“Nice historical house and Civil War reenactment”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

This is a really nice place to spend a day. They have a Civil War reenactment, which usually takes place the second weekend in July every year. It is a great place to take your family and learn about history. There are food vendors and lots to do.

“Step back in time and see how they lived”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

Rose Hill Manor is a beautifully preserved building with a very family friendly feel.

Kids can touch and play with things in the house and learn how people lived 100 years ago.

A nice thing to do when in Frederick.

“The Park and Museum support historical events !”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

The Park and Museum give back to the community by hosting historical events like Civil War Encampments, recreations and my favorite - The Rose Hill Carriage Society Annual Historic Drive every October. (I'm a member) The club shows up with their trucks and trailers and unload beautifully groomed horses and ponies and polished harnesses and carriages. We visit woth non-participants who are visiting the park I think it is quite a spectical.and exchange "horse news" and tack up. First we have indiviual photos taken in front of the mansion and then, with a police escort, drive our horses and ponies through the streets of Frederick. We are re-crating what the citizens of Frederick did on Sundays in the "days gone by". Most of us wear clothes which match the time-period of our antique carriages. Afterwards the participants share pot-luck lunch in the Carriage Museum on the grounds.

“Family friendly”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

This is great for children as there are many activities for everyone. The house is so interesting and the grounds are beautiful. It's a fun way to spend a few hours entertaining your children. Adults will appreciate the history of the house.

“Not Just for Children!”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the home and grounds...........and there was not one child in our group! Although Rose Hill Manor is promoted as a child-oriented site, adults will also enjoy it.

Our costumed tour guide led us though both the beautiful home and various outbuildings located on the grounds. Among the buildings we were permitted to enter were an ice house, a blacksmith's shop, a small log home, and a carriage house filled with gorgeously restored sleighs & carriages. Just to see them was worth the small admission price that was charged.

This is a site definitely worth visiting!
