Reviewed 27 May 2014

When we arrived early hours we were greeted by the friendly night manager who dealt with us straight away and took us to our room which was quite small but very clean and tidy, when we got up the next day and went down for breakfast we couldnt believe what we were offered for breakfast,The hot plate had boiled eggs in one scrambled eggs in the 2nd eggy bread in the third and pancakes in the 4th and that menu never changed for the remainder of the holiday apart for one day we had fried eggs. Dont get me wrong the food wasnt that awful it was just the same every day chicken chicken or chicken for dinner and tea and you could also have in the afternoon chicken nuggets. The staff done their job well and were always busy but that was as far as went.It wasnt a bad hotel but it needs atmosphere because of its location it has so much potential to be a great family hotel.

Room Tip: pay extra for sea view but avoid the fifth floor rooms .

we have just come back from a 10 day stay at mar-bas hotel, my first impression of this hotel clean and stunning views, as the days went by I became a bit disheartened by the lack of atmosphere and not very attentive staff. food quality was of poor standard unless you like chicken and egg. chicken for diner, tea and even afternoon snacks, boiled eggs every day. beach area was shocking compared to next door (liberty bar) which is owned by the hotel but you had to pay for everything even though you are all-inclusive. don't ask a favour off hotel cause everything is at a price. 52 lira for Wi-Fi (all other places no charge) 21 lira for a phone call (regarding my transfers). the pool bar, no back round music no atmosphere limited drinks no food, and needs a refurbishment. and also at meal times you will find staff sweeping floors around you. so glad we had a double discount on this hotel, as we were able to eat out most of our holiday.
The hotel management need to take note of there customer comments, CON ONE CUSTOMER AND YOU LOSE A THOUSAND CUSTOMERS.

We came on from the 8th May -18th May 2014. It was perfect from start to finish. We arrived early hrs in the morning and the night receptionist could not do enough for us. We was on the top floor so the view was perfect over looking the beach. We paid a little extra for sea view but it was worth every penny. Staff are friendly. Hotel was spotless right through. Our room was cleaned everyday. Both pools were spotless. Hotel is in a great location and I would recommend it to anyone. Will be staying again :))

My husband and I are just back from Turkey staying in Mar Bas hotel 29th April to 6th May. We had a brilliant time, The hotel is lovely, our room was cleaned daily, we had the most stunning view from our room, looking out over the sea towards Marmaris. the staff are all very friendly, the food is very nice, the two pools are very clean, We couldn't fault it, so much so we are going to book again for next year.

Breakfast choice 6 cereals, pancakes, eggs, breads, cheeses etc . Fresh juices. Water is bottled water. Tea coffee capicino latte etc.. maid service, fresh towels, shower gel, liquid soap provided..pleasant and modern comfortable reception/lounge area.i was impressed its a family run hotel, the family eat at the dining room. The two pools where clean and people having fun in them.its in a cove at the end so great for kids. Ducks on the beach. Fishing boats near by.quiet and no traffick.staff efficient and helpfull. Reception no probs. Hotel has hairdressers and small convenience shop, very reasonable prices and owner there a really nice man. Dolmos bus stops at back of hotel to turn around &go back marmaris way. Chickens and goats on mountain at back,by a little house that has a huge lemon tree. I can highly recomend for couples, children or retired people.high season very hot. April may or sept ideal. Lots if things to do and see at little cost.

Traveled here with the lady in September 2013 and I've never been so underwhelmed by a hotel in my life. I'm a bit of a realist when I'm booking, I've stayed in 2* 3*, slept in tents too a fair bit so I'm not that fussy. Firm believer in "you get what you pay for". This was my 5th time to Turkey and 4th time to Icmeler and this is hands down probably one of the worst places I have stayed in my life. We were booked in for two weeks but left after the first week moving to alternative Self Catering Accommodation. The place was that depressing. We did complain to Travel Republic who as the booking agent were relatively helpful, however we were not refunded the cost of our second week despite the hotel putting someone else into our room the day after. The response from the hotel stated that we were wrong and nobody else had complained?

Cost:
Cost wise Icmeler isn't an expensive place, depending on who you book through if you are traveling as a couple you can stay somewhere really nice Self Catering and eat and drink like a King and Queen all over Icmeler and further afield for the same cost as you would pay for all inclusive. The standard of food in Icmeler is generally quite high from my experience. The food in this hotel is however awful. Cold scrambled egg with a film over it in the hot plate "the hot plate that isn't turned on" Most of the other evening food selection was just about edible but tepid. The cold salad selection was o.k.

Staff
Either totally ignored you or were downright rude. I was standing at the coffee machine one morning and one of the staff started banging my ankles with a brush - I took this to mean that she wanted to clean under the coffee machine so I moved and she did. Staff didn't look happy at all and spent most of the time scowling at people. There seemed to be a tense atmosphere between staff and management.

Atmosphere:
There is none, the place has a very depressing feel to it, we witnessed a few altercations with one of the rude managers and other customers. There is no music or anything around the pool. At night the place is plunged into a depressing darkness for dinner service.

Rooms:
Acceptable but nothing special, again the key here is the price point. If this hotel cost half as much per night then the rooms by comparison would be o.k. Torn bedsheets that looked like someone had to tease them from the jaws of a big dog. Stains all over the carpet. The whole hotel feels very old and tired and not particularly clean. Time has not been kind to it. Some smaller self catering around Icmeler is no doubt older but it doesn't show as much when compared to this place.

The beach:
This was actually hilarious. The Hotel has a small section of beach with around 60 sun loungers. A couple of times I got up in the morning to go and use a sun lounger and pretty much every sun lounger had a towel on it. I thought surely the whole hotel hadn't got up early to do this. So that night myself and the lady checked the beach at about 2am on our way back from a few drinks. Pretty much every sun lounger had a towel on it. People were basically reserving a lounger for their whole holiday!!! Sometimes during the day the beach area was empty but full of towels. Also this section is very crammed in comparison to other areas of the lovey beach in Icmeler. The beach is well looked after in Icmeler, and having been there a number of times I know that sun loungers are removed, any rubbish is picked up and some areas of the sand get combed. The Mar Bas section of beach is THE ONLY section of beach in Icmeler where this is not done. Sun loungers are more comfortable elsewhere along the beach and most bars offer free ones or charge 1 lira per lounger "about 33 pence"

Summary:
Icmeler is a great place with so many bars and restaurants with great food, welcoming staff. This hotel is a huge let down and I would hate to think that someone might visit Turkey for the first time and come away thinking that this is what you get when you go there.

Spend half your money on Self Catering and explore. Hire a Jeep for a couple of days and drive around the hills to Turunc.

The Mandolin and Cupids Steak House are very nice places to eat in the centre of Icmeler. For lunch. BJs cafe on the beach front is nice and the bars also run a beach service "apart from the Mar Bas". CoCo beach is another lovely restaurant on the beach front.

Such a shame as the location and view from the Mar Bas are lovely but wholeheartedly let down by everything else. Don't waste your money on this place as you will probably regret it.

we arrived in the early hours and were shown to our room which was clean and adequate after a good nights sleep we got up for breakfast , which to be honest was same as other all inclusive hotels bread, croissants, eggs ,yoghurt, fruit .Then we headed to the beach this hotel did not get any sun round the pool or on the beach untill after dinner so we went to pier 15 beach which we always use. Went back for dinner your usual salads and 4 chioces of hot food not bad could do with a bit more choice but it is only a small hotel so they are not going to do loads and throw it away.We never ate evening time in the hotel so dont know what it was like we like to eat out this hotel was a cheap break for us so we did not expect too much. The bar was the normal beer wine local spirits and soft drinks ok for what we paid but didnt drink much. The staff a little too quick to take your plates sometimes and not much of a conversation from them but i dont go on holiday to talk to staff .Had a talk with the owner who is pleasant and courteous who said he had a few problems with some customers a couple of years ago but has been ok since .I think if your are considering this hotel look at how much you are paying for what you get for your money and compare it to others in icmeler which are very expensive .Everybody has a different idea of they expect i went not expecting 3 star and got what i expected ,my experience of this hotel was fine .

Room Tip: we did,nt have a sea view but if you can book one i would the view is amazing .
