“One of the most beautiful and unique areas of Europe.”
Reviewed 15 October 2014 for a stay in August 2014

So you are considering a rental house in Galicia Spain, one of the most beautiful and unique areas of Europe. My family stayed in Granero del Burro for two weeks and I would like to share why I would recommend this beautiful house in its absolutely stunning location. With the pristine countryside and its proximity to the ocean, and all the interesting towns and cities, we went straight into relaxation mode. The house maintains its historic look while still providing all the modern conveniences. When I rented the house I asked the owner Stephen Fenwick if he could point me towards any festivals so that I could hear Galician bagpipes. He told me that if I didn’t locate any he would bring his bagpipe friend around to the house. Before I went I was telling people how brilliant the holiday was going to be. During our stay Stephen kept us informed of local festivals and we got to experience the Galician culture and music. When we got lost we phoned him and he drove to us… and we followed him back to the house.
Bottom line…I highly recommend this location. I felt safe straight away. I appreciated Steven looking after us and making sure we had a great time. Weather was wonderful (we were there in August), we stayed there with our two teen kids. One of our best holidays.

“What a great property”
Reviewed 8 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Stayed at Granero del Burro with my wife and we really enjoyed our time there. it was kitted out with everything we needed and is far better than the photos suggest. You would not believe the detail and quality Stephen and Kay have gone into. They were very welcoming and suggested many places for us to visit. The coastline and beaches are fantastic in this part of Spain. We will be back.

“A fantastic house and beautiful area!”
Reviewed 25 November 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed here for a fortnight in August with our 2 sons (14 and 9). The barn is beautiful. It is very stylish and certainly has the wow factor! The owner has really thought of everything to make a guest's stay comfortable. We all loved it! There is loads to do in the area - interesting towns, beautiful beaches, boat trips etc. I know the weather can be mixed, but during our stay it was hot and sunny every day. We had never visited this area of Spain before and were really impressed. The scenery's fantastic, it isn't crowded, friendly people, really good (and cheap) food and wine. What more could you want from a holiday? Would definitely like to return some day.

“Beautifully converted barn in rural location”
Reviewed 17 September 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We stayed for 2 weeks in Mid June.

They call this area 'Green Spain' for a reason, and we enjoyed some really mixed weather during our stay. But that's what makes the countryside what it is, and the spectacular scenery does come at a cost. If you want wall to wall sunshine, extreme heat and parched landscapes, there are other parts of Spain to visit. This area offers a more diverse range of attractions.

The barn is........just as described by the owner. Its a beautiful conversion, and its clear that much thought (and budget) had gone into its creation. Its well equipped with everything you can think of. Its in a lovely location, in a quiet, scenic valley, and the view through the full length windows from the mezzanine living area is spectacular. We've stayed in numerous rental properties and we can't think of anywhere we've stayed that beats the quality of Granero del Burro.

Everywhere involves a drive (apart from the local walks from the house), and there are plenty of good local places to visit, both on the coast and inland. And if you want to visit Spanish Cities, Lugo is an hour away, and A Coruna, Oviedo and Gijon about two. There's no shortage of things to do in the area.

If you want to visit a 'different' area of Spain (with few British tourists), and enjoy high quality accommodation in a rural setting, you will not be disappointed with Granero del Burro.
