Having just come back from the Munamar Beach Hotel,i would just like to say thank you to all the Staff for making it a very nice Holiday. We booked with Easyjet and after looking at the reviews did not know what to expect. But what we got was a far better holiday for our money,Flights were on time(both ways) when we go with Thomson they always have a excuse why they are late. On arrival we were told that we had sea view rooms 305/307 which were beautiful /cleaned every day, i did request exrra pillows and got them straight away. The food experience could be a bit better but you could always get something you liked. The staff were very attentive and could not do to much for you,the local drinks at the all inclusive bar were fine although limited.,we went out a few times just for the change and had a good meal at a very good price 14oz fittet steak meal, with starters, sweets coffees, only came in at 21 TL thats about £8 at local rates we were getting 2.88 tl to the pound in the UK we got 2.48 so change your money over there . We took a boat trip to Marmaris which lasts about 30 mins that costs 10tl each way or you could go on the Dolmus for 2.5tl each way they went every 15 mins from fight outside the hotell. All in all i think probably Thomson taking over the Hotel next year might ruin it a bit, because half of going on a holiday abroad is to have a taste of the local food, were as you might end up with fish and chips and Bingo every night, but for this year we had a great time and would recommend to anyone. There was one thing though we did miss the bad weather by one day we had sunny days 24degrees--28 degrees when we had to come home on the 24 th October

Room Tip: Odd number rooms 300-400 are Sea view rooms Even number rooms overlook the pool and rhe Residence...

We had noisy neighbours in our room with an adjoining door, but the hotel moved us to a quieter room with no problems.
The food left a lot to be desired. Most of the time it was cold and they do not cater for british tastes. Many times I did not eat at the hotel when the food was cold, just as well as a few people were ill with Delhi belly.
The evening entertainment was poor (when they had any on).
We had torrential rain for 6 days out of 14, obviously not the hotel's fault but they made no effort at entertaining the hotel bound guests.
The rooms are very nice and the maid service is excellent.
The reception staff were very helpful.

Room Tip: First floor above the restaraunt are the quietest. If your room has an adjoining door - reject it an...

My husband and I are in our early 30's and have just got back from a wonderful holiday in Icemeler at the Munamar Beach Hotel, though we hit unlucky with the weather. I was unsure of what to expect after reading some of the reviews on here but I don’t know what all the fuss is about! Some of the reviews seem very unfair and I think people expectations are far too high, especially considering the price of this 4/5* hotel! There weren’t many Russians when we were there and those that we saw weren’t rude.. From 2012 the hotel will be UK, Thomson only with no children and the hotel is apparently undergoing “another” renovation and there will be staff training. I just hope the prices don't shoot up!

Service

On arrival the reception was very friendly and a porter took our bags to our room and showed us how to work the air conditioning and lights. In general the staff were lovely, though spoke little English. The maid service was very good with the towels changed every day and the mini bar re-stocked with soft drinks and water even though it was advertised as only stocked on arrival! The mini bar wasn’t cold, but the next day I reported it to reception and someone came up and fixed it (well I say fixed – he took the fridge out of the wooden unit it was in and it was cold after that, so maybe it was overheating in the unit!) The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly, particularly the bar staff, you could have a laugh with them.

Room

The room was gorgeous, very modern, carpeted with flat screen TV & tea/coffee making facilities. The TV had a very poor signal and limited English speaking channels but if you get good weather then it won’t matter. The bathroom was also very chic and very clean, shower was powerful, though on a morning there seemed to be lack of hot water if you get up late! The air conditioning was perhaps a little noisey but we didn't need to use it much with it being October.

Food

The food, though slated on here, really wasn’t that bad. Yes it was a bit repetitive and the “hot” food that was indoors (not the outdoors section) was luke warm as there were no heat lamps. At the end of the day you’re in Turkey not Britain so you’re not gonna get fish and chips or steak! If you don’t like it, go out to eat! The hotel we thought was quite cheap so we would’ve eaten out without any fuss if we didn’t like the food. We did eat out twice at Coco Beach along the sea front, just for a change of scenery and it was only £45 for a 3 course meal for 2 including water, beer & a nice bottle of wine. You could eat elsewhere for a lot less, but this was a very nice restaurant. We went to the A la Carte restaurant at the hotel once which was nice, but was Sea Food with very little menu choice, but it was lovely all the same.

Entertainment

The entertainment wasn’t great – a Turkish night, Bingo Night and a Quiz night, but that didn’t bother us. The stage area was nice and brightly decorated and the seating area at Carmelos Bar was large and comfy.

Spa

We both used the Sauna and paid extra for a Turkish bath with scrub and foam performed by 2 Thai girls on the first day. It was very nice and prepared our skin for the holiday. We would recommend it.

Pool

The pool area and bar were nice though we only went in the pool once because of the weather. It’s a shame the “hot tub” isn’t hot as it would’ve been great on the cloudy/rainy days that we had!

Beach

The beach is very clean and the sun loungers are not to close together. The sea is nice with lots of fish when it’s cooler (the type that you pay for when you have a fish pedicure in the UK!) It’s a shame the beach is shingle and was a bit uncomfortable on your feet but it was fine. There was watersports available but we didn’t try any.

Out and About

We wanted to go on a few trips but due to the weather we just went on one boat trip to the Dalyan Mud Baths & Turtle Beach which was good. Whatever you do, don’t buy your tickets from your tour operator as they rip you off. We only paid £11 each for our boat trip.

We went to the Icemeler Market which is on Wednesdays, and you need to be prepared to barter! You get a lot of hassle to buy things which I didn’t like and was surprised to find the prices of the clothing was very similar to the shops which you can also barter in so I'd prefer the shops over the market!

All in all we had a fab holiday and will definitely go back to Icemeler and also the Munamar Beach Hotel. Hopefully next time there may be small improvements with the food and the entertainment, the only things that stopped me giving it 5 stars :)

Beautiful situation but spoiled by terrible food. Many guests expressed their disgust in forceful
terms. Food repetitive and often not properly cooked.Generally of poor quality .
All in nature not recommended and the only thing to do is to eat out putting the cost up

We booked this hotel March'11 & did so in good faith purely on the basis that Thomson had it listed in their Platinum Collection which we thought to be a fail safe bet that it was going to meet the standards of its classification BUT in May we were informed by letter from Thomson that it had been re-classified to Chic & Unique.
whilst we were apprehensive about this re-classification change we decided to just accept this as after all Chic & Unique sounded ok too - so when we went on our long awaited 7 day holiday on 24th September we felt rather let down as neither of these classifications really met the standards of the hotel.
We paid £70 more when we booked for a sea view room & the view from our room (209) was nice but it had a very very small balcony which was just big enough for 1 chair in all honesty it spoilt the whole point of having a sea view. Most other rooms seemed to have similar sized balconies too.Overall the room was nice but on being shown to our room on arrival it stunk to the high heavens of very strong cigarette smoke - fair enough thats the last occupants fault & not the hotels but it really was overpowering and took 3 days for the smell to clear. The electric points were almost useless as the one by the balcony behind the curtain didnt work so had to sruggle putting adaptor plugs into socket behind the TV. I reported the socket to reception and also asked for 2 extra pillows but 2 days later I had to go and ask Reception again if they would get the socket fixed & provide extra pillows which did happen eventually.
The hotel staff were all friendly enough and the hotel lobby/pool/beach/bar/shop etc were fine of what I would class as 3 star standards as didnt quite hit the 4 stars it claims to be. BUT the biggest let downs were the restaurant, the so called All Inclusive food and the entertainment.
The restaurant inside part was rather tired and dull whereas outside was better but there were so many people smoking in the outside part at all meal times that it became an unenjoyable mealtime experience for us non-smokers. The food was the same every day almost with too much salad & not enough hot food to choose from (ie liver, turkey, trout) & Ice cream was on offer only twice in our week. The desserts were dry & tasteless as nothing to add to them like cream or ice cream & it was tasteless melon every meal session. The soup was always nice so ended up eating that most of the week. The glasses for pouring you own wine were disgustingly old & dirty looking and many a time we had to go find our own cutlery & bottles of water as tables were not being replenished. The whole restaurant experience was just not the quality that we would expect from a so called thomson platinum or chic & unique hotel.
We did like sitting in the Carmelos Bar area & that was fine but the entertainment was very poor.
Icmeler for us (after being there 2 years ago & staying at the Aqua) was just not the same resort that we first fell in love with - the canal stalls now being all gone has took some charm away & the shop owners now just seem to be giving more hassle than i can remember and this was a big let down so we probably won't return. If The Munamar sort out their poor restaurant & food service then it could improve drastically as it has got a lovely beach location with rather
smart bedrooms (exept the mini fridges which are more like a microwave oven) but for us Thomson really should get this hotel's classification right as we feel it was falsely advertised - it's now down in their books & online as 'couples choice' for 2012 but it will be interesting to see if they change it yet again! Big let down Thomson!

Room Tip: If you pay extra for sea view you may be disappointed with the very small balcony n we thought view...

Just returned from the Munamar, first visited in 2009 and thought it was ok except for the food. Having learned that it had had a refurb decided to go again as it is in a wonderful situation overlooking the bay. When we arrived after midnight we asked if any food had been left for us and the receptionist said that the kitchen was closed but we stated that we had had nothing to eat since midday and the porter actually got us a roll each which we were grateful for. The room didn't look as though it had been done up but was fine. The next morning we went to breakfast and we were greeted by the salads, cold meats , fruit etc , we went to lunch and were met by salads cold meats etc, we went to evening meal and were met with salads cold meat fruit etc. In the week the only "hot" meat we had was chicken whicdh looked like scrag end, Spag boll where the meat had to be searched for, beef stew the meat had also to be searched for, turkey from last Christmas?, and liver or was it shoe leather. If the veg wasn't finished at one meal I am sure that it was rehashed at the next. We had mushroom soup that had a distinctive "peay" taste after having pea soup the previous day, everything was I am sure recycled. One afternoon we went for the snacks between 14.00 and 16.00, these were the left overs from lunch with the heating compatments switched off surely an invitation to stomach upsets. Next year this hotel is becoming couples only but I think that they have either got to have better chefs or a larger food budget as when you pay for AI that is what you expect not having to eat out .As for the Russians they haven't got a"please" or "thank-you" as for queue jumping just say "hey back of queue" don't let them get away with it.Entertainment very poor. Reception staff not very good. Why during the day at Carmellos bar do they allow the young washer-ups to serve drinks but at night the busiest time they have one barman to serve? At the beginning of the week drinks to take to the beach came in large cardboard cups b ut as the week progressed they turned to small polystyrene cups like the ones out of machines and even later in the week these came down to plastic cups. All in all very disappointed and will certainly not go back there this is classed as a 5* hotel but it is only 3* at best, if you want 5* just go to the Aqua and notice the difference. One saving grace for this hotel is its situation it is fantastic. Nice legs shame about the face.

Room Tip: 5th floor sea view

We have been back a week and miss Icemeler already! The Hotel is in a great location, beautiful sea views rooms available at an extra cost. We could always get a sun bed whether it was the beach or the pool, we cant really fault the hotel its self. The food was very samey and the drink was not that good in the end we went out for food and drink as it so cheap. The hotel staff are not the most friendly people I have meet, but if the hotel was room only we would stop again ! Icemeler is a very nice resort always something going on until 12 and then they turn the music off but you can still have a drink. Loads of excursions you can book locally in the town and save a fortune. Def go back again but not to that hotel or all inclusive or with Thompson come to think about it!
