I went on trip advisors reviews and stayed at this hotel. It was a little difficult to find, a sat nav is a must. The road up to the hotel is a little difficult to navigate but don't leave that put you off. On arrival we were warmly greeted by our wonderful host Maria who immediately made us feel at home. Our room was at the end of the building and had a terrace. It was very comfortable and had great mountain views as all the rooms do. It is about a 20min drive to granada and a very nice place to return to after the end of the day and the hustle of the city. We also dined at the hotel which I can highly recommend. I would gladly return there for another trip and probably will

We stayed here as the third destination of a 5 stop road trip and the experience was memorable to say the least. The owners Manuel & Patricia have thought about every fine detail and have excelled themselves as top star B&B owners. The setting is picture-perfect, from the moment of checking in to leaving, the hosts are readily available around the clock and provide a 5 star service. We opted for one of the Superior rooms with large terrace and it was great - set next to the breakfast bar/terrace, with stunning views over the Sierra Nevada from our beds. The village is pretty desolate and isolated, so we opted to eat in the hotel on the second night. The food was restaurant quality (cooked by Patricia) and especially as a vegetarian knowing that Spanish cuisine doesn't always favour my culinary choices, I must say that I was extremely impressed. 5 course meal for 35euros. Breakfast too was a great selection, and Maria Jose rustled up a nice salad for lunch one day when we got a bit peckish. Overall a great experience - will definitely be returning - thank you Manuel, Patricia, Maria Jose and everyone else!

Stayed here at the end of our road trip around Andalusia and it was just what we needed.
Very welcoming staff, beautiful setting.Stayed in superior room number 7 with end balcony-sun all day and lovely views.Kids stayed in standard room that was also lovely but no balcony.Bathrooms fantastic-great showers with complimentary toiletries(big dispensers with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturiser and all smelled divine.
Gorgeous views from the terrace-where we went for wifi as none in room.
Breakfast had everything you would want but the five course evening meal was the best food of our trip!We ate in 2 nights out of 3 and would have on the 3rd night but they don't do food on Sunday. We felt it was good value at €35 for quality and quantity.House wine was also excellent and reasonably priced. We also ordered food from the pool snack menu and it was again delicious-pizza and goats cheese tart.
Only drawback is the narrow windy road up from Monachil that we wouldn't like to drive up in the dark so arrive early! Also air conditioning was OK but not as good as other places we stayed.
Would love to go back again for a few lazy days with wonderful food!Would also consider trying a Sierra Nevada ski trip and stay here.

Room Tip: If going in Summer room 7 on first floor with end balcony is fab. Some rooms with terrace are ground...

The room was really disappointing compared to the photographs on the hotels website. The food and location are great. The staff are lovely too. Its all a bit overpriced but overall we enjoyed our stay.

We spent 3 nights at La Almunia del Valle in August and loved our time there. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed and well equipped as well as being immaculate. Tea, coffee and drinks in the rooms a great touch. We used the hotel as a base for walking in the Sierra Nevada and it was a wonderful location with the addd benefit of the pool to relax in/beside after a hot morning walking. The hotel is remote - a healthy 15-20 min walk uphill from Monachil, however there really is no reason to go into town given the superb quality of the evening meal (indeed the options for eating in town were not worth the walk). The terrace was stunning and a most wonderful backdrop to enjoy a five course dinner - worthy of being compared to some of the leading restaurants around. The only drawback for those who like to stay in constant communication with the outside world is mobile reception is poor, however the hotel has WiFi in the main building which was incredibly fast and efficient. Rarely do I stay at the same hotel twice, but I would defiantly come back here for a couple of nights (and a dinner).

We fully agree with other commenters that this is paradise. We stayed 8 days in a superior room, and had dinner in the hotel 5 times.
positives/negatives:
- quiet hotel "in the middle of nowhere" with 11 rooms. When you are looking for a vibrant athmosphere with nearby bars/restaurants/disco/shops, this is nothing for you. When you want to relax in a rural area in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, with a magnificent view on the hills, you have found your spot.
- the superior rooms are large, have a private terrace with reclining deckchairs, perfect bed, bath/shower, minifridge with complimentary water and pineapple juice every day.
- small flatscreen tv
- climate control
- outside swimming pool with enough grassland, trees (shadow!) and reclining chairs for every guest. Drinks and snacks could be ordered
- wifi available in reception/restaurant/living room area, but not in the rooms
- perfect breakfast with large choice of cheese/cold cuts/fresh fruit/ home-made pastries/cakes/joghurt/ juices
- optional dinner (€35) at 9pm with fixed menu (toast with garlic, tomate and olive oil as appetizer, soup, starter, main course, dessert) with complimentary water and coffee, and a choice of 5-6 wines or other drinks which are charged seperately. We had a different menu every day, and on our last night the main course was something we had a week before; they gave us the option to choose something different, which was the best salmon dish we had ever tasted (honey/lemon/mustard/dill marination, cooked in the oven)
- distance from Monachil old town 1km, with altitude difference +/- 150 m, small winding road leading to the hotel.
- staff very friendly and helpul. Examples: week before arrival detailed directions to the hotel were e-mailed. Breakfast was served 30 minutes early on the day we wanted to visit Cordoba; the waitress adviced us about food (local specialties) we had to try there. Maps of Granada, with parking lot options, and walking tour guide with directions were given on request. New wine glasses were placed in our room when housekeeping observed we hadn't finished the bottle. We learned that they have a committed staff that works there for years. When we were in Monachil (walking) with a small backpack, Patricia (the owner) passed us and asked if she could drive us back to the hotel
- no safe in the room, but we didn't feel the need for one.

Stunning location and such a friendly place. The rooms were excellent and the views are stunning. The golden lab they have came to say hi each morning which was really nice. Its a home away from home and I would highly recommend.
