“Gorgeous boutique hotel in picturesque fishing village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

We needed a stopover driving from Bilbao to Santiago and so glad we picked Cudillero. It's a picturesque fishing village with small houses hugging the steep hills. This hotel is cute and homely and really close to the harbour where you have to park. Steep steps to reception no problem for us but you need to know. Beautifully appointed rooms - we had a little balcony. The breakfast - 7 euros per person was great and really worth it. Freshly made pastries and bread and hot food cooked to order.

We stayed at La Casona on a one night stopover in this very quaint small historic isolated fishing village.
Hotel (which is ideally located) was perfect for our needs although we didn't have breakfast which I note other reviews say is very good.
Surrounded by steep hills all around and an equally steep and challenging walk above the village overlooking the walled harbour, and its numerous bars and restaurants made this a most enjoyable experience.
A group of locals sitting on the deck of a local bar and singing added to our enjoyment.
Parking in peak periods could be a challenge but in June was not a problem.
Was definitely worth the travel deviation to stay in this village

Situated in a beautiful quaint fishing village, this hotel is the best in town a few paces to the square.
The staff speak good English and are very helpful., it appears to be family run.
The breakfast for 7 Euros is amazing. Don't miss it.
Wifi is not very good. But everything else makes up for it.

Room Tip: There are a couple of balcony rooms which would be nice.

The hotel is good, a little tired but warm and welcoming. Our family room for 3 of us wasn't great for the third person but perfectly fine for 1 night. The owners were very welcoming but the thing that makes this place is the breakfast. Incredible selection of local foods with fresh fruits and homemade jams. Everything was explained too. Make sure you take the breakfast option. Location was also good, mins away from the main part of town.

Rosario was extremely charming and helpful and a great host at breakfast. The breakfast was great. Where else can you get crepes and quince jam along with the usual bacon, eggs, pastry, etc? This little hotel with 200 year-old stone walls is located 20 yards off the main cobblestoned street where you can stop your car to unload baggage before parking outside the village at the port parking lot. About two flights of steps to the entrance and another flight to our room was a chore since we had a month's worth of luggage, but the ambience of the room and the hotel really made up for it. (We Americans don't usually get the benefit of a bidet at home.) The view from the room's window was limited but the scene of clay tile rooftops, interesting courtyards, and unique housing perched up the hillside and laundry hanging from the windows was old-world charm at it's best. We had no reservations and just stumbled into this town and the hotel because we had been driving most of the day, but our stay was one of the highlights of our two week trip through Spain. Economical at 58 euros walk-in price.

Room Tip: Steps at entry could be a problem for some people.

I stayed 3 nights here and loved the place. The cost, at under €60, is very reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful, pointing out ot me places to visit and excellent restaurants. They also found a local woman to do some laundry for me.

The room is nicely set up with comfortable chairs to sit on. There's a working WiFi. There's a whirlpool bath but I didn't use it.

The breakfast, at €7, is excellent value.

You can't park anyway near the hotel, you have to park a few hundred yards away near the port.

We stayed one night in this charming small hotel. There being no parking in Cudillero centre (you'll see why) we parked by the harbour and walked the 5-10 minutes back in. If you're lucky and prepared you might be able to pull in in front of the church/ayuntamiento and dump your bags & co-pilot before heading off to the port. The hotel is tucked just off the main town square, well signposted, cosily furnished and the staff were friendly. Our room had a big balcony and good view of the activity down below. Plumbing slightly clunky in the night but we didn't hear a sound from the town, and due to the shady spot and thick stone walls the room was comfortably cool.
Had dinner at La Ancla just next door - great seafood and great value.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel with a balcony are great (can't remember the room number)
