We chose this hotel for its relatively close location to Grenada and the Alhambra.First of all, it is quite difficult to find. When we eventually arrived, we had to go and find a member of staff from the hotel's bar to check us in. It seemed that he couldn't read as we had to look through their list of expected arrivals ourselves to find our booking. We chose a junior suite for the extra space and the room was well appointed with a great view over the city of Granada. When we went down for dinner, the staff were again in the locals bar, one of them showing us to the restaurant. As there were no other customers in the restaurant that night, we made our excuses and found a good restaurant (La Cantina de Diego) in Monachil where the proprietor could not have been more welcoming. Next morning we went down for breakfast but where was it? Again we had to find a member of staff from the locals bar who showed us into a room full of bare tables and no sign of any food. We were not offered any choices and "breakfast" arrived in the form of 2 halves of toasted bun, a plate of pre-packaged jams, a glass of orange juice and tea/coffee. There was no interaction with any staff, who seemed to spend more time talking to their regular local customers in the hotel bar. We seemed to be an inconvenience. On the second night, we again ate out, this time at Monte Velez, a great local Spanish restaurant in Huetor Vega. For our second breakfast, we had higher hopes - some tables had been laid up with paper mats. The waiter asked if we would like tea or coffee. The "breakfast" turned out to be exactly the same as the day before. We had already stayed in 2 other hotels on our trip in Andalucia where the breakfasts had offered a good buffet selection despite the fact that they were both cheaper and smaller hotels. On check out, we mentioned to the member of staff the poor standard of breakfast, they told us that they could not offer a breakfast buffet as their hotel was too small and that we should have asked for fruit or cheeses if we had wanted them - we did and the staff just grunted and came back with nothing more. Four stars for the bedrooms two star for the staff and service. We would not recommend this hotel.
