This was our 3rd year at the Alvaro. Arrived about 3 in the morning. Booked in and bags were taken up to an attic room !!!!! Didn't unpack just slept and was moved to the 1st floor the next day.
To be fair the attic rooms themselves are fine and the bathrooms lovely, I just don't like the small balcony and find the stairs a bit of a climb. 3 pools and pool area is kept nice and clean and this year there were new and extra sunbeds so didnt have to get up so early to reserve a bed. The fabulous Eddie, as usual, kept everything running like clockwork - the man is a legend.! Food is good and reasonably priced - try a mixed fruit juice. Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. Funds permitting would definitely return next year.

Room Tip: No lift so ask for ground floor if stairs are a problem. Attic rooms are nice but have very small balconies.

My first time staying in Turkey and reviews on here are why we chose the Alvaro.
The reviews are all pretty much spot on - basic rooms, dodgy water supply at times but these minor factors should not be considered when considering this place.
- The staff are fantastic (all of them) and really go out of their way to make your holiday good and they work especially hard to make sure all the kids have a good time. I went with a 12 and 16 year old and both loved it.
- The location couldn't be any better. In the very centre of town the hotel isn't more than a 10 minute walk from anything, shops, beach, restaurant or market.
- Swimming Pools, all three of them and a slide. The two main pools are warm and the slide into one of them provides hours and hours of fun (if that is your thing).

All this coupled with the Turkish night the hotel lay on and I really do not have a bad word to say about the hotel or iots people.

The town is a slightly different matter. It is totally focussed on the English tourist and a peaceful walk around the town is nigh on impossible. As long as you a firm and polite this isn't really a problem but it does tarnish what would otherwise be a fantstic beach town.

Would I go back - to the Alvaro yes, without hesitation. To Icmeler....I'm less keen.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the top floor rooms. These have very small balconys from which you can only have a view if you are stood up. The air con is worth the extra money in the hottest part of the year. The safe system is also very user friendly.

First time at Alvaro and will not be my last. Rooms are basic but cleaned everyday. The staff made our holiday, they are so friendly and will do anything for you. The pools are great and the waterslide kept everyone entertained. A must is the Turkish Night which is good value for money. Be prepared to go in the pool around 11ish !!! Location is good, about 7 mins walk to beach. Overall the ideal place to stay if you want fun and a friendly atmosphere

Just returned from a weeks stay .. wonderful pool and the water slide was the best attraction for my nine year old daughter . Fabulous staff and an amazing Turkish night . Rooms are basic and the shower was a bit hit and miss not always warm and sometimes just a trickle but we were warned about the water situation before hand . Minutes walk from beach, shops and supermarket so a great location too . BEWARE of the market in Icmelere on Thursday I haggled for a leather handbag to below half the original asking price and spent £ 40 which I was very happy with and I thought was a fair price I was assured the bag was leather ( I asked the trader twice ! ) It smelt like leather and looked like leather but on arriving home and on much closer inspection it is not ... very disappointed as I was looking forward to owning a leather bag bought from Turkey which is famous for its leather goods , to find out I was lied too and feel conned :( Wish I had been warned about that so please take notice !!!

9 years running going to turkey, first time at Alvaro! Superb service, friendly, especially Eddie. Rooms basic but cleaned daily and plenty space for family of 4. 3 great pools with 1 slide, and a soft play area for young kids, I had 3 kids there aged between 3 and 9 and they all had a great time. As for location we were centre of everything from shops beach and restaurants, what more could we ask for. Can't wait to go back next year.
