found the rooms ok kept clean and towels changed regular, I would have been better at the front of the building as it could be a bit loud with music near the bar area over the pool if you wanted a early night, overall a good place to stay it is in the middle of the place near to the beach very central to everything. martin was great behind the bar and the rest of the staff were pleasant as well.

Room Tip: rooms at the front of the building for a quiet sleep 3rd 4th floor don't go in the attic rooms...

Booked from 10th till 18th October with only my hubby and I. Read some bad reviews and thought what have we done? Anyways that was pushed right out of the window when we arrived. We arrived after 1 in the morning and was offered any room we wanted. We opted for the lower ground front. What a view of the square and the fountains. We were the introduced to the pool bar and may i say it MARTIN!!! The nicest guy you could meet. Nothing was too much for him. I could go on and on but basically, the place was spotless, staff were brilliant, (Martin, Merlin, Jaffa and the rest of the gang). The room was big and had a mini fridge. You can hire a safe which is in your room for 5 Lira a day. Rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed daily.
OK heres the bad bit, the food was terrible for the first 6 days till everyone complained. It kind of improved over last few days. There was something to eat but either cold or salad. To top our holiday we met the most amazing people which helped a lot. We would stay in the Vela again, but would go Bed and Breakfast if that was an option. The holiday was fantastic, the staff were fantastic. You get what you pay for x

Room Tip: Try and get front of Hotel coz if you dont like noise, believe me thats the quietest!!!!

Stayed at Vela for a week at the end of September. The rooms are huge and if you get one at the front the balconies overlook the main square so great for people watching. The rooms are kept very clean and towels changed regularly. There is a fridge in the rooms and air con. You can hire a safe for a small charge (I forget how much now but it was minimal). The pool area is nice but they need to invest in some more sun beds. The pool bar is good and Martin the barman is great fun. The restaurant is clean and airy but the food is not very good. You wouldn't starve but the meals are very basic and most of what I ate was cooked in far too much oil. All the staff at the Vela are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help you. I would definitely stay there again but probably use it as a bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the front of the hotel for people watching

We booked through jet2 holidays for stay 25sept 7 October ,I had read TA reviews but thought I would give it a go as every body expects different thing and for the price thought we would use as a base and eat out as the hotel had good reviews about been clean and central.I had emailed the hotel asking different questions and always got a speedy response ,so requested a low floor overlooking pool area which we got.On arrival there was only us dropped off at the hotel so we were seen to straight away and up to our room in no time ,checked it out seemed ok.The food is not amazing but there was always something to eat .i thought the lunch menu was better than the evening menu .You could only get ice cream lunch times which seemed silly especially if you have children with you.The meals were not always hot but after a few complaints a microwave was provided. If you like salad there was plenty of choice ,there was chicken and fish nearly every meal, but there was never any name cards so you didn't really know what you were eating.we did eat out a number of times but you wouldn't starve, overall you get what you pay for and it was clean, central and staff were always friendly.

We were firstly given a room on the 5th floor and that was just like being in a dungeon, very dark and dismal, after complaining we were moved to the 4th floor overlooking the square which was very basic but clean and tidy and bright enough.[ thanks to the girl on reception ]
The food was always cold and not very good at all
They allowed cats to roam all over the place including the tables which we ate from, that just about sums it up.
The drinks from the pool side bar are charged for after 11pm,so much for fully inclusive!and well watered down,as many people will vouch for.
The staff in the restaurant were great lads as were the room cleaners.
Would we go back to Ichmeler [ certainly ] what a beautiful place but never ever would we set foot in the Vela hotel

Room Tip: get the odd number rooms and dont go on the 5th floor.

During our stay at the vela hotel, we found that yes the food could be abit limited but you could always find something to eat, I'm a very picky water but I was always able to eat something! The good isn't as bad as people are making out, it's just more chicken and beef dishes with rice and kebabs and salads. The staff are brilliant, they always spoke to us and they made us feel welcome 100%! Martin on the bar was absolutley brilliant, he looks after you and makes sure you are ok if you are nice to him, there were a lot of rude people, mostly Russians that weren't nice to Martin or ibram at all, manners cost nothing! Jaffa who works in the vela cafe attached to the vela hotel was a good laugh, but beware girls, he is quite abit of a player! The staff on the reception and in the restaurant were really friendly and always spoke to you if you were nice to them! Mustafa was especially nice, he made sure we were all ok and looked after us! The cleaner always had a smile on his face and was always happy! Only advice I would give is that during lunches, dont walk in with just a bikini on, the staff don't think its appropriate but they wont tell you to go and change, and a lot of the staff do talk amongst each other about you as they all know things you've said to only one of them! The rooms were outstandingly clean, the maid worked really hard cleaning the room! Overall, I would say this hotel is probably one of the best hotels I've been to and I've been to some pretty good hotels! I must praise Martin and ibram behind the bar, and Jaffa in the cafe vela, and mustafa in the restaurant, they were all a good laugh, always kind and spoke to you and looked after you! Hope to see them next year!
