My wife and I have just returned from a week in the Grand Yazici Hotel on an all inclusive tariff
We booked a sea view room the room we were allocated did have a sea view sadly most of the view was obliterated by a large tree.
The Housekeeping staff kept the room Spick and Span during our visit. The sheets and towels were changed each day the team being friendly and efficient
We found that the Hotel catered mainly for Russian guests some of whom do not seem to have the same standards as ourselves regarding their table etiquette. Unknowingly we choose a school holiday period in Russia and the hotel was crowded with children. Sadly at meal times lunch and dinner resembled a “bun fight” It was unbelievable the amount of food wasted.
As there is only one sitting for dinner there is considerable pressure on both staff and guests from the start There was never a shortage of food some diners grabbed food and deserts on entering the dinning room. It was unbelievable the amount of food wasted.
It would be better if there was two timed sittings...This would allow parents with children to eat early with a more sedate second sitting for the older guests
There is a notice asking guests to decline from wearing shorts for dinner however this rule is not enforced. This could be looked at for the second sitting. There are still a few of us left who wish to see standards upheld and choose a five star hotel with this in mind.
We ate at the Canlik twice and on both occasions we were satisfied with the service and the food,as we were when we had a snack the Pizzeria
Eating and having paid a supplement at the Meyhane the meal and service were most disappointing.
Although the Entertainment team was in evidence, and very friendly, by choice we did not join in any events.
The Sultan Bar was well run we were well served and looked after by Sehnaz and Mesuit these two people warrant special mention for adding joy to our holiday. The live music at the Sultan Bar was excellent The guitar player and saxophonist are worthy of special mention.
The local wines, beers and spirits included in the cost were more than adequate
We would say there is a reasonable choice of food for a weeks stay Sadly the hotel, as currently run, is not, 5 star in my humble opinion
We will not be returning

I read some of the reviews before booking this hotel and I would say its not as bad as some of the reviews suggest however, it is not as good as the majority say either. The truth is this hotel has the potential to be really good! Great location with stunning views, good facilities (really nice gym/spa), our room was definitely better than we expected and was really big and finally the entertainment was the best we had experienced in over 20 years of holiday abroad. Now you may wonder what the issues were? In one word, the Russians!!! I have always hated comments about foreign nationals and usually have mixed with all nationalities with no issues but this was a shock as they were generally all Rude, ignorant, greedy, selfish and also arrogant. I hate to even say this but it is true and it just made the holiday far more stressful and less enjoyable. If you don't mind people brushing you out of the way and jumping in front of you at every meal or every time you go to the bar or even waiting for the lift fine! But I can assure you after a few days it wears you down. Also, when every other nation learns to adjust meal times to avoid the Russian madness it does make meals less stressful but as they have demolished most of the deserts, mains, bread and don't even think about the water melon it leaves you with the scraps. The hotel was around 80% Russian when we were there and you know it...I Ended up arguing most days and evenings and could give specifics but to many examples. But due to the sheer numbers of them this also has in impact on the service you receive (with a few exceptions including the girls in the Sultan bar and the bar outside of the main restaurant), the staff are obviously so used to the bad treatment they treat everybody the same and ignore and bad behaviour by the Russians! They generally display an attitude of indifference at best and by the way, don't expect to get a sun longer in the promenade or jetties unless you are up at 6am and even then you may have your parasols nicked when you go to lunch!!! Unfortunately what should have been a great holiday was slightly spoiled so we won't be back ;(

Room Tip: Try to get the main building on the 4th or 5th floor

I hope the Manager of the hotel takes the time to read these reviews especially by the people from the UK as the hotel is certainly more geared to the Russians who are quite frankly some of the rudest people I have ever come across and have very little manners.

The location of this hotel is very good and the views are very nice. We got allocated a Villa Sea View room but asked to be moved straight away as the room was not very nice and in need of a complete refurb. The staff at reception were very good and moved us to the main part of the hotel. The room here was better than the villa room but again the bathroom and carpet in the room need replacing/updating as again they are tired looking but the rooms are quite big and they have good sized balconies with beautiful views.

Food was extremely disappointing. We love Turkish food but there was very little Turkish food available. It was clearly geared up for the Russians who are like vulchers. I've never seen anything like it in my life and it did spoil the experience. My recommendation is as soon as you get there, book the a la carte restaurants as the food is better and you get waiter service together with a nice atmosphere. At lunch you can eat at some of the a la carte restaurants and again I'd say go for these over the main restaurant. The breakfast isn't great. We are not fussy eaters but we really struggled to find something we liked apart from the bread. The omlettes are undercooked. There is one member of staff serving the whole hotel with two pans and she doesn't bother to cook them properly and when you ask her to keep it on longer she looks annoyed with you!

Ice cream is only served once a day from 8-8.30pm and again its horrendous. Mainly Russian children pushing in the line who clearly don't know how to queue and their parents weren't any better. The man who served the ice cream barely put a scoop on it. If they served it all day as part of the all inclusive then maybe they could prevent the rush that happens. You have to pay extra for ice cream around the pool which is 5TL and 5TL for the fresh orange juice in the morning which again is something you don't expect.

Children's food....well what can I say, if you don't eat before 8.30pm at night then they take it away which I didn't understand as not everyone wants to eat before this time and there really wasn't much else mine would eat apart from chips which were mainly cold in the main restaurant.
Russians were so rude pushing in all the time.

The entertainment team were good but I found with this hotel they were trying to involve the adults with more activities than the children but it's the children who you would prefer to be entertained. The kids club was dark and smelly and my children wouldn't go in it so that was a disappointment.

The hotel overall is OK but I've been to much better. As I said the views are lovely but the hotel is in need of refurbishment and I guess it's so cheap because of this. The staff work extremely hard and most were very friendly.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms in the main hotel over the villas.

We have just come back from here and we were very disappointed with the hotel. We had numerous issues within the hotel and when my husband finally lost it and demanded to see the manager, we were greeted at our room door, with not only the Manager, but two other staff members and a policeman.
The food was dire and didn't really cater for European tastes, it was mainly Turkish food, with the odd "other" bits thrown in.
The kids club was a dark dingy room which neither of my children (ages 4 and 7) wanted to go to and the play area was very small too, in comparison to the huge area the hotel was based in.
The original "villa" that we booked was in desperate need of modernisation and some were very far away from the main centre of the hotel grounds. Without requesting it, we were put into a larger room, which was very comfortable and big enough for a double bed, single bed and a sofa bed, however we were informed that these rooms did not come with a bath, only a shower. We were so very disappointed with the service of the management, that we changed hotels half way through our stay. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, choose a family room, not a villa.

We booked for 4 of us to go to this hotel. We received an email from them to say we could look at 2 rooms in the hotel or 1 x 2bed villa on arrival. On arrival we were shown 1 bedroom in the hotel which was lovely (5 star). We were then taken to see a villa ( 2 star). Which is an apartment not a villa. The hotel is 20 years old and nothing has been done to the villas since. We decided to have 2 x 1bedroom in the main hotel but were then told there was only 1 available and they would put an extra bed into it. We were sharing with parents in their eighties so this was not an option. They then showed us another 2 villas, which were the same standard as the 1st. The one most suitable was at the top, which has a very steep hill to climb to get to it. We had no option but to accept this one. (Villa 3704). The living room in the villas have a couch which has 2 metal bars underneath so it only sat 2 people. You had to be careful when sitting incase you sat on 1 of the bars. No furniture in balcony. You have to take the table and chairs from inside out to balcony. The bathroom was dark and the temperature of the water in the shower varied from boiling hot or cold while in use. In the twin room we had to move the bed to get into the wardrobe. If you are planning to go to this hotel make sure you are in the main building. The food was good with a good variety of salad and hot plates. Staff are friendly. Pool is excellent. If you want a sunbed down by the sea you have to go early. The accommodation spoilt our holiday as is was only 2 star and definately not 5 star .

Room Tip: Do not book the villas as they are horrible. The villas are apartments not villas. They are on 4 leve...

Just returned from the mares hotel just beware don't expect 5 star treatment for the price you pay. That's why it's so cheap. Restaurant food poor geared more towards the Russians and there was lots of them. Meal times was like a free for all never seen owt like it . Pools and slides boring. Not much for children to do in the evening apart from play pool but that was a bit of a challenge pool tables located at entrance to restaurant so people getting in the way. Location was good within walking distance to marmaris and iscmeler. Wouldn't go back
