“Lovely Marti resort”
Reviewed 5 September 2010

We (myself, partner, small child) travelled with Thomas Cook, all inclusive. Marti Resort is a lovely hotel, we stayed in the 300's block in a refurbished room with view of sea and pools. The room was lovely, newly and tastefully decorated, split level, nice thick mattress, powerful shower and modern bathroom. 3rd bed is a sofa which doesn't need pulling out and is comfortable. Fridge which is kept stocked with water, no tea making facilities though. Cleaning was thorough, air conditioning ok better than expected having been warned on here, unfortunately the unit is down in the lower part of the room so the sleeping area is warm but not uncomfortable, even in 45c+ heat. Just make sure you leave a card in the slot and it will stay on while you're out. The pools are great, plenty of room for everyone, water pleasant temp. People were reserving sunloungers way before 'official' time of 8am though and the front rows of the beach impossible to get after 7am. Staff were helpful and friendly, esp waiters, even though some guests were incredibly rude. Food is fine and plentiful but not outstanding, although you can eat all day if you wish, no reports of food poisoning or any problems while we were there. The entertainment staff around the pool and in the evening worked hard, although entertainment a little cheesy it was fun to watch, and not incessant. Kids loved the mini disco and poolside songs and routines. The only complaint I had is that the Turkish in general seem to play tacky euro-pop music loudly and incessantly all the time. At night the music from the surrounding bars and hotels competed with each other. You are not able to sit with your thoughts at all unless you head down to the beach before sunrise when you can hear the sounds of the sea and wildlife. The hotel is in the best setting, the bay is beautiful.. Beach pebbly and any sand gritty but sea clear and lovely to swim in. Icmeler 'town' is a bit tacky and characterless, you can get a dolmus or water taxi to Marmaris very quickly which is very tacky but has a pleasant marina and old town and is a nice place to spend an evening. Would recommend Marti resort, is definitely nicest looking and situated hotel in whole of Marmaris / Icmeler. Probably 4 star by English standards.

Booked with thomas cook - hadn't been to Turkey before so was a little bit wary however needn't have worried, hotel was excellent in a wonderful location positioned right on the beach. Hotel was spotlessly clean, staff very friendly & helpful. the choice of food was amazing & being a veggie had no problems in finding plenty to eat - been on many holidays in different countries & would have no problems in recommending this hotel.

We arrived at this hotel after a very cramped trip with Thomas cook in the early hours of the morning...the reception staff were very helpful in getting us checked in quickly and to our room. The room was a bit dissapointing as we were in the building that had not yet been updated, however contrary to other reviews it was clean and the view was fantastic, we were only sleeping in there so i felt no need to complain.
The following morning due to the lateness of our arrival we missed the breakfast times but it was no trouble for the staff to find us some coffee and pasteries.
The food at this hotel is wonderful there really is something for everyone and the deserts are to die for!
The staff at this hotel work so hard and long hours but we found them to be very pleasant and extremely helpful.
on the negative side they do have notices all around about the towels not being put down before 8..that is a joke, but they dont seem to be short of sunbeds even in the busiest time of august, the pool guy will be more than happy to get you a bed and parasol.
The staff at the Pool bar made our holiday especially Alp & Ali two fantasic guys who we had lots of laughs with.
On the whole I would recommend this hotel and hopefully we will be back next year

I wanted to tell you all about my wonderful stay at the Marti Resort Hotel. I travelled there with my partner in June this year.

The flight over was good; however Thomson really need to slip their cabin crew some Prozac as they are a bunch of moody trolls – so rude!

Anyway this is about the hotel; the Hotel is situated on the edge of Icmeler, which is 2 hours 45 minutes transfer from Dalaman Airport.

On first arrival to the hotel we were greeted with true five star quality, we were handed our all inclusive cards/room cards/towel cards & instructions on hotel. Then a porter arrived to take our entire luggage to our room (have a few lira handy to tip him).

Room;

The room was spectacular (we were in block 100 room 147), very clean, very spacious (will post pictures). You have all mod cons’ free safe (uses digital code), mini bar (stocked daily with fresh water), Hair dryer, Vanity Table and Mirror, Air Conditioning.

Food in the resort is amazing,

Breakfast

You have a selection of cheeses, biscuits, pancakes, crepes, omlettes, eggs, cheese toasties, muesli (British Food) as well as other selections from Russia, Germany, Asia I sampled some from each culture and it was yummy!

Lunch

You have a selection of salads, meats, soups, fish, CHIPS, cheese, breads, stew, meatballs, spaghetti etc

Dinner

Dinners in Marti are themed nights, so you have Sailor night, Italian night (pita bread pizza is amazing!), Turkish night, so on, there is still a selection of meals that are standard, chicken, spaghetti etc - there is no chips at dinner just roast potatoes.

Snack Bar (Otag bar)

This is the circle building you see in the pictures. It serves an amazing selection of burgers, chips, kebabs, etc

You get late breakfast in the snack bar (10am to 11pm)
You also get late dinner in snack bar (11pm to 12am)

Al’cart Restaurants.

Okay this is where it gets tricky! There is an Italian (La Grotta) and a Chinese (Oriental) on the edge of the complex, they will only give you 25% off food prices (even if you are all inclusive); however your drinks are still free!

We decided not to eat in either of those, as well, you had to pay…. What I would highly recommend though is the Turkish Restaurant. The snack bar shuts at 5pm and gets transformed into a Turkish restaurant from 6pm to 10:30pm (then it gets transformed back into snack bar for late dinner)

The Turkish Restaurant is not the same food you get in the main restaurant, it is all from Turkey. I have to be honest, we kept the menu so we could kind of work out what we were eating… but we had no fear it was all truly amazing the best meal we had in turkey. The culture is amazing too they have Turkish singers…. You just have to experience it for yourself.

You can book a table in the Turkish restaurant through “Customer Relations” at the front door.

Café Area

You will get all your Tea/ Coffee/ Cakes/ Ice Cream here all day 7am every day until 12am.

Bar’s

There is a few bars one called the Oriental (above the Chinese) it is where the action is in this resort, lovely views over the sea, the animation team are there to entertain the kids, adults. Disco/ Bingo etc

The main bar in the resort is the quiet bar and is mainly for adults although they serve kids juice, water etc.

Animation Arena, this is at the front of the resort, there is no bar there! however the staff bring drinks to the serve area!... there is some good shows! You have to see the Turkish Dance night! I must!

Facilities in Resort;

SPA

There is a SPA in the resort; although the prices for Turkish bath / massages are slightly more expensive then you would pay out with the resort. It is worth it just to know you can toddle back to the café for a nice latte and relax afterwards.

You should always get a Turkish bath within your first two days to prepare your skin for suntan, if you do it after this, then it will peel off your suntan. Deep Sea Salt exfoliating it amazing!

Had a few massages and it was lovely! A must try.

Pool Area

You don’t need to take beach towels you are given cards which you hand to the guy at the pool he gives you towels. Although we never went to the pool in the morning, we never had trouble with getting a bed/spot. That is because we clicked straight away, ask the towel guy to get you beds! He will run off wave at you and you point to where you want them! (We wanted them on the other side of the pool to where he was and be brought them over). Please don’t be rude to him though and tip the guy (a few lira – 2 (£1) If you do he will do it for you everyday!

The pools are very very clean, even near the pool bar (which is the other side of the la grotta restaurant). There are the cleanest pool toilets I have ever seen under the snack bar.

Staff

All the staff in this hotel is the friendliest staff you will ever meet! They did everything for us, and more! From Nizam who cleaned our room, to Sergi and Gitram to served as tea/coffee all day!

One thing! Please don’t be rude to the staff, number of brits I am ashamed to say were very rude…. Saying things like “Don’t you understand, I said I wanted blah blah blah”. Staff in Turkey speak Turkish, English, German, Russian etc they have a better grasp of all languages then I will ever have.

However they don’t know all English! Be patient, be polite and they will reward you with the best service you have ever experienced in your life.

Location

The resort is on the edge of Icmeler, however you are never far from the action, you are 10 yards from your private hotel beech (security guard watches over it). 100 yards from shops, and about 150 yards from Icmeler centre.

The Market in Icmeler is every Wednesday to get there – walk out the front of hotel (not beach side), to the main road, turn left and keep walking for about 1 mile (it is not that far), you will hear it before you see it!. Don’t get a taxi there you will get ripped off as it is really only 10 mins away!.

PREPARE TO HAGGLE! – guy said in the UK I pay £100 for Hello Kitty Jumper! I got it for £8 (15 Turkish Lira). Jimmy Choo bag, was 160 Turkish Lira, I got it for 85 Turkish Lira (£40). The quality of bags/ clothes is amazing. Watches etc no so much!

Best time to go to the Market is after 2pm. Just after there lunch, they are also getting desperate for a sale! So you get better prices!!.

Money

DON’T, I repeat DON’T change your money in the UK!.

I was told this and done it anyway and I got 2.24 lira to £1 in the UK. When you walk to the main centre (150 yards from hotel) you are getting 2.34 to 2.42 to £1. The Hotel rate is rubbish 2.17 at my stay so don’t change money there.

Walk up and down the main street you will see loads of exchange places and price match them, there is always one that is just a bit higher, and it is also commission free!!

Don’t take over £500 £1000 either as there is cash lines there that give you British Pounds (HSBC) with no withdrawal fee!

Just take enough to get other there (plane money etc)!

Excursions

I highly recommend them, although they often involve very long bus trips if you have diabetes or think you cannot travel on a bus for 5+ hours at a time please consult your rep before booking the trip, for instance, Pamakkale (you have to see this place amazing), it is 5 hours to get there (6am to 11am travel), you explore from 11am to 3pm, then 5 hours to get back (3pm to 8pm) – long day but worth it.

One excursion I would say you should book without question (if you have a late flight) is the “Dalyan Checkout”. You spend the day at the mud baths, visit the tombs, see the turtles, spend time on the beach sunbathing… before the take you to a hotel to shower, change ready for your flight (airport is only 20 mins from Dalyan – so no 2hour+ transfer) :)

I cannot recommend this hotel enough; I have told everyone I know to book it!

A five star holiday from a five star hotel with five star staff!

We stayed all inclusive at Hotel Marti Deluxe resort in May 2010 - This was not the original hotel we were booked into but our holiday was postponed due to Volcanic Ash. The location of this hotel is fairly good - there are shops and restaurants nearby. We did not visit any of the restaurants as we were all inclusive at the hotel.

All Inclusive - Food in the hotel was excellent and there was always plenty to eat and plenty of choice. Only one complaint was that the food could have been kept a little hotter, but it was generally fine. In the information provided by the hotel, it says that only local alcohol is included in the all inclusive, however, we had access to all alcohol including imported ones at no extra charge. There was always access to plenty of food and drinks whatever time of the day or night.

Rooms - Rooms are a little small but more than adequate. Fridge in rooms are restocked with water every day. Our room had a terrace which because it is in an enclosed area, this was a little dark and got no sunlight - this was fine as it was very hot and was nice to sit in a cool place. Bathrooms in the room are very clean, though a little small. Bedding changed several times per week and towels changed daily.

Pool Area - No problem in securing a sunbed no matter what time of the day you went out. Pools are a good size and are nice and clean. The entertainment people do like you to join in activities during the day but if you tell them you dont want to, they soon move on to someone else.

Entertainment - The only let down to this hotel is there was very little in the line of evening entertainment. There is a gentleman who occasionally plays the piano by the bar, one evening there were some turkish dancers, but appart from that there was nothing else there.

If you want to experience the turkish massage and spa, this is available at the hotel, or you can arrange a trip - definitely recommended. There are amazing views from the hotel which looks wonderful at sunset. The hotel is on the beach and there are no problems locating a sunbed on the beach. If you want to go on trips, I would suggest using the vendors on the beach as they are alot cheaper than the tour reps and are exactly the same trips.

Hotel staff were all lovely and very pleasant. Overall we had a lovely holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay the the Hotel Marti. As a lot of the reviews say, it's in an excellant loction, hotel is clean although the maid service we found to be very eratic. On the first clean, did not clean the loo, shower screen, empty ashtray on balcony, glasses left dirty. It did improve once we had complained but was still not the standard of cleaning we have experienced in other hotels. We arrived on 28 June and left on 8 July and the hotel was fully booked the whole time, hence sunbeds were hard to come by unless you joined the rest of the guests and put your towel down early! They say please do not reserve beds before 8am, but this is widley ignored, even by their own staff who we saw put towels on beds at around 6am each morning (obviously a nice little earner for them). Be sure to get the superior rooms as they are much much nicer, we had the standard room for a few hours before checking out on a late flight and it was terrible - like stepping into a time warp b & b ! One thing we found most frustrating was the lack of english speaking staff in all areas of the hotel. Food, as others have said was very much the same each night and not that good either - I lived on spag bol being the only thing I liked on most nights. The restaurant was chaotic with regard to the area organisation and nothing in the salad bar was labelled as to what it was, which was a big problem for my vegetarain niece. If you want a more child free hotel then do not go to this one as there were a lot more than we expected, as the brochure was flagged adult.

Just returned from this hotel had great time. Went with friends and family and everyone enjoyed themselves. The hotel is really clean and in an excellent position, right on the edge of Icmeler. We had a delux room, which is worth paying extra for ( we had free upgrade). Beautiful view. Slight problem with aircon, but nothing really to moan about. Food plentiful and lovely. Dont expect full english. Pools excellent. Slight problem sometimes with children near swim up bar. All staff very friendly. Animation team very friendly especially princess Anna, Onar and Mustafa at the Oriental Bar. Really enjoyed our holiday in Turkey, even though England were absolutely rubbish. For good night out visit Kirk at Linekers bar and have a boogie. Enjoyed the Drag show down the road at the Stella bar ( dont know where he keeps his bits and pieces). Julie and Kevin drunk the bar dry. Ronnie tried to keep up and nearly did. Jane was there to carry everyone home. Anyone visiting the Marti soon, really envy you and have a drink on us.
