“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2012

Just returned from an xmas and new year break in Los Laureles. We had a wonderful time. The food was absolutely brillant, Mark is a gifted chef, every meal was wonderful, the Christmas day and New Years Eve menus were stunning. It was really the best food we had in Andulusia and the best value.

Mark and Sandra are both lovely, friendly and informative and made us really welcome. The view from the apartment was beautiful, mountain views, tropical plants the lovely terrace with a pool, the studio rooms are clean and comfortable. There is plenty of free parking, a bonus in the area. Its a great location to use as a base to tour the region. We went to Granada (an hour away) to see the Alhambra on Xmas eve (magical). We also went up into the mountain villages and explored along the coast as far as Malaga.

We would highly recommend Los Laureles and would love to come back again. The weather was really good, it was sunny and warm every day (only getting cold in the evening and early morning so a great place to go for winter sun).

A big thank you to Mark and Sandra for a lovely relaxing holiday. We couldn't have wished for a better way to spend Xmas and New year.

Stayed here for a week with my girlfriend and it was absolutely brilliant. It's a small, charming B&B with three rooms, a restaurant downstairs and a pool terrace which overlooks almunecar and the mountains. It has plenty of parking if you have a hire car, although it's only a 10 minute walk into the town.

The owners are lovely and speak fluent English, and the breakfasts were very nice indeed. I highly recommend it and hope I will return some day.

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same by the looks of it. All have great views and are quiet.

This is my first review on Trip Advisor. I felt I had to tell everyone about this lovely restaurant. Such a pretty place with a beautiful view. There are also a few very comfortable apartments attached to the restaurant.
Sandra and Mark (the owners) were lovely. Chatty and friendly but also very professional. They made us feel very welcome.
The food here is gorgeous. Quite innovative, delicious and different. Definitely a Michelin Star type restaurant. Mark is a gifted chef.
The following is the New Year's Eve Menu. There were other choices but I'll just list mine.
Strawberry pearls in a glass of Cava. (Mark's creation)
Lobster consomme.
Foie gras mousse, roast quail, fried quail's eggs, bacon celeriac puree, tokaji reduction.
Passion fruit sorbet.
Roast venison loin, confit shoulder, dauphinoise potatoes, braised cabbage and shallot jus.
Chocolate tube, strawberry mousse, strawberry and cointreau ice cream.
Cava and the obligatory 12 grapes........which I managed to swallow bang on 12 midnight.
What a lovely evening!!!!
We were absolutely delighted with our stay at Los Laureles.
Faultless!!!!

We ate at Los Laureles Restaurant during a recent trip to our apartment in Almunecar. It is a top class restaurant set on a hillside with beautiful interior design, and a stunning terrace with views of the town and sea below. The food was awesome! Make no mistake - this is a Michelin class establishment. We loved it! We are so grateful that Sandra (a native Almunecarian) persuaded Mark (a Brit) to open their restaurant in Almunecar instead of England, and we personally intend to patronise it at every opportunity! Los Laureles is definitely one of the 'jewels in the crown' of Almunecar.

We ate there three times and the food was to die for. This saves the endless walking around trying to find a restaurant of true quality. Save your legs and visit here to sample fine dining at a sensible price, Fish or Meat the choice is good, great starters and a choc fondant that oozes class. Howard and Hil

I try to make a rule of only eating at restaurants and staying at hotels personally recommended to me. Los Laureles is one such and I wasn't disappointed. We were a party of six and took it as a good sign that a high percentage of tables were full mid-week. We hadn't booked but I think we'll have to on our next visit as I'm sure it'll go from strength to strength. The food was delightful, the menu inspired and the decor warm and welcoming. Front of house was slick and professional. I only come to Almunecar once a year for a holiday and am absolutely thrilled to have found this little gem and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I know I'm wishing my life away but I can't wait for 2010. I'm salivating already sitting back here in UK! A very big "thumbs up" to Mark and Sandra.

We really got lucky with Los Laureles. The accomodation is inceadible value, a beautiful old restored building, elegant rooms with views across Almunecar but only a short walk into town. Marc and Sandra who own the hostel / restaurant couldn't have been more helpful. I've only eaten in Michelin star resaurants a few times but the quality of food at the Los Laureles restaurant surpassed them all.
