We were very surprised, once we managed to drive up the mountain, how beautiful and tranquil the valley is, with the sea in the distance and probably the most bird-life we've seen in this tropical valley (including eagles!). This is a basic, no-nonsense place for people who want calm, tranquillity, beauty, and nature. It would probably be amazing for ambitious mountain bikers as well. It's not for the faint-hearted, as the road up is an exciting drive (but safe, and Rafael the owner is there to guide you up on the last stretch). This is no five-star hotel. It's about connecting to more simple things with good company, and a bottle of wine. Rafael's mum made us a fantastic rice lemon rice pudding and we were fed generous, fresh home-made meals three times a day. This is one of those places that definitely is more than is seems from the pictures, and stays with you long after you've left. If you're a little bit more adventurous, not seeking five-star pampering, but want to connect to old Spain and its treasure trove of good nature, this is a find. We'll be back - we're missing the rice pudding :).
