“awesome holiday with excellent service!”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

Totally agree with most comments stating clean and basic. The pool is immaculate, they take pride in keeping everywhere clean and tidy. The staff are extremely welcoming and can not do enough for you! As for the reviews about getting hassled all i can say is thats just Turkey it comes as standard!!
The beach is a 2 minute walk down the beautiful canal, the bars are also only a small walk away but not too close that you can here them.
Yes they do have entertainment on at the hotel (which is brilliant) and as for the comments about jeeping you awake-if you cant beat em join em you are on holiday after all, plenty of time to sleep in the day.
Overall a realy nice place to stay!!!!!!

Room Tip: ask for pool view

Just got back from Selen 2 after two week holiday. Myself, husband and mum and dad. This is mum and dads third stay and our first stay. Upon arrival we were met by Yousef (joseph) who carried our bags up to rooms(lovely guy). The Air con is £4 per night and safe is £3 per night. If you stay for two weeks expect to add nearly a further £100 on to cost of holiday if you choose to take these things when booking in at hotel, we paid for one safe and shared it with parents therefore, half the price. Chose not to get Air Con at first as is wasnt stifling hot when we arrived but it got hotter second week so we paid for Air Con for last four nights. Booked with thomas cook and had double rooms on third floor, ours was facing the pool and parents were at the back, both views are fantastic, however our balcony on front was bigger, some reviews have mentioned it was quite noisey being at the front, whilst it is noisey it didnt really bother us as we didnt find the noise excessive. Music goes off at midnight and then you had a few guests coming back after midnight for drinks etc..but not over excessive noise. You can close door if gets too noisey(but only if you have air con as rooms are hot).
Rooms are OK, they were clean but lots of stains on walls and the T.V (bring antiseptic wipes and wipe everything down) Hair dryer had adhesive tape wrapped around the handle - obviously broken but it still worked and not something i would bother to complain about). Rooms tidied daily with clean towels provided, bin change and bed tidied, i think bedding changed twice weekly. Beds are hard but actually very comfortable. Lots of space for clothes. Shower curtain was a pain kept clinging to us when we got shower (pole that holds shower curtain up to close to shower).
Hotel grounds lovely and clean and modern. i think i counted 80 plus sunbeds, for June the hotel was quite quiet i would say not even half full, you could see that as pool not full during the day or it wasnt packed of an evening.
People have metnioned hassle from staff, yes you do get hassled for business. We were asked if we wante to do turkish night for £10 per person, includes food we said no and explained we have been coming to turkey for years and we had seen this so many times (still doesnt stop them!)
Asked if we wanted to do Curry Night £10 per person, my mum hates curry so we said no. Then we were asked if we wanted to do Indian Night, my husband hates Indian so we said no.
I dont know the guys name but he had a clip board - he was asking us all the time, even when we sat down for breakfast, he pulled his chair up with his little clip board and started with his speech. My husband just said cut to the chase what are you selling?? He said Turkish Night we said no and that was that. Dont get me wrong turkish night is good if you havent seen it before so dont be put off.

Other Hotel staff - lou lou - a very funny guy (he is the one with the big lips and doesnt know how to make a banana split ha ha )

John travolta ( dont know his real name but has a tooth missing and doesnt speak much english - we liked him very plesant)

Emre ( nothing outstanding - liked his sunglasses though )

Martin (meytyn) very professional individual, very money orientated ( its his job to push for business), didnt push us on anything as he realised very quickly if we didnt want to eat there or do anything else there, whatever he said didnt make a difference to us. My husbands Mum was ill and he always asked how she was . He seems stand offish at first but if you sit and chat to him he is a nice guy.He does however think he looks like Enrique Inglias (apparantly he has been told this!!!!!!!)

the staff are just trying to drum up business for the hotel and there is nothing wrong with that, they are trying to make money. I noticed this year Icmeler was quite busy on the canal front and lots of people walking around in the night, but the bars were empty and my opinion is because everyone has gone all inclusive it is actually cheaper now to do this. Food is reasonably priced but the drinks are expensive i.e bacardi and coke anything from 9 - 12 Lira, wine 8 - 9 lira JD and coke 10 - 12 lira, based on the rate i always work it out on (2.50 to the pound) it is expensive. Coffee anything form 2.5 lira to 5 lira depending on where you go.
Places to go: Eddies cafe one of the cheapest for drinks and not far from Selen 2 - nice and peaceful.
Magic Garden: lovely place for drinks - try blue heavan cocktail lovely but expensive at 12 lira

Food: Broadway on the canal beautiful tender steaks, anything you want just ask, solomon and shamus will do anything for you, i would reommend that place. Better than venice and better than majestic.

Sava Cafe on canal front near Munamar Beach resort hotel. Love that place the food is fantastic and all cooked fresh, try the the pasta or their pizza beuatiful food, and reasonable prices.

As for Selen would go back there, friendly and lively staff always willing to accommodate. I would say all the staff try to make your staff as pleasant as possible including the reception staff. Try it.

Room Tip: Back of hotel quieter - end rooms on the back have smaller balcony though. front of hotel could be...

Just got back from a weeks holiday at the Selen 2. I really have mixed feelings about this hotel .

Upon arrival we were greeted by a young Turkish man who took our cases off us and escorted us to reception. We had a quick and effcient check in and were offered air conditioning and a safe at an extra charge which we accepted. Then the young man took our cases to our room.

The Room
the room was very, very basic, overlooked the pool and had absolutely no double glazing our sound proofing whatsoever and we knew instantly that we were not going to sleep at night. It was cleaned every day and the cleaning lady that serviced our room was friendly and helpful. The downside was that the noise from the entertainment and bar kept us awake until 2/3am!

The Waiters
On our first night we were 'hit on' by Abdullah and this was the start of his 'harrassment'. Because of this we decided to escape the hotel at all times and after 3 days we were asked by Metyn to stay at the hotel and give them a chance. We did and we had mixed experiences. The night time entertainment was excellent. The waiters done their best to ensure that you had a good time although we got totally fed up of Metyn asking us to buy him drinks and ice cream. It was a bit much. If we were by the pool side he would frequently come up and ask us to buy him ice cream and every night if we wordrered a drink, he would say and one for me!

Oh and the hairdresser/beautician( I think Andy) kept hassling, hassling. hassling. He didnt leave us alone even though I had all my beauty treatments before I left he just would not take no for an answer. I ended up having two treatments I didnt need just to ensure he left us alone for the rest of the holiday. I so regret being forced into that!

We have been asked if we would stay at this hotel again and to be honest I am not sure. I loved the entertainment, hated the hassle. Unfortuantley the good staff got let down badly by Metyn and Abdullah who incidentally were the 'Managers'.

in Summary:

Very basic room but really clean with friendly cleaning staff.
Receptionists all very friendly and helpful. A credit to the hotel
Waiters - all very good, especially Louie and Byron.
Entertainment - Great fun and good value
Photographer - Amazing! so good and very friendly. Good value too.
Breakfast - Poor
Manager - Abdullah - Avoid like the plague!!!!
Manager - Metyn - Full of smiles but only interested in your money, if you don't spend you get sarcastic and unnecessary comments!

After booking twice into these apartments last year and not getting what we ordered either time, we thought we would give them one more chance. Got back home 4th June after 9 nights in the apartments and it seems that they have learned a big lesson from last year (maybe due to the reviews on this site?). Shown straight to the apartment requested and when we went down to the bar, they seemed a little shocked that we had gone back there, because they apologised for last years fiasco. Pretty much the same staff for the last three years which does say's something about the place. Apartments are basic but spotless and it is a great location to get to almost everywhere in ten minutes tops. A lot of money has been spent in the centre with fountains and seating areas really making the area pleasant. Check out the "Rush" bar/restaurant at the end of the street. It was formerley the "Lemon Tree" but it has been taken over by Rashid (scouse in the house) from the Dream Three Bells and he has taken one of the chef's with him, best prices and standard of food as good as anywhere in Icmeler.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have sun on them most of the day

Me and my boyfriend travelled to turkey in July 2012 (peak time) before we we went on holiday i read reviews of the Selen 2 and read alot about them double booking rooms however when we arrived at the Selen 2 we was greeted by the very friendly staff and taken straight to our room. The holiday was fantastic and the staff made it that way. The are polite always intrested in how your finding your stay, they also come round the pool to check if you need anything. The hotel rooms are quite small but enough for what you need at the end of the day you dont go to turkey to sit in your hotel room... maids are very consistent with their cleaning and sometime make a pattern on you bed with the towels. Whilst we was there i thought i broke the hairdryer in the bathroom and asked for help... got a great service within 20 mins however it wasnot broke i hadnt turned it on!!! Breakfast is very turkish tradtional including boiled eggs cereals bread and rolls ect. but there is enough choice. Grounds of the hotel are sparkling clean pool was always clean. Great entainment at night however we didnt stay round the hotel that much in the evening becuase we wanted to go to various bars. They have a BBQ night weekly and I have heard there is also a weekly curry night this year.
Such a fantastic holiday for our 1st time in Turkey and YES we are returning in July booked yesterday for 10 nights.

Never having been to Turkey before we were not sure what to expect. However, when we arrived we got a great reception, and our bags were taken up to our room by one of the staff. They were really friendly and accommodating ,always trying to help, even to the extent of offering to change our room when I said that Idon,t like lifts.Room was basic but clean and was cleaned out every day by friendly staff. The only problem we had was with a shower curtain which kept falling downThough the balcony was small, it had a spectacular view across icmeler towards the mountains. in the evening of our first night we met the manager Abdullah and his team who kept us entertained with their impromptu dance acts, and always were ready to fetch us drinks etc. These wre genuinely nice people who helped to make our holiday great All in all we had a lovely time and I think we will definitely return to the Selen 2 at some time

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are best, preferably on the second or third floor as the poolside entertainment go...
