is special. Patricia and Manuel have created an oasis of fragrant gardens, irrigated by a series of old Moorish acequias and although the hotel itself is fairly small the grounds are extensive. We had a ground floor room with its own private terrace and sat there in the afternoon drinking wine and listening to birds singing whilst taking in the view across the gardens and swimming pool and beyond across a spectacular valley in the Sierra Nevada National Park.

The welcome was warm and informative and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. English was spoken by all the staff we met. Special mention to Chris the family dog who was a real sweetie.

Our room was comfortable and stylish and decorated with taste. A free mini bar and tea/coffee facilities were included. There is a cosy resident's lounge with music, games and WIFI leading to a terrace where meals are usually taken (depending on the weather). The restaurant is not open to the public - instead, for those guests who want to dine, Patricia expertly cooks a meal based on their own produce and what is best in the market that day. We enjoyed an excellent bottle of Rioja and their own olives followed by ham and artichoke then sea bass baked in salt with black linguini and a rich creme caramel for pudding.

Leisurely breakfast on the terrace consisted of a extensive buffet.

The final part of the road up to the hotel is single file with passing places but it is not a busy road and is about one mile at the most.

We loved it so much we have already booked a return trip.

You won't regret booking at La Almunia. It is serene and exquisite with gorgeous mountain views from your private patio/balcony, outdoor eating terrace, and grounds and pool areas. Our room was comfortable and clean. All of the staff were wonderful and interested in making your stay pleasant. Patricia and Manuel (the lovely owners) were especially helpful in giving directions, suggestions, and tips; answering questions; and helping with entertainment reservations. It is easy to get to the Alhambra and Granada but far enough out of the city to provide solitude when desired. We did struggle with allergies from the flowering olive trees and had to learn to navigate the single-lane road from town to the hotel, but those were manageable inconveniences. Christina the dog will make you feel like part of the family. The food is excellent. Overall, it is a wonderful experience.

Superb rooms - all unique - lots of special touches. Terrace balcony with fantastic views. Bed amazing. Tea and coffee in room - free mini bar with juice chocolate etc. Road up to hotel very narrow and steep. Staff lovely. Plenty of choice for breakfast - meats, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, cake, pastry, fresh fruit, Spanish omelette and other cooked items etc. We had the 35 euro menu one night - although expensive there were many courses and the food was special. Swimming pool in beautiful surroundings - unfortunately the weather was too cold to try. The hotel isn't cheap but we felt it was worth it.
