Description: Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".

My husband and I have been eating at Firestone's for years. And it used to be so delicious and great service. That is really slipping lately. Our last visit in March made me think it is time for a break. Service was polite, but the server was stressed as were other servers on the floor. We could hear other tables complaining about slow service. The table next to us had ordered as were were being seated. They received their entrees as we were leaving nearly 90 minutes later. And they were not happy. Our service for bar and food was slow and the server had to apologize no less than four times. The food quality is also not as good as it used to be. Not sure if they are having staff issues or just getting too busy to handle the crowds. It is busier than it used to be. I think I will take a year off, and if they are still in business will pop in again.

Cozy pub style restaurant with both pub meals (awesome burgers) plus some more sophiticated offerings - the broiled scalops are superb. The chef almost always sends some complimentary and delicious samplers. Prices are reasonable - service is first rate.Try for seat by the second floor windows

I've been here for both lunch and dinner. I really want to rate this place better but just can't because its not. Its not bad, The food is quite reasonable, drinks are fine though the mixology could be improved. The issue is the place is pretentious in that it tries to be what it is not. It is not a fine dinning establishment. The prices at dinner time are considerably too much. This place is basically a tavern/bar and does well at that. I do recommend going there for lunch where the value is reasonable. In the evening its good for drinks and music and meeting friends. But for the price of their dinner there are many better choices in Frederick.

The upstairs seating at Firestone's offers some of Frederick finest food; Bar None. No pun intended. European and continental cuisine that would satisfy just about anyone's pallet. The wait staff is unmatched in the area and the overall experience is well worth the visit. Remember, it is a bar not a library, so noise is present....but some evenings and Sundays they provide a variety of live music to enjoy. This is definitely in the top 3 restaurants Frederick has to offer. I recommend Dutch's Dungeon and Monocacy Crossing to try as well.

I have eaten at Firestone's many times. Most recently, I was there for Valentine's Day. The food is always outstanding, whether fish, beef, or vegetables. The service is impeccable without being stuffy. The chef always sends an Amuse Bouche, so if the restaurant is busy, the wait doesn't seem long. The wine list is extensive, and the drinks are great. The tavern area (downstairs) has food and service as good as the restaurant upstairs. Great atmosphere. You can sometimes walk in and be seated, but not always, so plan ahead and make a reservation!
