A great variety of seafood, poultry, wild meats and domestic is available served with exotic side dishes including spicy polenta and cactus jam. There are great wines and unusual beers. The staff members are attentive. The view is good.

We had breakfast and lunch and dinner. For breakfast omelets made to order were great. Lunch/dinner choices are the same. We had paninis (too bready and not enough stuffing). The menu also included salads which we tried and was very good.
We tried also the Navaho taco did not like it.

The dining room was attractive and lovely views from the wide viewed windows. The menu is a bit odd, offering many dishes of various wild beasts. We stuck to the salmon and the trout: good, but not what one would expect for the high prices. I think this is a place where the Chef trys to create "something a little different". Salads were great, though and wait staff very nice and food was served in a timely fashion.

We arrived in Mesa Verde National Park late afternoon, but with plenty of time to purchase tickets for the next day's tours of cliff dwellings. For dinner, we checked out the Metate restaurant, but the prices were rather high. We chose to head over to the Far View Terrace Restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately, I think all of the hired help had already gone back to college. The options were good and prices were good, but you had to wait forever to get someone to make your food! I didn't care for many of the choices, they looked like they had been sitting around for a long time. I chose to get a custom made pizza-much like subway, they put what you want on the crust. After it was put in the oven, the person had to go to all of the other stations and serve the others waiting there. Long story short, it took a long time to get dinner. We decided instead of coming back for breakfast in the morning and possibly miss our tour which we now had tickets for, we would eat the food we brought with us in our room and to get some fruit and milk for the morning. We had to get the milk from the starbucks/ice cream store, which was part of the gift shop. Again, 1 person working-a family of five, all getting ice cream cones. I waited at least 30 minutes to purchase a cup of milk!! It was probably a beautiful sunset that night, but we missed most of it with the long waits! Luckily, we got back to our room and saw the tail end of the really great sunset from the terrace of our room. The food and prices were OK, but it's too bad that the other option at Metate is so expensive.

Cafeteria style with a southwest flavor. Since it is the only place for breakfast, they can charge exorbitant prices. It's quite a wait to have your omelet made. Stick with the oatmeal, as it is good and the best value at $4. We still had to wait twice however for them to bring a new batch out. Eat after 8:30 am if you want to avoid the tour bus crowds. The minimal staff was pleasant.
