Capileira is nice place for discovering the Alpujarra and this hostel is a good accommodation option for this task. Comfortable and affordable, simple, easy to find and well located; You´ll find there a familiar and helpful treat. You can have dinner at the restaurant though do not try to ask for gorgeous dishes just keep on the homemade path (ham, potaje, soups…). Breakfast at the bar is quite simple but enough.

I've stayed here twice and love this rustic little hotel. It's right in the center of Capileira, next to the bus stop and couldn't be easier to find. The rooms are simple but comfortable and some of them have excellent views of the mountains and I think all of them have a balcony. There is a bar/restaurant attached that serves typical Spanish food which is quite tasty for a good price. Wifi is available in the common room and bar but not in the rooms. Also, the soft spoken and nearly identical twin brother owners are wonderful and so sweet! I would recommend this hotel to those who are looking for a comfortable and quiet place to stay while exploring the mountains.

I too stayed here on a ramblers holiday and found it a very comfortable pleasant experience. Its location is ideally suited to explore the mountain walking trails and wonderful scenery that surrounds Capileira. This hotel is rated 2 star but it really deserves a higher rating. Apart from some of the single rooms in the older part of the hotel, the rooms are a good size with quite spacious bathrooms. The bath was great to ease tired limbs after a full day's walk. In the hotel restaurant the food came without frills but was good rustic local fare. The portion sizes at dinner were generous which was very welcome after a day in the open mountain air. The swimming pool looked inviting but as it is not heated the cool October evenings meant I did not avail of it. This hotel is family run which gave it a nice authentic Spanish feel. I would certainly recommend this hotel to other walkers wishing to explore this spectacular area.

Room Tip: Try and avoid single rooms in the older part of the hotel as some are very small and dark

Stayed here for 7 nights during a walking holiday in Las Alpujarras with Ramblers Holidays.

Our room was in the part of the hotel recently refurbished and was perfectly fine for our needs especially the large wardrobe and drawer space. We were on a 2nd floor room with balcony and enjoyed superb views across the valley.

There is no air conditioning but even though daytime temperatures were high, the temperature dropped in the evening to allow a comfortable nights sleep. It can be a little noisy at night due to the proximity of local bars but the large French doors were sufficient to block out most noise.

Our room did not have tea/coffee making facilities or internet access but the latter is available in the bar area where the password can be obtained.

We dined for 4 nights in the hotel and the food was plentiful and appetising. Continental breakfast was a little sparse and samey but not something that was of great concern to us.

We enjoyed our stay in Capileira and found the Meson Poquiera a perfectly reasonable place to stay. If we return to the area I would be happy to return to this hotel.

I had reserved a room with balcony and views, which really was nice. However, there is no aircondition and the room gets really hot in the afternoon so don't expect to sleep much until you get accustomed to the heat. The biggest disappointment for me was that they did not provide internet connection in the room as promised in the hotel description.
The service was ok, and I think the staff had a lot of loyal local customers in their bar and restaurant, but even if I speak good spanish, I never got that "good feeling" with the staff. I spent time every evening on the sidewalk where you could relax and get a beer and internet connection.

Room Tip: The rooms with a view and balcony is to the south-west, so they are warm in the evening.

In confirming my reservation, Mari Carmen assured me that I had a "habitacion con vistas," as I had requested a room on an upper floor with a view. What I got instead was a tiny, tiny room at street level with a "view" of nothing. Room number 103, to be exact. This room is something you would expect to be reserved for an employee. The TV was on a platform mounted to the wall. It was so high up that it would be impossible to actually view the TV.

I was looking forward to lying by the pool for a bit of afternoon sun after my hikes, but unfortunately the pool was dirty and there were no chairs or chaises poolside.

On a positive note the overall appearance of the hotel is fine, and the staff of the family run property are all cordial enough.

Room Tip: Suppose it would all come down to the room you get. Room 103 is probably not the one you want.

We stayed at Apartamentos Rurales Poqueira, which are a set of apartments owned by this hotel. We booked off booking.com, where there we no reviews but we decided to take a chance on it. The apartments were great value, especially if you stay as a couple. Location is great, beautiful views from the balcony and good kitchen, bathroom and heating facilities. With the fireplace it was all very cozy.

The service unfortunately wasn't great, the owners seem much more focused on their hotel and restaurant. We felt we were bothering them when we enquired about anything. Hot water took a while to warm up and the apartments are in need of a bit of a makeover. Overall, a really cozy and good value apartment which could be an excellent apartment with a bit of attention to detail and improved service.
