“What a great find”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

We also spent a week at Hotel Eetu in late September and what a wonderfully relaxing week it was. Whilst the actual building may not be the most attractive, our room was large and stylish, with all the usual facilities (mini bar, room safe, hair dryer) and with a particularly spacious balcony looking towards the sea. We understand the bathrooms & the Reception area are to be upgraded this winter. There is a modern bar and dining area, but we particularly enjoyed being able to sit outside under the trees for breakfast (buffet style) and dinner, both offering a good choice at an excellent price. The staff were all exceptionally pleasant and efficient, whilst Ber (who speaks perfect English) was a mine of information about the area and gave us lots of tips. The huge garage is a big plus. There are numerous gorgeous little coves and beaches along this stretch of coast, we loved the town of Begur, recommend a visit to the Botanic Garden at Cap Roig and the medieval villages such as Pals and Peratallada. Fornells itself is charming and quiet (we can only speak for September) and we thought the Hotel Eetu was perfect - a peaceful haven to come back to at the end of a lovely sunny day spent on the beach or exploring and touring around. Plenty more to see and we definitely plan to return. We wish the owners much success.

We spent 7 nights at this hotel in late September. Our expections were mixed because of the reviews which we had read, but for both of us the Hotel Eetu exceeded all our expectations. The owners Bernard and Rune (and the two dogs) were gracious, welcoming and very attentive. Ber was always available to advise us on our walking itineraries and general information about the area, and we valued his suggestions. We availed of half-board, and were very impressed with the choice, variety and quality of the food and service, dining outside under the trees and the stars. Cristina, our waitress, was charming and attentive.
We swam from the platform at the little harbour 150m down the road, or bathed in the beautiful coves which dot the area.
The area around Begur is fascinating- the Camino da Ronda, the 220k coastal path was our primary interest, but the villages, coves, botanic garden, tapas, sun and blue sky ensured that we slept deeply at night. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to sleep with the balcony door open at night as the area was so quiet. We had a 4th floor sea-view room. Yes, the bathroom is old, but spotlessly clean and spacious and well appointed.
There was more to do than we managed to fit in, so we will definitely return again next year.
Thanks guys and dogs!

We had a week here in early August. Most of the the hotel has recently been refurbished by a Finnish (I think) interior designer; the bathrooms, with some very funky original 60's/70's pale blue tiles, will be done soon. We were lucky enough to get an end room (313), which was a suite, along with a closet area, sitting room, balcony, bathroom and bedroom - it was great. The views - and I suspect we did not have a prime sea view - were great. It's an extraordinarily beautiful spot. Our room was close to road out of Fornells, but traffic wasn't a problem. All the public areas of the hotel are kept very clean.

There is a lovely outside dining area under the shade of trees with views down the road to the sea. The food is great, with a plentiful breakfast buffet (queues for coffee machine though..). We were on a half board deal, which I generally don't like, but we could eat at lunch or dinner, and the three course daily menu was generally excellent - it gets posted every day in the lift so you can make an informed decision. A couple of nights they had some live music with singers - nice atmosphere. I suspect some diners found the music a tad cheesy, but we found it a lot of fun.

There is plenty of parking - an absolute godsend for these Costa Brava Villages. There isn't a pool, but there is a pretty beach about 500 meters away, and the Camins de Ronda pathway allows you to walk to Aigua Blava beach. Begur is close by. Cap Roig festival nearby in summer. Great area to visit.

The staff are generally very good, and the two Owners are very friendly. When we checked in, one of them took the time to show us the room and describe a little about the area rather than just handing us the key. Between the pair of them, they seemed fluent in just about every language their visitors had. They take a lot of justifiable pride in what they are doing. If you want a very fancy large chain hotel with lots of amenities and modern bathroom fittings, then this might not be for you - but if you want an unusual and original place in a beautiful location with great staff at a fair (for the area) price, then have at it.

Room Tip: We were in 313, at the end of the building. It was a suite and was wonderfully spacious. It was clos...

Pure peace, beauty, and friendship. This is what you will find at this amazingly lovely hotel. The situation is perfection. Simply the best. Walks along the shore, clear water and perfect little coves. Small Medieval villages to explore a few kilometers away. If you want a different holiday this is the one.

Room Tip: All rooms are specious and lovely. Higher ones have sea views.

The present owners took over about a year ago and the rooms a very nice and roomy. The bathrooms are not yet renovated but despite that very functional. The location close to the beaches, walking distances, is absolutely optimal and to offer indoor parking free of charge in an area where parking is very limited is exceptional.
The hotel has both a restaurant and a bar.
The breakfast was very extensive and should cater for all tastes.
You feel very welcome in this hotel.

Thanks for sharing your review on our Hotel. As you say Eetu is within walking distance to Fornells, Platja Fonda and the Aiguablava cove, and is also very convenient for trekking with beatiful paths to Sa Tuna, Tamariu, the village of Begur... Our garage is certainly an exceptional facility in the area. Hotel Eetu The splendour of Costa Brava

We have just spent a week in this quiet part of the Costa Brava. The hotel dates back to the 1960s and is undergoing professional renovation to bring it up to contemporary standards whilst retaining the best aspects of its original design (light and space). Large bedrooms with huge beds and the best mattresses/pillows we have ever experienced. The reception and cafe/restaurant reflect both Spanish flourish and Scandinavian chic. Meals are taken under the shade of the trees with a view of the beautiful garden. The owner/managers are charming and are fully committed to making this a great experience. Some fantastic restaurants in the area which offer high quality food and wine at good prices. Plenty of quiet coves for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing.

Room Tip: Chose a room facing the coast with Air Conditioning: the air conditioning is silent and effective wi...
