Easy to find. Fantastic views of the mountain. Large room. Bar prices good and food in restaurant very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the weather wasn't warm enough to use the pool. Short walk into Hervas itself

We stayed in the Hospederia for two nights and have a relaxing and enjoyable. The rooms are of a good size and the bed is good and comfortable. Breakfast is really nice, make sure you try the Spanish Potato Tortilla , they are delicious. We had dinner in the Hosperedia and it was very good, good local produce but the dining area lacks atmosphere.

We arrived in a downpour on Christmas Eve and the famous hospederia hospitality was in full flow! And the 26 bedroom hotel was all for us,.......the only guests!

We had booked media pension and the evening meal was a special 6 course dinner and the only diners, us! And we can happily report that the meal was excellent. The young lady Chef was justifiably proud of her efforts and came to the table to wish us both - her only guests - Feliz Navidad. The breakfast buffet was more than acceptable and we were offered a fully cooked to order breakfast if we so required, which we declined.

We will say that all the food we had, along with the service and hospitality was excellent, but we have to limit our praise to that only because it is obvious that this fine building is now in need of a total interior refurbishment and particularly the suite we occupied. However, the whole establishment that we observed, the public areas, reception, bar cafeteria, stairways and landings, and the restaurant all looked dated and well worn.

All will not be lost though as no doubt the Hospederias de Extremadura organization must be well aware of this and will, hopefully, be making plans to refurbish in the very near future, and because the excellent staff deserve a refurbished hospederia to show off their undoubted skills!

Once the refurbishment is completed we'll be back!

Beautiful old convent with lovely cloisters. Disappointed with the room as it was dark and dingy. There was a crack down one wall and laminate was peeling off the skirting boards. One tiny window, as befits an old convent - all the more reason to have decent lighting. Out of 6 lightbulbs in the room 4 did not work, leaving just a slight glow from the ceiling light and the floor light. Impossible to read, we resorted to a torch to find things in our suitcases. Receptionist said it was not possible to change the lightbulbs either that evening or the next day. Our room was at the back of the building and had views over the car park, three large recycling bins and a pile of bin bags and other rubbish. Lots of money has been lavished on this place, a little wooden fence to hide this would have made quite a difference. Our bed was very big and comfortable, the sheets were not big enough to cover it so if one of us rolled over in the night, the other one was left with no bedclothes.. Towels were very thin. Very nice staff member told us some history and suggested we go in to church next door just before mass to look round. Well worth it. Beautiful retablo. To sum up this Hospederia - lovely building but charmless room.

Very nice buiding and original refurbishment. Staff is friendly but the breakfast service is really poor, and they dont seem to keep up with their broken lightbulbs and spiderwebs growing in the corners. It could be a great property if managed a bit better.

As with other reviewers we stayed here en route from the south of Portugal to catch the ferry at Santander. The location is perfect with plenty of secure parking and only a few miles off the main road. The town of Hervas is well worth a visit with its narrow winding streets and old Jewish quarter.
The building itself, an old monastery, is impressive but we thought it could have been more sympathetically renovated. Stunning on the outside, boring and rather dated on the inside. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable enough. The dinner was poor and I would definitely eat out in the town rather than eat in the hotel. ( We ate in an excellent restaurant in Hervas on the way south called El Almirez.) On the positive side, breakfast was good and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Travelling through Spain to catch a ferry in Santander friends recommended we stop of for an overnight in this Hospideria. They were so right. It has been tastefully restored, the staff were very helpful, particularly Manuel the waiter and barman. We booked dinner in the price and were we glad we did. It was superb, one of the best after many days of eating tapas. From the entree on it was simply great. The house red was beautiful and we then retired to our simple but very comfortable room which had WiFi good enough for watching British TV over a vpn. Thanks to all the staff but again to the multifunctional Manuel.
