“My Favourite Restaurant in the World = El Mundo”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

Been coming for 18years with young kids family & friends.
Always loved it on on hot day right on the beach same very efficient staff.
Food always good like most of Spain Advocado salad,Fried Anchoives or Calimari and roasted
Green Peppers +perfectly chilled bottle of Esmeralda or thier Albarino makes a summer holiday.
You can book the sun beds. Like everything now more expensive than 2008 but que sera.
Like to think the owner recognises me each time but probably not !
Just love the casual Spanish atmosphere take all our visitors to finca in Competa here for a beach day. Someone insisted on the Paella late one lunch time which is not a good idea as takes time to prepare etc.Hope I can find some photos to load.Love it ! Used to do beer in big goblets which looked great after 15mins on beach.Sit just in the shade is a good idea. Think most of the Chingurritos in Herradura are good this just has always had it all for me.

“Supper with friends”

The Sangria was weak - could have been Ribena! The calamaris I ordered were very bland and chips were not included in the main meal and at £5 a portion ridiculously overpriced. A great shame as the location is perfect!

“Consistently excellent food. Fish is the very freshest”
Reviewed 22 June 2013

La Sardina is a chiringuito (beach restaurant) at the bottom of the access road into West La Herradurra. It has a main covered roof area (with straw/grass) and also tables on the beach itself with umbrellas.

2 of us went for lunch (advisable to book if on a Saturday or Sunday in high summer).

We both started with fish and shellfish soup (€6.50) – a good fish stock base with lots of fresh fish pieces, calamari, clams, mussel and prawns.

To follow we shared a plate of almejas marinera (clams €11.50) and boquerones fritos (fried fresh anchovies €8.50) with a mixed salad with avocado (€4.50). The clams were plump and delicious. The anchovies were extremely fresh with firm while flesh.

We have eaten at La Sardina many times over the years (as well as other restaurants) and consider La Sardina as probably the best chiringuito in the area. Very popular with predominantly Spanish families as well as tourists.

Service is very efficient and professional. The same waiters are still working there now as several years ago – always a good sign.

“A great choice in La Herradura”
Reviewed 15 June 2013

We picked this place pretty much at random and had an excellent lunch overlooking the beach. The waiters were disinterested at best but the food was wonderful. The calamari was tender and deftly fried, sole was simply grilled and ultra fresh, and the paella was well worth the 40 minute wait. It was full of nicely cooked seafood and had a great saffron flavour without being too heavy. If you need a leisurely lunch in La Herradura, you can eat very well here.
