I was here in Spain with some friends for 2 weeks in the past June, we came to "El Tranco del Mar" and took 2 rooms for our company. The rooms where, no other word for it, excellent, decorated in an antique and semi posh style altogether with a large american kitchen where we cooked most of our food making the trip a lot cheaper. There was also a bathroom with shower and a dormitory which could optionally be of two twin beds or a double bed (in this case we chose two rooms with twin beds) here we slept easily as the beds where simple but comfortable and, even by the apartments location (right in the centre of town near everywhere, we bought a car but it was not neccesary as everything was within walking distance to the apartments (it was just a 3m walk to the beach!!). We also disponed of a air conditioning system which worked perfectly isolating us from the heat in the sunny Spanish climate, this was greatly helpful, we also had a large 40" TV in each apartment where we had friend meetings severall nights during our stay where we watched the early stage matches of the European cup and bah a great time (congratulations Spain). There was also a WI FI device which worked fantastically well and was completely FREE, this permited us to share experiences and talk to the family whilst in Spain, very good!
Lastly, the service, we where attended in a small reception the apartments had which was also a shop selling quality products ( I myself bought a fantastic leather bag which my girlfriend loves and got a 10% discount) the attention was very familiar, we got recomendations for places to eat in Almuñecar (Los Pajaritos, Plaza Kelibia, Meson Gala) all of which we enjoyed.
In general, apart from the apartments, Almuñecar is a marvelous town to which I will return and recomend the visit to anyone who wants a good holiday, and FIESTA!!!

Having spent all my holidays in Almuñecar the last five years, I feel confident recommending El Tranco del Mar as the best in Almuńecar. This small family run hotel in the charming old town has apartments with a very high standard. The building and the apartments are totally renovated, with elevator, marble floors, air condition and free wireless Internet. Even so, the history of the building and the area is preserved through the use of typical Andalucian furniture. Each apartment has two French balconies and a small kitchen equipped with everything you need.
If you arrive by car, parking is available in a nearby public garage at about 25 euro per week.

Just in front of the hotel is the Mari Trini bakery, where you can buy fresh bread and pastry each morning. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops. Strolling through the narrow streets you can enjoy the wonderful mood of the old town. The beach is about 3 minutes walking.

Room Tip: If you want morning sun, ask for a room with view to the west (towards Los Pinos). If you prefer evening sun, ask for a room with views to the east (towards the Old Town). Higher floors have better view.
