We arrived at our apartment just outside Villiaviciosa (La Espadana - exceptional property with its own website or use Colours Of Spain) and went to Tazones 8km away in search of a supermarket. There isnt one, although there are two small stores that sell a few provisions. What we did find was a wonderful picturesque fishing village with a host of restaurants serving some exceptional seafood. Our favourite was La Sirena, on the left as you drive down, where we had lobster and fabadas. The lobster is quite expensive, but be warned, the fabadas is enough for four people! As expected, the people dont speak much English but they were very friendly and it was fun trying to get them to understand our limited Spanish. Carlos V was the best for chips (our 7 year old voted this!), whilst just opposite is a wonderful tapas bar serving a variety of hot and cold dishes. If you are in the area I would also recomend Rodiles beach, the restaurant at El Puntal for breakfast and wonderful coffee, the beach and seafood restaurants in Llastres, and an absolute must is the Sunday market in Cangas De Onis. Cangas is a fabulous little town and well worth spending a day or more there.
